Summary: King James Version Rules
Review: The Bible is probably the most revered piece of literature in the history of the world, and because of this fact I thought that the bible warranted a really top-notch review. Not top-notch in the sense of a review that heavily praised the Bible (I did not even want to rate it, but they will not post it unless you do. There is something unsettling to me about rating the Bible along the same lines which I would the Harry Potter books, which while we're on the subject are quite good, I would give those 4 stars), but top-notch in the sense of a review that was a fine piece of literature itself, possibly better than the book which it was reviewing. So I thought that I would be really clever by write a comical review of the Bible, but unfortunately I could think of nothing either clever or comical. So I figured to myself that I would read a few of the existing reviews, and possibly do a parody of one of those. Then I read the first review, and it was all downhill from there. Not only had someone already written a comical review of the Bible (therefore taking away my clever idea), but any clever or comical remarks which I did have to say were already stated in that article. Essentially I was screwed. So what I decided to do was instead of writing a review of the Bible, write about my experience of trying to write a review of the Bible, and pawn it off as a review of the Bible. And that was it. On another note, though I am just as religious as the next guy, I think there should be a constitutional amendment barring the use of the Bible in any arguments not concerning the Bible itslef. Using the Bible in an argument is an unfair advantage, because it is virtually impossible to refute. And if one tries, the discussion reverts into a debate concerning the truths contained in the Bible. Therefore, the use of the Bible in any argument, especially ones regarding abortion, should be outlawed. Lastly, my only hope is that this review will not be misconstrued as a time when someone was pretending to be trying not to be funny, but in actuality was trying desperatlely to be funny. Because I really hate it when people do that, and I would appreaciate it if none of you insinuated that that was my intent in this review. Because no kidding, i really hate when people do that. And don't bother thinking that my attempt to silence the aforementioned implications were intended to parody my non-existent attempt at hilarity. This cycle could go on for quite some time, so I'll just stop now. Maybe I should have considered reviewing the Harry Potter books more seriously.

Summary: Attitude Shows
Review: The drawings are excellent, moving, profound. Obviously an artist is going to exhibit the attitudes of his heart and Barry Moser does so. I find the drawings intensely moving even where I disagree, as in his depicting The Destroyer as feminine, although the word for Destroyer is masculine ("SHACHATH" and "MASHCHITH" for "to destroy" or "destroyer" __ in transliteration).

Summary: Good for its time, but its time has passed
Review: The King James Version of the Bible is good if you like the Old English language and the feeling of piety of being an "old-fashioned" believer. However, the King James Version was antiquated by the time the Founding Fathers were reading it, and it was by no means perfect.

The King James Version was a translation of several different translations of the Bible, some verses in which were not in the earlier manuscripts. And the language was better suited for Shakespeare than anyone in the 21st century.

I wrote a review for the New Internation Version, which is my personal favorite for Bible reading.

King James is good, but the NIV is better.

Summary: Stunning!
Review: The limited edition of this work is an absolutely stunning achievement in design, illustration, typography and binding, and this is reflected in every page of the (thankfully!) much more affordable trade edition. An exemplar of the book arts that will surely be treasured for generations to come....

Summary: Pictures make for Dark and Dreary World
Review: The pictures in this book are very dark in color. Also very dreary. Several pictures of dead bodies including the head of goliath, Saul's body nailed to a wall, Absalon hanging dead from a tree, the Death of Aaron, Hell and more. Also A picture of Paul after he was beaten, Isaiah and Adam and Eve naked, a picture of Balaam beating his ass, Aaron offering a sacrifice, Samson blinded and bound, Rahab the Harlot, Moses in his Sepulchre, ect. ect.

It was like Barry Moser only looked for all the gloom and doom of the bible and no hope. Yes lots of bad, evil things happened in the bible, but the bible if full of hope and joy and heaven too. This seemed to be missed in the illustrations. But the pictures are well done but very dark in color. Much more black in each picture then white. Not a good book for children. Also I wish they had broke up the paragraphs more. Reading with no paragraphs seems a little odd. But I like the fact they left out the verse numbers and I like the larger print. If I was to only look at the pictures without reading the story, I would get depressed. I love the fact they chose the King James Version to use.

Summary: An Amazing Work of Art
Review: This Bible is simply beautiful. I stumbled onto it through Amazon's Recommendations. The beauty of the King James Version's Jacobean English is unparalleled, and the masterful illustrations by Barry Moser make the text come alive in your hands. This is a book which can easily become a family heirloom. The text has no verse divisions and reads more comfortably as a continuous flow. The large print, the drop caps and the rich illustrations go along with the large format to give a very classical, meaty feel to this gorgeous work of art. It's a beautiful way to display and enjoy God's Word.

The Hardback version is out of print, and I got a superb deal on one from one of Amazon's used booksellers.

Summary: A feast for the gullible
Review: This book is a world-class monument to peoples gullibility. The myths and superstition contained in this so-called "holy book" would be laughable if not for the destruction and suffering it has caused through the ages. Bigotry, hate, superstition, murder, ignorance, etc. it's all in there, ready to instruct the naive and lead the sheep (one of the reasons religious leaders refer to followers as their "flock"). Book burning is a horrible thing, but an exception should be made for this compilation of nonsense.

Summary: Its all so true!
Review: This book really amazed me. It wasn't like what all the others said,"The Bible isn't literally true." It was a little trying in some books such as II Samuel and the other talk mostly about "kings books". Now of course the Bible is literally true for 1. several of its prophecies have been fulfilled and 2. artifacts have been dug up for any of the kingdoms referred to in the bible. Overall this is a superior book.

Summary: The Holy Bible : King James Version.
Review: This book, in the true nature of all bibles is confusing and not worth the trouble of reading. Allthough a rather accurate version, i do not believe pictures or anything of the sort should be used in a book like this. Its in fact rather disgusting. Learn latin, it will be the most treasures language of any person who dares call themselves a christian in this modern day. This bible should only be read a a guide to the real thing, NOT as the word of god. And keep in mind, all of the wording is opinionated. English is not worth reading at all with the bible, the book may be handy to warm your hands in a fire, never to follow your gods word. With all respect -FaEx- Ave Satanas.
