Summary: A NEW SOURCE FOR NEW APPROACHES TO FILM ACTING
Review: "The Art of Film Acting" sneaks up on you. It is so readable, common sense, talks with you and not at you, you will probably find yourself shocked and surprised when you suddenly realize you're learning and absorbing a highly sophisticated but simple approach to the craft that delivers curiously complex results that will claim the attention of the most accomplished of actors and critics of film art. Lavish with new and unique approaches to the art but spartan and hard hitting in its "bottom line" delivery. Lush with the requirements of providing a variety of valid information, actual value for its intended use, content of new information or a better understanding of the existing, and the contemporary term, "performer friendly." Jeremiah Comey has accomplished a truly professional achievement, and it's for one reason: It's the same way he approaches his craft.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A must read
Review: Jeremiah has an honest approach when presenting this book. It is very useful, and a definite book to have on your shelf. I have found myself unable to put it down. I would recommend this book for any type of actor wanting to understand and practice his craft too the best of his ability.

Summary: Refreshing, Practical and Hard to Put Down
Review: Jeremiah truly illuminates acting not only for film, but for TV and stage, in this great book. He covers all aspects of what makes for a great performance, really giving practical and refreshing methods, advice and lessons that can be used not only by actors, but directors, screenwriters and all industry professionals. I recently took Jeremiah's 2-day "Power Directing" class. As Jeremiah points out, many of today's great directors (Mel Gibson, Clint Eastwood, etc.) are also actors...so it's absolutely vital to be able to merge the two disciplines when understanding how to direct scenes properly, elicit great performances on camera, edit together the scenes in a cohesive manner to tell the story, etc. I recommend both the book and his 2-day "Power Directing" class, not only for directors, but for actors and writers.

Summary: Brilliant Insight In A Simplified Approach To Film Acting
Review: Jeremiah's ability to convey such a clean and concise approach to film acting is endlessly refreshing, especially to the working actor overhwhelmed by the endless masses of techniques and methods out there. He strips acting down to its very essence and truth through his emphasis on being in the moment and on developing ones skills of observation and listening. His simple wisdom reminds us of what we already know-- what we knew as children and chose to forget-- the endless wonder of a human face, the natural expression of unjudged emotion, how to live openly in the present without expectation, to trust unwaveringly in the given circumstances. Truly a great work and one every actor, director, artist or film enthusiast should have. I will read this book again and again and I do not doubt that one day it will be a staple in any serious actor's collection. Excellent.

Summary: The "Bible" of the Industry
Review: The book is absorbing: I Read it in one day. It is formatted in such a way that it clearly conveys what the exercises are all about.

Since reading it I began lookin at people anew, really focusing on them (as I handn't in years). I found people facinating again. I tried to discern what or how they felt about something in a FLash (You know, Fear, Love, Angry,Sad or Happy).

In the Years to come, I prohesize that The Art Of Film Acting will be regarded as the "Bible" of the Industry.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Very useful advice on film acting
Review: There are only a handfull of good books on the craft of acting for the camera and this is one of them. Mr. Comey has a nice approach, influenced by Charles Conrad and Sanford Meisner, but with his own spin.
Easy to follow, unpretentious, and pratical.
Should be checked out by anyone thinking about a career in film.
