Summary: Not for real art photographers
Review: I bought this book based on the reviews I read and I have to admit its not what I expected. Isn't there a book out there for non-commercial photographers? Does every photoshop user have clients and need to make a buck? Where is the voice of the true art photographers. This book is full of glitz and tricks for making photos that look like they belong in magazine ads and as posters on a teen-ager's wall. If that's the type of art you are looking for then this is the book for you.

Summary: Very helpful for the beginner
Review: I bought this book hoping to learn Photoshop, and that I did. The tutorials are very helpful and also inspiring to my own creativity. The CD-ROM that is included in this book is very useful also. I strongly recommend this book to anyone that has Photoshop.

Summary: The best Photoshop® cookbook available
Review: I just got this book a few days ago and haven't put it down yet! Unfortunately, I paid full price for it at a bookstore as I was on my way out of town. Nevertheless, the extremely clear and concise direction and the beautiful quality printing and graphics are worth ten times the cover price. The tip on using the cylinder tool of the the 3D Transform command was a real eye opener. As was the concept of applying an environment reflection to a chrome effect to make it more "Real"! The CD ROM (included) also provides all of the graphics used in the lessons in the book so that the lessons are not just cerebral, but tactile as well. If you've ever wanted to make Photoshop® sing and dance, then The Photoshop WOW! Book is the manual for you!

Summary: Alot of content
Review: I learned a lot of great little tricks and shortcuts from this book. A lot of those things you see and wonder "how did they do that?" this book explains. It is a little hard to follow the step by step guides sometimes. If they could number the steps, or put in more of an outline form, it would be perfect. Still, with all the info that is here, I think they probably did it the only way that would make sense. A very good book to look at for ideas when you are in a little bit of a creative funk.

Summary: Great book for any user
Review: I love the photoshop WOW book!! It is one of the most colorful and insiteful photoshop books that I have read. It tells you just what you want to know, without really going into any nonsensical technical jargon. It was easy to follow and the CD which came with it helped emmensely as well. The CD also contains many premade filters, and textures, which are absolutley fantastic! Love the book!

Summary: Not recommended for Photoshop beginners
Review: I purchased this book several months ago, having no experience in Photoshop. From the first I found the book overwhelming and confusing. Maybe it's my style of learning, as I was expecting a more linear style. Something like, "Okay, here's what you need to know to get started" and "Now that you know this, here's how you do that."

But this book, to me, is needlessly complicated. While it's excellent for detailed descriptions, I wouldn't recommend it for beginners. I found myself reading and re-reading descriptions and information, breaking out the highligher pen, trying to glean the basics from pages and pages of details that were, for a beginner like me, irrelevant. I say irrelevant because I was given information on things I hadn't learned yet.

I wound up purchasing other resources to learn Photoshop. Now that I have a basic understanding of the software, this book is a little more useful, though still too complicated for my taste.

Summary: Great for people with a little experience.
Review: I really like this book. It is great for people who have a little knowledge of the basics of Photoshop. One of the main reasons I enjoy it so much is because it is full color. So many Photoshop books that you find are drab.

Not only is it colorful but it has tutorials that are a lot of fun to do. I recommend this book. You can learn a lot from it.

Summary: Excellent
Review: I started with digital photography about 8 months ago, so I'm a completely beginner, and I can tell you that this is a very easy to understand book. Also, it has a lot of good examples, and easy to follow tutorials. I've learned A LOT since I bought it, and I always keep it close to me, because you might open it on any page, and you'll find something interesting. So every time I can I read a chapter.
Besides, it's hard to put it apart, because once you are studying a chapter it makes reference to another page related with what you are reading, so then you go to the other page and get hooked on another theme, and so on.

Summary: Wow does a great job
Review: I wasn't a big fan of the last book, but Wow PS 6 did a great job in explaining a lot of the new features of Photoshop 6. The one thing that I liked about the last one was the gradients and additional actions on the CD. That has not changed. The CD was worth the money spent on the book. The book this time was not overshadowed by the CD.
