Summary: Dig this book!
Review: This book is an excellent introduction to the broad topic of Roman pottery. There are many fine books on Greek pottery (note particularly the World of Art series by Boardman), but few scholarly overviews of the artefacts and study of Roman pottery that highlight how valuable it is for interpreting and understanding Roman society. This easily accessible book, written clearly and with good illustrations, complements Greene's "Archaeology of the Roman Economy", a must for any student of Rome. I had previously borrowed this book for study, but found it so valuable and enjoyable that I had to buy it through amazon.com!
