Summary: Great coffee table book and conversation piece...
Review: This is a great book on the history of the leaning tower of Pisa...what makes it so unique is that the book is bound on a slant- a clever way considering the subject of the book is the famous leaning tower.

It is a brief but intriguing look at the history on the famous italian tower. this book will be appreciated by many and is great for italian lovers, travelers, history buffs etc. It would make a great present too, because once wrapped, the odd shape would make it impossible to guess.

Summary: A Charming History of the Leaning Tower
Review: This is good book. Although it is relatively short, it contains most of the essential highlights of the Leaning Tower's peculiar history, including pertinent historical information on Pisa, Italy and other Mediterranean cities/countries. Various attempts at straightening the tower, or, at least, stop it from leaning further, are well presented, including the most recent efforts in this millennium. The book is well-written and is difficult to put down. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in a short, easy, yet authoritative history of the life and times of the famous Leaning Tower. (By the way, the book's interesting shape was not a factor in my buying it; although it does make it easy to find on a bookshelf.)

Summary: Doesn't deliver what it promises
Review: This is supposedly a history of the Tower of Pisa, but most of the book focuses on overly detailed information on peripheral material and little on the tower itself. Compared to books like "Michelangelo and the Pope's Ceiling" or "Brunelleschi's Dome," this is a bust.

Summary: Sweet!
Review: This is the coolest looking book I've ever seen. The Tower of Pisa is one of the most recognizable structures on earth, but I had no idea what its history was but for the fact that it had managed not to fall over. Shrady is an assured writer who brings a depth of research and a lite hand to this gem of a book.

The best gift book on earth, bar none.
