Summary: Well done
Review: I liked to read this book because it's different to the others. But in a way it's a bit bizarre. Laura's character seems a bit unreal and dreamy. But I think the comparison between the Glass Menagerie and Laura fits. Especially the symbol of the unicorn is well included. I don't like the hysterical character of Amanda. I don't understand how she treats her children. Anywhere I've read that she treats her children like this because she loves and needs them. In a way I can understand it but otherwise some things she did I don't like. And she cries a bit to much. I ask me why she also make her son go. The end of the story is a bit sad.

Summary: Glass easily breaks
Review: I didn't like the book at the beginning. The whole ambiance and especially the behaviour of Amanda seemed very peculiar to me. But then, with time, I started to like the way Tennessee Williams describes the acting of the characters. I like Tom when he's revolting against his mother. And then this horrible Jim shows up....but you're gonna see. I like the title of the book. It fits perfectly. If you like sensible novels, read this one!

Summary: Good read
Review: The Glass Menagerie is a melancolic play, written by Tennessee Williams. The Wingfield's (Amanda with her two children Laura and Tom) live in a shabby apartment of lower middle-class society. Mr.Wingfield left his family many years before because he missed the adventure and therefor escaped from the daily monotony. The hysterical Mrs.Wingfield gets into trouble with the destiny of her two children: Laura who is slightly cripplet with one leg, left school because of her terrible shyness. Her mother wants her to find the perfect gentleman-caller. It fails. Tom works in a factory, dreaming of the adventure as his father did. His mother suspects him to be a drinker. Uncertainty rules among them.

Summary: Broken Minds
Review: I must say that I've already read better novels. The whole story has too little action for my desires. That kind of review story didn't animate me to read the novel at once. Because you often have to stop and think about what you have read, about the different character and their acting.I normally don't hate, yes I even like, to philosophy but not urgently about these kind of things. Here you HAVE to read the review to understand just the main meaning. I can really imagine that there are a lot of fans of "The Glass Menagerie " who just adore this special kind of play.

Summary: a sensitive story about a extaordinary family
Review: A histerical mother who wants her daughter to get a gentlemancaller as soon as possible. This is the point of the book which at the same time becomes at the same time also a big problem for the whole family. Laura, the daughter, who had broken up high school because of her clumpfoot, is a very shy young woman. She once felt in love with a boy from her chorus at school, Jim. Her brother can organize a date for Laura, inviting a young guy from his ware house.Amanda is as happy as a mother can be. She does all that this evening becomes a succes. When Jim arrives, Laura recognises him with surprise, Jim however doesn't understand. Unfortunately the whole evening doesn't run as Amanda had expected it to be. When Laura hears that Jim already engaged, she again falls back to her depression.

Summary: Not only a normal play
Review: it's a typical book you have to read twice. Between the lines there is written a lot. The whole play makes you hopeless for this tragic family. I couldn't feel with Laura, she drove me furious with her shyness. She is so apathic and without power. Amanda plays her roles perfectly, like in a theater. Tom is the only "normal" person and he does the right thing when he goes away. But he will never leave the family behind him, because he too, he has his problems. This book is a therapy for people who want to commit suicide, because it gives you a compulsion to life. After this book you are so greatful with your relationship to your family, that you love the whole world for a few days.

Summary: read it!
Review: This play tells the story about a family with his sad difficulties. Tennessee had the talent of describing characters so well that you could think he was a psychologist. And because of this well describing you can even learn while you are enjoying this play. Learn about human problems. We read it in class and every time after we'd read a little, our teacher showed us the same we'd read with the film. I must say, that helped really to realise the story with its little details. Personally I preferred the character of Tom. His story is about liberation from his family. I think every person has to go through this period of life. Not in a extreme way as him, but I think this fact makes it easy to feel with him, and to understand his acting.

Summary: Nice Things Happen
Review: Very good play, with strong caracters for example the hysterical Amanda who lives in a world of her own and the extremely faint and shy Laura. Tom is the only realistic person in the family and so you can understand his decision to leave his family. He bears all the responsibility on his shoulders which is too much for one men so he skips the light fantastic. The play is zynical, ironic and sometimes a bit sarcastic. My sentence: really funny!

Summary: The crowning achievement of American literature.
Review: I have seen the play twice in Greece. I have seen it twice in the US. I have read it in Greek, I have read it in English (numerous times). And still, whenever a theater nearby stages this play I still go and see it again and again and again..... Why ? Because its magic. The lights go off and magic starts. Thats theater, at its best.

Summary: Tennessee Williams and the dysfunctional family
Review: Tom is a poet, cynical and tired of his overbearing mother, Amanda, lost in her own world, refusing to see the harshness of reality. His sister Laura is a shy, quiet type of girl with pleurosis. They make up their family of three, their father having left them. It may not seem like much of a plot, but when you read it, there is an insightfulness, an understanding of what Tom feels. Tom, our narrator, calls it a "memory play". We delve into Tom's thoughts and words. It's a well-written, heartfelt play, and should be read by anyone who thinks they have a dysfunctional family.
