Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An indespensable title
Review: A well thought out and comprehensive dictionary. Includes a wealth of information and photographs and should be on the bookshelf of anyone interested in Ancient Egypt

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Brief but interesting
Review: About 300 pages long with 2-3 articles per page. It is probably not useful for highly knowledgeable Egyptologists (for example, the stunning site of Abu Simbal gets about half a page - whereas a book could be written on it) but is a very compact resource for those who know a little and want to find out about particular topics. Or you can just flick through it and read about particular topics as they catch your eye - the maps, illustrations and photos are well selected and quite attractive. Also, since it is written by Englishmen it is mercifully quite free of the tedious P.C. stuff that is so prevalent in the academy today.
