Summary: Simply Shania -- as she really is --
Review: For all Shania/Bluegrass fans this one's terrific. Because of the smaller audience, her performance along with world class blue grass fantastics - AKUS - provides solid entertainment along with insight into the real Shania. The "personal approach" of this DVD excells any of her performances to the masses. Jerry Douglas' performace immaculate, too.

Summary: Shania is GREAT but this DVD isn't
Review: I loved the intimacy of Shania's show on this DVD. And I really loved hearing her with Allison Krauss & Union Station--it really was a back to her roots thing for Shania. I really like to hear her more "country" and she definitely was in this performance. And as always Shania really tries to spotlight others, etc. But her voice is just incredible and you can really hear it in this not-so-amped-up performance and it kind of overshadows--which is a good thing.
What I didn't like was the [sound] recording. Initially I had it on 5.1 (I have a pretty nice home theater system) and was surprised at how poor it sounded. Yes I am spoiled, but I expected more. I had to back it down to 2.0 stereo for it to sound halfay decent. That's the reason I rated it only 4 stars. It was also a little "short" too. I wish she'd have done a couple extra encore songs.
The extras on the DVD were good too. Shows a lot of Shania in the pre-concert mode. Always a classy woman. Thanks Shania.

Review: I own this dvd and it's a great concert. Shania demonstrates that she can do bluegrass as well as rock and country. A must for the shania fan. If your interested in seeing what all the fuss is about you'll want to check this out for yourself.

Review: Shania and ALISON K. performs together country versions of some
of SHANIA's greatest country songs.
Shania gets personal with the audience and tells us her very funny, stage fright, story.
She has re written the words to AC/DC 'S , "you shook me all night long " The female version which shows off some of HER lyricical MAGIC that she is famous for.
A MUST HAVE for ALL SHANIA fans and for those who say that she can't sing and who say that she is NOT country.
This DVD speaks for itself!
ALSO included is a documemtary about what SHANIA does before a gig.......people are going to be blown away by how much she actually does [MUTT wasn't even there]
1 PART OF THIS INSIGHTFUL BEHIND THE SCEENS LOOK , is SHANIA helping ALISON and UNION STATION with ways to sing the more challenging parts of some of SHANIA'S songs.
You see SHANIA , singing by herself and singing very ,very well.
It has ALL COUNTRY INSTRUMENTS because they are country songs and it has some of the BEST CONCERT SOUND that I have ever heard.............AWESOME!
SHANIA, has now won 28 BMI AWARDS ! the latest being for the massive hit FAFA! as the true... COUNTRY song of the year for 2003.
What do the CMAS know any way? Not very much.Since SHANIA was the COUNTRY BILLBOARD artist of the year for 2003 and had the largest grossing COUNTRY tour of 2003!

Review: Shania knows how to put on a great show for her fans. This setting is even more intimate than the all-around arena she had during her Up! world tour. This special features songs from Up! Come On Over and The Woman In Me. But most of all, she performs with Alisson Krauss and Union Station on this special! I got to see it on NBC and absolutely loved it! It gave it a home-feel sound to the songs. Very country-ish if you will. This is a must for all SHANIA fans! here and all over! The best thing about this performance is she does her own rendition of AC/DC's classic "You Shook Me All Night Long" with some of the lyrics redone. LUV IT TO PIECES!

Review: SHANIA TWAIN , has an absolutley great DVD , out now.UP! CLOSE and PERSONAL .....shows the WORLD just how much she does before a concert, herself , from a band leader to a singing teacher. MUTT LANGE , isn't even in this. The DVD has a 25 minute documentary on SHANIA before this gig.
She proves once and for all that she is a great COUNTRY, singer. The concert is with country FIDDLE master ALISON KRUSS, and it will just blow your mind. Some of Shania's greatest songs , all country versions, are played with COUNTRY instrumemts . More songs are shown, than on the T.V. special, in NASHVILLE. For those who love COUNTRY music , this is the DVD for you. And just for FUN, SHANIA, throws in a female version of the AC/DC song " you shook me all night long " from a female point of view! PURE GENIUS and SHANIA, is the real deal! This DVD proves that beyond any dought!

Review: This DVD is really a treat. The extras features are the icing, but the really cake is the performance. Stripped of all the high gloss production, the songs take on a new shine, and are definitely more country than her more recent material. It's a welcome change and I would love to see Up Close and Personal released as an audio CD. It even beats the newly released Greatest Hits package.

Review: This was a special that was aired on NBC about a year ago. The DVD contains extra footage and songs that weren't in the original program. I like this DVD because it shows that Shania really can sing live, it's a very intimate concert with special guests Alison Kraus & Union Station. The tracklisting is as follows:
