Summary: THIS GRAFFITI BOOK HAS IT ALL!!!
Review: Anyone who loves graffiti and knows anything about it will not be able to put this book down!!! It is packed full of illegal bombing, tags, pieces and huge productions from all over NYC( and yes, pieces can be illegal too- check out some of the great spreads along the Amtrak lines of NYC in the first part of the book). There are so many awesome and original quotes from the graff artists on all types of topics like the paint they use and how they describe their style and even how they got into graffiti. It is really cool that the authors interviewed ALL the graff writers themselves and even have their tags and action shots to prove it. You can really get inside these guys heads!! Overall this book is a must have for anyone interested in graffiti. The panoramic double-page photo spreads and 3 FOOT FOLD-OUTS along with the unforgettable interviews are INCREDIBLE!!!

Summary: Amazing Book
Review: Awesome book on New York City Graffiti with illegal bombs and pieces, legal walls, tons of tags, action shots and crazy quotes from hundreds of artists. Sick fold-outs, mad color and all the boros represented.

Summary: This isn't graffiti, but it's still a decent book
Review: Real graf heads know that productions aren't graffiti. Productions are legal walls done through connections, which most full-time bombers don't have, and often crews pay money for the right to do productions on really good walls. If that's what you think graffiti is, go read "Getting Up" by Craig Castleman and study the chapter about Lee's whole train, because you are a toy and you have no clue what real graffiti is or was.

Regardless, if you're looking for a book showing productions and nasty, unreadable wildstyles, this is it. In fact, most of the pieces in this book appear to be from the same "era" of writing; the wildstyles look very similar and the book is sort of dated already. But there are some nice productions worth a few looks. However, the print is so tiny you can barely read the interviews (many of which weren't even conducted by the authors of the book, but are sound-bites taken from other sources, which is lame).

So basically this book tries to be something it really isn't, and ends up being something you should check out, and only buy if you're building a graff library and have bought the far-better "Art of Getting Over", and the Castelman book.

Summary: Great documentation
Review: This is a great book. It tackles a task that could fill 100 books. Amazing pictures and interviews w/NYC's top writers. Only two criticisms: 1) Type print is TINY! Very taxing on the eyeballs to read the interviews (which, as I mentioned, are incredibly insightful). 2) No illegal bombing. This book does a great job of documenting the productions/legal pieces. And, I suppose if that was the goal of this book, cool. I just would have liked to have seen at least a few pages of bombing. Overall, definitely worth the scrill.

A required addition for an grafitti library , and an excellent introduction for the reader looking for their first graff lit, a nice volume to build a collection from.
