Summary: very boomy
Review: not a quality piece. i usually like KLH products, but this is definitely a case where you get what you pay for.

the sound is loud, but very boomy and not controllable at all. i played around with it for a few hours and had to take it back - it was worthless to me. and i'm not an audiophile.

i eventually bought a jbl PB10 and it's considerably better. it's twice the price, but worth it for the improvement in sound.

best of luck!

Review: Since I see a lot of people complaining about these subs, I just want to make sure people are setting them properly. Before you hook the sub up, slowly turn up the volume on your other 5 channels until they are as loud as they can go without distorting. Then disconnect those speakers and hook the sub up, keeping that volume the same. For the crossover, check the frequency response of the sub, and then set the crossover to slightly lower than that to give it some leeway (like if frequenct response is 20-150hz, set it to 100hz or 125hz) This will minimize distortion from the sub since it won't be trying to play notes that are almost out of it's range. Now with the sub hooked up, start with the gain at minimum, and slowly turn it up as high as you can without it distorting. Turn the volume back down, hook your speakers back up and enjoy. Taking these steps will optimize the quality of sound, and will keep your amp and sub running longer since it won't be overworking itself.

Summary: Great Sub at a low price
Review: This is a great sub-woofer. As said in other reviews, it does have port noises. I found these only when I had the sub in the middle of my room. Any sub in a port enclosure is going to have port noises. If you place the sub correctly the noises go undeteced even at max volume levels. As for the people that blew the sub or the amp, that is from running too much power to the amp. I have 30 watts rms running to it and I get thunderous bass with the amp set at less than half power. I highly recomend this sub-woofer!

Summary: This product has greatly improved by audio system.
Review: This subwoofer was very easy into integrate into my audio system. The tonal quality of the bass is completely adjustable and the front firing speaker gives you many options for placement in the room. I thought my system was very fine, but the addition of this subwoofer has made an unbelievable difference. The improvement in overall audio quality is amazing.

Summary: very boomy
Review: This subwoofer worked great during action scenes, but during the quieter scenes it had a really annoying humming sound coming from it and it made it hard to concentrate on dialogue. I played with all the dials and made sure the wires were plugged in correctly, but it didn't help. After the warranty expired, so did the subwoofer. I have to give the subwoofer a rating of 2 stars because it did perform well during action scenes, but that is the most I can give it. I will never buy KLH speakers again. It wasn't worth the aggravation and added expense in the long run.
