Summary: Cool book for shoe lovers!
Review: A great coffee table book for shoes! Color photos with history on every page. Lots of trivia like showing Elizabeth Taylor's beautiful high heel shoes worn during Cleopatra, famous shoe designers favorite high heels like Ferragamo's fantasy shoes, Manolo Blahnik's amazing shoes for different eras, David Evins rhinestone "stop and go" mules for Ava Gardner in 1955 & a twisted pearl sandal for Grace Kelly in 1959. Lots of interesting tidbits throughout and well worth the money to buy this book. If you enjoy shoes you'll love this book! :)

Summary: A quick overview of the shoe
Review: A quick overwiew of the shoe's history and lore, but it is not nearly as insightful as some of the other books that are available on shoes. I love shoes and collect them as fervently as the other readers of the book, but I didn't find it as fabulous as say, the book by Colin McDowell, which offers information that is more intriguing. I think what everyone loves about this book is the small size. But the really cool info about shoes is to be found elsewhere.

Summary: FABULOUS
Review: As a person who cannot stop buying shoes, I had hopes that buying this book would satisfy some of those cravings. Alas, the photographs are so beautiful, and the shoe facts so interesting, I now want to own all of the shoes in the book. Great fun to browse through, and contains one of the better descriptions of Chinese foot binding. I've given the book to most of my shoe-crazed friends, all of whom love it.

Summary: Enlightening and Fun
Review: Being a shoe lover, I found this book very interesting and eye catching. I've read it several times and learn a new thing each time I pick it up! I would recommend it to any and everyone!

Summary: A true shoe extravaganza
Review: For the shoe fanatic, the "shoecoholic" (?!), the conservative and the witty of the shoe world, this is the book for you! Full of excellent photographs, shoe history and designers' profiles, this book will make your mouth water and also wonder how could people were ever able to have worn some of the shoes depicted here. Some models are really incredible. A book to cherish and to enjoy.

Summary: A fabulous book!
Review: Gorgeous photos! Fascinating history and stories. I'm crazy about shoes, but at least I don't talk to them as does shoe designer Andre Perugia (as described in the book). If you're interested in where you can buy shoes from the designers mentioned in 'Shoes', you may be interested in the new book 'How to Find the Shoes You Want', also available through amazon.com.

Summary: Wow!
Review: I never knew there were that many styles and shapes of shoes! I think it's a great book. Not an everyday viriety kind

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great Reference
Review: I was truely impressed with this book. Small and inexpensive, the color photography is clear and unfettered with "ambient props" (the shoes are presented with no backgrounds). The text is concise, informative and witty. While the writing gives historical background, the book makes no pretense of being an indepth scholarly treatise on the history of footwear in the mode of Colin McDowell or June Swann. This is a great nutshell overview of women's shoes; fun and useful for scholars as well as students of shoe design (it includes works by both students and teachers at Fashion Institute of Technology), and your everyday shoe lover. Given the expense of producing books with color photography, this is a great bargain.

Summary: Shoe'wonderful!
Review: Learning about the origin and history of shoes can be fun and is done superbly by the author who provides colorful photos and anecdotes about footwear from different countries, eras and idealisms. A joy to read!
