Rating: Summary: Beautiful, Intense, Inspiring, and Original Review: Actually, to be honest, I had checked out the website for this book before hand so I wouldn't have to pay so much money for just one book, but wow. I was amazed. I have seen his two other books, but this one is a lot more personal, and the colors are just fantastic. I flipped through the whole thing without stopping, and at the end I wanted to go outside and start photographing. Buy this book.
Rating: Summary: I have never bought a book so gorgeous. Rating: Summary: An amazing departure Review: I have both of his previous books which I thought showcased the pinnacle of Friedman's career but the idealist takes you on a journey and shows you how broad his vision is. I don't know how one person can deliver such a wide range of photographs and images that seamlessly fit together throughout twenty years. Friedman did it and does it better than anyone. He is an inspiration not only to the artist but also the world. This book will be a classic - the essays alone are worth the price.
Rating: Summary: I can't believe how great this book is. Review: I think GEF's music-centered photography is amazing, but this... this book really opened up a new side of his photography for me. Considering that GEF shoots based on instinct instead of art-school training, The Idealist is really inspiring for a closet-photographer like me: it's beautiful to look at, inspiring to read, and all-around probably the best book I have. Thanks, Glen.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful, Intense, Inspiring, and Original Review: I think this is what an individual photographers book should be. This book is really an inspiration. So beautiful, bold and personal. So much variety in the images. One of my favorite photography books ever. Awesome, thank you Glen E. Friedman.
Rating: Summary: a picture is worth a thousand words! Review: i totally loved this book! definitely his best by far. the images are incredibly crisp. he has a keen eye that everyone can appreciate when looking at the book. definitely worth checking out!
Rating: Summary: amazing photography Review: This guy is a compositional genius. These photos are incredibly precise in their presentation of subject; his intentions are always clear and free of distraction. It is this tight clarity of subject within each individual photo that holds them all together. Otherwise, I think the wide range of subjects would be too jarring (from the awesome skateboarding action photos, to the pure nature landscapes, to the portraits). Between the photos and the thought-provoking essays, I learned a lot about the personality of Glen E Friedman. Inspiring.

Rating: Summary: The best photography book I have seen in a long time Review: Tired of seeing all that fake and cliche art, photo books? Then check out The Idealist. Friedman definitely has a distinct style that you can only get by being real. Friedman's book shows the power of photographs, they make you feel. The best photo book I have in my collection.
