Rating: Summary: so far so good!!! Review: I am not finished with A Doll House, but overall it has been a great play. With all the suspense in it, you just want to read the last few pages to know what happens. Hopefully, no one will do that. I feel that acting out the play, supposed to just reading, is a more effective way to see the character Nora come out. In general, the play is good.
Rating: Summary: Good so far!!! Review: I am beginning to read Act 3. The Acts ahead are creating suspense for me; I just want to finish the book. Well, so far the book has been good. I feel that this is a good play to watch because then you can get the over all effect on the annoying character, Nora. Hopefully, the end of the book will have an exciting out come.
Rating: Summary: A fulfiling book with use of great satire Review: A Doll's House is a thrilling book which raises many issues. Nora's charachter is so ambiguous you have to read the book several times and it still makes little sense. Nevertheless you understand her motives and relate to her anguish. A great book with spine cringing moments.
Rating: Summary: Nothing earthshaking, but still good Review: This play didn't quite blow my mind with its talent, but it's interesting and has loads of symbolism. Better the second time through than the first. If you can get past the seeming inanity and selfishness of many of the characters (especially Torvald...sometimes i just wanted to smack him, and often Nora wasn't much better)i think Ibsen has some pretty good things to say. Nothing that hasn't been said before, though.
Rating: Summary: Beautifly Written! Review: A strong story. A strong woman. The Jane Fonda film version is great too.
Rating: Summary: A Doll's House was superb! Review: A Doll's House covered not only sexist issues, but personal issues as well. Henrik Ibsen did an excellent job of showing a wife's struggle to overcome the pressures of her marriage. Also, the issues of her personal life come through. This play raises many good questions on ethics, marriage, and life. An excellent play all around.
Rating: Summary: A Deep Book with many meanings Review: The story is hard for some people to understand. If there is no one there to explain things to you that are happening in the book and the symbolism then the average reader would not get the full grasp of the book. If one reads it with the right backgroung it will make all the sense in the world.
Rating: Summary: A Masterwork! Review: This Play is not only a valued addition to Feminism, but to theater in general. Ibsen bravely challenges the "laws" of theater which most playwrights feel they must follo, by given the lead role to a woman. All of her life Nora is treated by men as a mere play thing,a thing of beuty that is to be looked at but not heard. When she tries to rebel from this idea society rejects her. Nora has sacrificed her social status so that she may be free. A classic.
Rating: Summary: The Best Review Is Mine!!! Review: i think this book sucked!!! all it is, is junk there is no point in this book and it doesnt make any sense!!! Word of advise: DONT READ IT!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Amusing and somewhat fun once you get into it. Review: This book is fun and has TONS of symbolism. If you look deeper, the meanings to some of the actions (ex: silk stocking in Ranks face) are put in astoundingly well without seams. Definitely a must read for romantic people as well as someone who likes betrayal.
