Rating: Summary: Pop Culture meets portraiture meets travelogue Review: Okay, to not know Iooss's work you haven't picked up a Sports Illustrated in the last century. He shoots for things other than SI of course, but that's where you are sure to have seen his work. His style is unmistakeable. His photos rich, often dark, the subject reigns for our attention. You can tell this guy not only loves sports, but is a pretty keen observer of the things of life that surround him. Sporting Life is a weird mix, just like Iooss's work is. There are TONS of polaroids that he's shot of athletes, babes and babe athletes. Rough life. Mixed in with the shots are these bizarre, cool, modern pop collages of newspaper headlines, photos, stuff that he picked up while he was shooting his assignment. On the printed page it looks like a book of assemblage art. I love it. And if you love polaroids, edgy shooting, modern culture, you'll like this diary. If you are someone who thinks portraits must only be serious, featuring high key lighting and the sex appeal of a trout, then avoid this work like the plague!
