Summary: A must read if your having trouble photography at night!
Review: I picked up photography approx. 2 years ago. I have always had trouble getting the right exposure for my night shots. After reading Lee Frost's book, my pictures have improved tremendously. Lee covers everything, from shooting indoor to outdoor. It's well worth the money. Stop wasting film and get this book!

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: not much real substance
Review: I was disappointed that the book, although having some interesting but not excellent pictures, does not really give more guidance than to say, "go out at dusk and shoot some pictures." I was hoping for more empirical starting points to assure a higher likelihood of success in night shooting. The details of light conditions, equipment and film used in specific scenes is often incomplete, making it difficult to really use the info.

Summary: Outstanding book
Review: If you think out door photography is done as soon as the sun sets then this is the book for you. All assured, this will change your basic perception. Lee in this book encourages you to go out shooting soon after the sun has set, and then he provides you with some very important insight into the usage of available light which helps you long way to take some stunning and very satisfactory photographs.
The book is desinged to be for beginners and intermediate skill level photographer. It starts with discussing the equipments such as which camera to use, what kind of film/lense/fiters etc. to use which in my opinion may not be very usefull for a photographer who already have an SLR camera and know how to use it. (If you have just bought a new SLR camera and don't know what to do go for the best - National Geographic Photography Field Guide).
However the real meat of the book comes in the two chapters "Understanding light" and "Metering and Exposure". Here Lee goes step by step providing you very helpful information and insight into the basic fundamentals in very simple and encouraging language.
I won't mind paying my money for the contents of just these two chapters.
In addition to that it is filled with plenty of inspiring photographs with explainations.
Overall a must if you haven't done any evening/night photography.

Summary: If you own a camera, buy this book.
Review: Lee Frost gives detailed descriptions of how to create unforgettable photographs in low light conditions. The accompanying photographs show just what can be done in low light, and each picture gives a detailed explanation of how it was created. He gives full explanations of how every feature of a camera can be manipulated to create different effects in such clear language that a beginner can understand yet the techniques and tips are just as useful for the professional. This book will open your eyes to new ideas and techniques.

Summary: Excellent Book!
Review: Man was this book ever helpful to me! I bought this book because I went to Europe almost 2 years ago and came back and developed rolls that didn't produce a single usable picture. I was planning another trip to correct my photo mistakes (I wanted the Eiffel Tower and London's Tower Bridge at night). I bought the book, read it and applied the SIMPLE steps during my last Euopean trip (aug 00). Not only did each of my night rolls (24 exp) produce at least 23 usuable pics, but 3/4 of them are professional/identical to the examples in the book. I was also able to help my friend take great night shots as well. BUY THIS BOOK and use that 'AP mode' as he said! Both will help you.

Summary: Excellent Choice
Review: Must say that this is a very well written book. I am not among the ones who can concentrate enough to complete any book end-to-end, but this one really got me glued on.
The book takes you through the nity-grities of the camera and its accessories like the lens, the filters, the tripods, etc. After this, it has dedicated chapters that will explain shooting techniques in various situations like Christmas, Times Square, Night landscapes, etc. Plus, a good section on painting with Flash light is really interesting.
Been halfway thru the book and already started workin my Nikon in Manual mode with great results.
Proud of myself for having bought this book. ;)

Summary: fantastic book
Review: one of the best books on the subject i have come across, very well structured with chapters starting from some basics, passing into the choice of equipment, and films, then a thorough exhusting chapter on exposure and metering, it also contains excellent chapters describing different situations and how to handle them...
the pictures are really stimulating, but in order to get similar results you need a heavy weight pocket, as most of the photos were taken with fast lens that are not cheap basically, but thats not the books' fault!!
i highly recommend it and i am glad i baught it, at a price so low for it's real value.

Summary: Great book for those starting up in low-light photography
Review: Quite a valuable addition to my photo books collection. For a beginner in the night-time photography, a must have, full of tips, techniques and actual useful numbers, such as shutter speeds, apertures, reciprocity breakdown correction values etc. in different low-light situations. Those guys who say the actual numbers are not there did NOT read the book - they flipped through it without paying attention. To sum up - for a beginner in low-light picture taking, a good buy for the money. (...)

Summary: Great book if you know the basics..
Review: The book is good if you have a little bit of understanding of photography - i.e. understanding of aperture, shutter speed etc.

Then this book will give you a lot of good tips on how to make better photographs. If you are a rank beginer trying to understand photography then I won't recommend this book.
Intially I learnt a lot of stuff from the internet, but then when I read this book it defineitly improved my photography skills in low light conditions.

Summary: Same Same....
Review: The book itself is really not too bad. The writing is good and he explains himself ok, but if you've allready read one guide book on photography and you're looking for more in dept information, you're not going to find it here. The book starts out with general info on different cameras and equiptment, then moves on to telling a bit about light and exposure and finnishing of with a lot of exampels, though the pictures are ok, it dosen't inform you about what kind of films, filters, exposure etc. that has been used for each picture. Bottom line; A general GUIDE book like the others.
