Rating: Summary: Unreally Beautiful! Review: This slim volume contains very little text, except for the author's own introductory essay and the occasional amusing quote. The substance of this book lies in the pictures - photographs of abandoned houses, forsaken trailers, boarded-up restaurants and gas stations - run-down, rickety clap-trap dwellings and businesses which apparently dot the landscape on Virginia's Eastern Shore (the counties of Northampton and Accomack). _Unreal Estate_ is a hauntingly-beautiful story, told with images, of humanity's comings and goings in one of the more remote, oft-forgotten places in the USA - a place that has seen little prosperity, mostly because it is so much removed from the worlds of big cities and sprawling farmlands. Neglect, abandonment, and ruin have relegated these places to being poignant reminders of our own transience - especially in the pictures where nature is doing its best to gobble up what traces of habitation we have left behind. In this place, decay _almost_ attains the quality of beauty!
