Summary: charcoal and pencil work best
Review: this book was rather helpful to me, yes some picture quality is not perfect, and could be crisper, but it gives some helpful ideas on future projects. Most of the poses in here are not the most comfortable to hold in a sitting for a drawing, so this book is a decient refrence, pictures could be a bit bigger with more veloptuous models. many of these girls are rail thin and need to eat. and very few but appreciated pregnant photos. Overall though i think this book is a good start and will be used wisely

Summary: Good reference for figure drawing
Review: This is a good book with a variety of models in a many poses. Photos are not as good as a live model but this book is better than others.
The only problem is it should be in color since the color changes on the skin in the light are really needed for good painting and drawing.

Summary: a fair reference book
Review: While no reference book can replace an actual studio session with a live model, sometimes it is necessary to refer to books such as the "nude figure". Unfortunately, finding a good PHOTO book for reference is very difficult. I already know how to draw, I'm just looking for a good photo sourcebook to keep a practiced hand. This book, while having some shortcomings, is one of the better photo reference books I've found. On the plus side, there a lots of photos with lots of different poses. Most of the models are obviously experienced, judging by the wide variety of poses. On the minus side, 1)the photos are too small, 2)the photos tend to be flat and grainy, not enough contrast to reveal the models structure underneath the surface , 3) the models are 90% female, and they all seem to have similar body structure. They tend to be on the thin side, some of them even have boyish figures. I'd be willing to pay more for a book that is larger and have better photos. Relative to the other books on the market, however, I would have to say this is a fairly good sourcebook.
