Rating: Summary: RENT was STOLEN from Sarah Schulman Review: RENT was STOLEN from Sarah Schulman's "People In Trouble"...Check out "Stage Struck: Theater, AIDS, and the marketing of gay America"
Rating: Summary: This is a great book and play. Review: I got a great chance to see the play when it was in Seattle. The play was great and the book is also great.
Rating: Summary: Life changing and amazing! Review: Of all the books and of all the plays I have ever seen or read, this is by far the best one of all. Every time I read it, I find something else to remember in life. There are so many lessons about life and love and learning that it should be given to every person who's ever felt love or depression. There are only 525,600 minutes in a year. How do you measure them?
Rating: Summary: A must have theatre book Review: GET THIS BOOK IF YOU LOVE RENT!!!!!! If you're a Rent fan, you can't afford NOT to have this book. It really really touched me in many ways, and it was sooo fascinating. You can read the entire libretto, or learn about the actors, the characters, and of course, the writer, Jonathon Larson. This book definitely deserved the Best Book award, and any Rent fan definitely deserves this book!! *tara
Rating: Summary: Brings Broadway Home Review: This is a must have for any theatre-goer and even more so for any avid theatre fan who, due to distance or lack of financial security, does not get to frequent Broadway as often as one would like to. Beautifully written through the voices that were behind Rent, visually addictive with photographs and unique graphic peices around every corner, Rent is not a book to miss. I proudly tote it in my car for all passengers to read.
Rating: Summary: A must read for Rent fans Review: I found the book to be as inspirational as the show itself. I could not put the book down, and I finished it in one night. The show completely blew me away, and the book explained to me how the creative team achieved that goal. I feel like I know Jonathon Larson personally since I read the book, and saw the pictures of his notes and letters. I certainly wish he was still here to bring us another incredible show like Rent.
Rating: Summary: The Book Is Just As Great as the Show! Review: I went to see RENT without knowing anything about it, and I am thankful for that because I had a really open mind, no expectations and the show blew me away. I just got the book, and I could not put it down, Jonathan's friends, family, and colleagues tell the story of RENT's birth and subsequent climb to be the musical of the 90's! If literally makes you feel that you know him. It is definetly a must have for any RENT lover!
Rating: Summary: An outstanding tribute to an amazing man and his dream Review: Rent takes on the format of a book, with pages, words, and a cover, yet the mark it leaves upon its reader is just at strong as that of the play. If you are a fan of Rent, or even a fan of life, you cannot afford NOT to buy this book. I give this book five stars, but it deserves so much more.
Rating: Summary: Broadway's best musical and the genius who wrote it. Review: This is the greatest book I have ever read. I have listened to RENT for a while, but I had to know more. In this book, I got the backstage view, onstage view, Jonathan's life, death, and cast reaction. The list of accomplishments at the end are the greatest and the bios at the end are conventient especially if you've "seen that face before." The book and the story itself is compelling and moving. So much, in fact, that a friend of mine and I are going to audition in 3 years when we turn 21. If the story is that moving to us, I suggest that everyone read it. It makes you think and portrays "actual reality."
