Rating: Summary: In Depth Journey of Heart and Soul Review: I met the author by chance at a book show in Nashville some months ago and I was instantly intrigued. Robin spun a tale of adventure, triumph, pain, and personal implosion that I could not walk away from. I knew right then and there that I must have this book I just recently received my first copy and it is as incredible as the stories Robin spun. The depth, vision, and passion in the art work is indescribable. Each time you open this book you see a new image, feel another emotion, and are drawn deeper into his adventure. Words can not describe the power of this art, at least none I can find. This is a must have for anyone who can look past the shallow illusion of normality at something deeper. If you have a soul then this book is for you.
Rating: Summary: A rural/local prospective Review: I originally looked at this book because I heard the author was a fellow Iowan. I simply perused it in the bookstore and found myself immediately intrigued. I have never personally purchased any "art" books, but this one was different. The author was taking me through a journey, both visually and intellectually. I could see the vision of his trip from rural Iowa to India through his art, its dark beauty, and unforgettable images. I particularly enjoyed the fact that this was more than just a book of art or merely a tale told for entertainment. It did not require me to take any opinion or perspective into account. I was not being diercted in any way toward a sense of an agenda, nor was I told of the artist's intent in any of the images. Rather this book allowed me to envision what the author must have felt and experienced on his travels. This book allowed me to use my imagination, my own sense of beauty, to define how I felt about each individual image. Viewing this book was a fantastic experience. I look forward to this artist's next contribution. Sincerely, Dave welden

Rating: Summary: Expand your mind Review: This is a book, which evokes memories you may never have known you had. It speaks on levels past the mere sense of sight. You feel it in the depths of your soul and it truly comes form one. It stirs a collective memory, something glimpsed yet never wholly seen - maybe until now. Something beyond the grasp of many yet here laid down for all to see and experience. These are timeless, evocative images in a style that will speak to all ages and mindsets, if you want them to or not. If this collection leaves you untouched you are untouchable. So, take a stroll through one mans sojourn (apparently you are most welcome) of a timeless land, with visions and experiences that are themselves timeless in essence. This is a journey one can participate in, as somewhere you will find something that speaks to you, that although foreign initially, will appear familiar and comforting. If nothing else (and it is so much more) it is a superb collection of impressions, expressions, concepts, thoughts, images and realities and as such should be appreciated for that (the least of its qualities)
Rating: Summary: Amazing! Review: Xenophilia was drawn while the author was backpacking through India, Kashmir, and Nepal. Although inspired by the simple necessity of some personal time, the drawings in this book are much more than personal musings by the author. The drawings in this book can be viewed on many levels. From the first look to deeper contemplation, each picture has a great deal to show you. The many intertwined and smaller drawings reveal a great deal about what the author was feeling at the time he drew it. I would recommend this book to anyone with an appreciation for intricate artwork and symbolism. Xenophilia is also not a book to be looked at once and put on a shelf. There is something new to be discovered every time you look at it.
