Rating: Summary: Not "pretty" per se... Review: This book contains hundreds of black and white photos studying gritty, urban Japanese culture (primarily the sights of Tokyo, of course). You won't find lovely images of rock gardens and Mt. Fuji here; instead, one can see the many security cameras placed about, street advertisements, various teen fashions from punk piercings to 5" platform boots, and numerous other unglamorous things that aren't usually placed in tourism brochures. It's a very "real" book, one that reveals the everyday sights of an incredible, modern city.

Rating: Summary: scare Review: This book has beauty, yet its scary. How the men and women dress, I would have never imagined these images. The peircings, the make up. Scary.
Rating: Summary: Incredible Review: This book is an amazing look at Japan. Anyone interested in photography or Japan should at least take a look.
Rating: Summary: concept = blah Review: We get the whole Big Brother gloom and doom thing. Sorry, but it's -so- 1984 (... bad... joke...). But it's a bit outdated for the viewership who would likely find this book appealing, and a bit textually overstated. With the amazing and depthful black and white photography featured, it also stated the message too openly and makes one feel that the reader, somehow, has caught on to the great truth of the book before the book has. The usage of cosplay photography is actually quite interesting and, dare I say, exciting in this book. The combination of subject matter is intriguing and the varienty shown is also heartening when compared with other forms of photography books marketed to the western world from Japan.
