Summary: No Day But Today to buy this book :)
Review: Wow. This book gives a fabulous "behind the scenes" look at the creation of Rent, with a lot of information about its late author, Jonathan Larson. It also has the complete libretto with lots of amazing photography. I highly recommend this book to any Renthead, or anyone who appreciates a beautiful work of art.

Summary: No Day but Today
Review: Rent for me was one of the most amazing experiences of my life so far. It touched me so much and to see it put together in this book is so incredible for me. If you love RENT half as much as I did this book is definatly for you. Johnathan Larson is an amazing man and I know we will all see him again very soon.

Summary: "No Day But Today!"
Review: I recieved this book or Christmas and I haven't been able to put it down. I've read it over and over a million times (as it seems)! I'm a huge "Rent-Head", and I have been from the start. The musical and the CD blew my mind away but this behind the scenes and historical book that looked at Jonathan Larson's life and his creation of "Rent" really amazed me. I reccomend this book to anyone that has the same burning desire for "Rent" and who feels the power in a way that no one has ever felt. Even though I'm in high school, this book has touched and moved me in a way that no one has ever touched or moved me before.

Summary: The term "Coffee table" doesn't do justice to this book
Review: I've had the pleasure of being able to peruse this massive collection of memories and lyrics when my older brother brought it home one night and accidentally left it for a week or so. The recollections and reminiscences of the players make one understand how radical and powerful a thing Rent was (and is) when it first came out. Best of all, though, it creates a singular picture of Jonathan Larson and his life (the guy wore only one pair of sneakers for years on end as he saved his money to work on his musical) and, together with his wonderful Rent, the two serve as great lasting rememberances from this artist living the life bohemian.

I've always remember the night I saw Rent at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles, three (or was it four?) years ago. Thanks to the wonderful contractual agreement made in honor of Jonathan Larson, my brother and I were lucky enough (after quite a wait) to get front row tickets for twenty dollars. Absolutely glorious. Perfect to the extreme. Angel balancing precariously on the table in her god-knows-how-tall-spikes, Roger belting out "One Song Glory" like a sonic ampliphier, the magnificence of hearing "Seasons of Love" as the curtains opened for the beginning of the second act. One of the best anecdotes I have is about the opening number (well, the fourth number), when Mark as played by Neil Patrick Harris (yes, THAT Neil Patrick Harris of Doogie Howser, MD fame!) erupted gloriously into "Rent" and a globule of his spittle flew, arced and landed on my right pant leg. Thanks to Jonathan Larson, I can now proudly say I am the owner of khakis once stained by the saliva of Doogie Howser.

Okay, even if you don't buy the book, at least somehow see the musical. Do what I did - wait in line for the twenty dollar tickets for the first two rows. Anyway, happy hunting, all you Rentheads. :)

Summary: Like Rent?? Buy the Book!
Review: This book is a must- have for anyone who enjoyed the show Rent. It tells the story of how rent came to be, starting with a biography of Jonathan Larson, the man behind the show. It has in- depth interviews with Jonathan's family, friends, and any affiliates who were involved in the creation of Rent. It also includes colorful photos and interviews of the original cast members of Rent, so any Taye Diggs or Adam Pascal fans may want to add this book to their collection. Included in the book is the Liberetto for the play, complete with all the lines, lyrics, and even some stage direction. If you are a fan of rent, this book is something you MUST own! Amaze your friends with your complete and detailed knowledge of this fabulous show!

Summary: For die-hard fans
Review: This book may be a bit overwhelming for anyone who isn't completely devoted to Jonathan Larson's Rent. The book is huge, and designed with a similar disarray to that present in the posters of the OBC. It takes you behind the writing process and into the mind of Jonathan Larson, who always seemed so brilliant and so mysterious. You get a look at close look at Rent from the time it was being concieved (Larson's notes are included), to its birth at the NYC Theatre Workshop and you can watch it mature to the stellar Broadway production just by turning the pages. It's full of great photos, and you can even get your hands a the Liberetto! Well worth it for a true fan, this book makes the show seem even more real than most Broadway plays.

Summary: Dream come true
Review: I've loved RENT for a year, and listened to the soundtrack and tried to learn all I could before actually seeing RENT. This book was a dream come true! It told all about everything. A great feature, is that what it says is always a quote from someone: friends, family, or actors in the play. It has great images, and explains them all. This book is very well put together, and incredibly interesting to read.

Summary: if you're a fan, this is a must-have
Review: After having seen RENT several times, but never having been able to see the OBC, reading this book was like taking a walking tour of backstage during the days of the original cast. But not only that, it gave me so much more information on how Jonathan came up with the story and how the characters became who they are. It details very carefully and lovingly who Mr. Larson was, how he spent his time and the evolution of his idea. This book is chock-full of interesting, encouraging, and insightful information, and if you're a fan, not necessarily a total RENThead, but just anyone who wants to know a bit more about the show, I highly recommend this beautifully-put together book.

Summary: Moving, brilliant and involving.
Review: I saw RENT in 1997 in St. Paul at the Ordway. I fell in love with it. I'm a nineteen year old now, but it meant a lot to me as a teenager to see something so beautiful put on stage. When I saw this book sitting on the shelf I had to have it! I added to my collection of musicals and soundtracks. It almost never leaves my side-I read some of it every night. Jonathan Larson was an artist in every sense of the word. It gives me hope. RENT brightens my ordinary and usually boring life.

Summary: 'Rent', A Passionate Masterwork
Review: What can I say. Rent, has changed many peoples lives. It's harmony that rattles through our distorted minds, seems to below to us like a sad angel that is about to sing. Words are not needed to describe it's passionate beauty.
