Review: As a design fanatic and owner of more than 500 decorating books, I can say with certainty that Southern Accents on Color is one of the most beautiful decorating/design books available. The photographs are exquisite and the color combinations fresh and exciting. If you are fan of minimalist design or ultra-modern interiors, you will not like this book. But, if you appreciate traditional or traditional plus modern (what I call contemporary traditional) interiors and gorgeous color, this book is for you. It makes me wish I lived in a gorgeous old house in the American south!

Review: Everyone that owns a home should read this book. Absolutely beautiful photographs are combined with a wealth of knowledge. This author shows you how to mix colors, light and interior design to define the mood and character of a home. Very delightful, informative text that is easy to comprehend and enjoyable to read.

Review: Frances MacDougall and the Southern Accents editors have presented a book filled with beautiful photos and brilliant ideas! This book is extremely well done--from the author's interesting commentary and history of different colors to the actual examples of the way prominent interior designers use the various color schemes...I truly am inspired! I would recommend this book to anyone interested in interior design.

Summary: Fussy and dated
Review: Knowing I love color, my husband just gave this to me, but he should have known better. Maybe it's the old southern thing, but the book has a dated, fussy feeling about it. It's overwhelmingly traditional and lacking the kind of spark that homes in other parts of the country have. Good idea but not inspiring (unless you live in the south, I suppose). Over-done rooms just don't feel right for most of us today.

Summary: Limited in scope
Review: Sadly, this book was a disappointment. The rooms are overdone and overwhelmingly done in dated traditional style. I wouldn't mind some classic traditional decorating, but it looks as if nothing but traditional style has ever made it south of the mason-dixon line! Sorry I bought this one.

Review: This book is wonderful with lots of beautiful photographs. There are colors that I never thought of using in my home, but this book has shown me that I can be adventurous and have splashes of pink or orange or brown, but still have a room look classic and elegant.
