Summary: Entertaining Western
Review: I am not a fan of westerns, but I saw this movie because I love most of the cast members. The movie is a hoot, if you're in the mood, and nobody does a death scene better than Leonardo!

Summary: This delivers testosterone and that's all I wanted.
Review: I've read a lot of mediocre reviews of this film and I have to believe that people are looking too deep. This movie is a pure blast all the way through. Not all movies have to have complicated plot lines, character development, and scholarly dialogue. The characters in this film are used as cannon fodder. All one learns is that Mr. X is tough. Then Mr. X dies. This movie is about people being tough, rugged, and mean. This movie is about amazing camera work surrounding dialogue of intense bravado. Movies like Airplane are simple movies about other people's scripts, packed full of jokes. And if one appreciates the art in good slapstick, that's all one wants -- the idea is to laugh hard. The Quick and the Dead makes no argument for being classic literature, but what it does do is present an amazingly quick, intense series of moments that make the viewer laugh and say "WOW!" In any good action film, which scenes do you like best: the scenes where the hero is getting beat up or the scenes where the hero is kicking everyone's butt all the while delivering one-liners? The Quick and the Dead knows what pumps up the action movie viewer and only delivers that. And I can't fault it. And who's to say what's supposed to motivate a western? I only watch Clint Eastwood westerns to see him deliver the punishment we all know is coming. Sam Raimi says "why wait," let's get to the action.

Summary: Good grief...
Review: How corny can you get? Seeing sunlight through a man after he's been shot? Come on, wouldn't there be blood? Seeing a bullet hole through a man's head? Still corny because you have no blood, no brains, and th guys stands there for a while. But someone gets shot in the eye and they do flips? Dicrapio *****, Stone is a wanna-be Clint "the man" Eastwood, and Hackman is unbelivable. The preacher, Cort, is played by Russel Crowe of LA confidential fame. Is he good in this movie? Yes and no. LA Confidential he is more belivable. All in all, don't see it. See the Unforgiven

Summary: Parody!
Review: The Quick and the Dead carries on the idea of western parody, previously set by the Wyatt Earp adventure story, "Tombstone". If you enjoyed the beforementioned film, then you should love The Quick and the Dead! The trick is to not take it too seriously as a western. It wasn't meant to be.

Summary: Sharon Stone as tough cowgirl ? hmm.... yeah !
Review: This is yet more evidence that Stone never outdid her performance in Casino. She is totally miscast in this role and the plot is very weak.

Summary: Not too shabby
Review: I found myself enjoying this film more than I thought. It's so rare to get a film where a female gets to play the rugged hero, so when there is such a film, some leeway should be given. Raimi utilizes some excellent camera work and I rather thought the quiet moody close up shots of Stone worked. All in all, the movie has a lot going for it...except the dialogue and some rather empty scenes. Up against that, it's difficult to rank any movie as great. But, it's a fun watch and if you take into account you're not going to see something grand, you'll enjoy yourself.

Summary: The excellence is in the details
Review: Never mind the ordinary revenge plot and the stupid dialogue (full of 20th-century phrases like, "You have a problem with me?")--just sit back enjoy the other aspects of the film, which are all excellent: snappy direction, great sets and set dressing, beautiful costumes and props, etc. Particularly noteworthy is the superb sound track with its sonorous gunshots, boots on the boardwalk, creaking wood and leather, and jangling spurs. Also very fine is Alan Silvestri's effective score. The cast is tops, for the most part, and the actors all appear to be having fun with their colorful characters and little bits of stage business (Lance Henriksen trimming his moustache, Keith David smoking his Meerschaum pipe). In short, the movie has a rich texture and is very well-crafted. Too bad the story and dialogue aren't anything special.

Summary: Female Gunslinger Movie
Review: Sharon Stone is excellent in this movie. Stone seeks revenge against Hackman for his part in her father's death. She has been preparing for that moment most of her life. Stone enters a contest of gunslingers...will she have her vengeance? Is she good enough? Check it out!

Summary: An all-star cast and fantastic performances!
Review: I'd heard mostly bad reviews of the movie before I saw it over 3 years ago, and I have to say, those people were totally wrong! The Quick and the Dead has gone on to be one of my favorite movies! Leonardo DiCaprio, who is my all-time favorite actor and has been for 4 years now, does a great job playing "The Kid" and Sharon Stone, Gene Hackman, and Russell Crowe were also fantastic! I only wish they hadn't cut so many scenes from the movie...Get those bad reviews out of your heads, folks! This movie's incredible!!!
