Summary: Excellent retelling Of The Earp Story
Review: This is one of my favorite movies. Despite a few artistic deviations from historical fact, this movie resembles the actual Earp story better than most that have come before it. Dramatic and well-acted, I would consider this movie a must for any Earp buffs out there, as well as for those who just love a good western. Kurt Russell actually resembles Earp a great deal, and seems to capture some of the seeming hipocracies of the famous lawman. I my opinion, Val Kilmer, usually underrated as an actor, delivers a wonderful, over-the-top performance as Doc Holliday, almost stealing the movie.

Review: This is the best movie I have seen, the action is great. I think that Val kilmer did an exelent job as Doc holiday. This movie keept me intrested from the beginning, it made such an impresion on me that one year after seeing the movie I went to Tombstone Arizona, to see some of the places that were shown in the movie. The actors in the movie did a great job,is such a great movie that you must see.

Summary: Needs Better Sound
Review: I love the movie, but it's a shame that it's only offered in 2.0 sound. In this day and age all DVD's should have 5.1 or DTS. Again, it's a great movie but I'd like to see a second release with "real" surround sound! The 2.0 surround sound dosen't do the gun fights any justice.

Summary: Much Better Than I Thought It Would Be.
Review: My former boss James told me this was a good movie, so I decided to rent it. As someone who likes Marlowe, Shakespeare, and Dickens, I was not really expecting a great movie. Boy was I wrong! The movie is NEVER boring. The images are well done, and the characters are quite captivating. The Earps build suspense well when they do not want to get involved in what's going on, but gradually find out they have no choice. Wyatt is convincing when a death in the family kills his spirit for a moment, but soon afterwards it unleashes his full fury. It is interesting how he compares himself to the 4 horsemen in Revelation. I also found it striking that some of the cowboys (the bad guys) eventually got so tired of how far their colleagues were going, that they switched right over to Wyatt's side. Kilmer and Elliot are over the top as Virgil and Doc Holiday. (Who would have thought that these actors would combine so well? Well they did!) I will conclude by saying that the movie is NOT just action. The story is well constructed and convincing. Would you believe there is even a brief scene of Marlowe's "Faustus" and Shakespeare's "Henry V?" Even if you don't really like westerns, you will probably like this one.

Summary: I'm your huckleberry!
Review: Of course, Val Kilmer as Doc Holiday did not say, "I'm your buttercup." That would be silly. He said several times to great effect when told the bad guys he was ready to fight, "I'm your huckleberry." There was another great moment when one of the drunken Cowboys made sarcastic remarks about Doc's piano playing and Doc replied, "that was Frederick 'bleepin' Chopin." Kilmer stole the whole show but Tombstone had a great cast and great action. It is an unforgettable western.

Summary: Am I the only one who thinks this movie is rubbish?
Review: This must be a cult movie because of all the glowing reviews. Let me speak for the rest of humanity and point out that this is a terribly made picture. Every phrase uttered by Val Kilmer ia a calculated, forced bit of cutesiness that Kilmer, himself, can't help but smirk as he says them. It is totally silly. "Im You're Huckleberry", "Are we cross?", "I have not yet begun to defile myself". He's obviously going for laughs here. Doc Holliday, in real life was a haggard, 50 year old southern gentlemen who was a bitter, ruthless killer. Kilmer displays none of these traits (he certainly doesn't look 50 and he was having too much fun playing the role.) For a much better portrayal of Doc Holliday, see Dennis Quaid in the superior (but somewhat flawed) Wyatt Earp.Kurt Russell fares somewhat better as Wyatt Earp. He wasn't miscast like Kilmer. He actually looks the part but, as in Kilmer's case, was given a poor script to work with and was given bad direction. There are several lines where he uses the wrong tone or emphasis. His long-time friend, Doc Holliday is dying in a sanitorium. So after being all choked up about it, he stands up, suddenly smiles, and glibly says "Thanks for always being there, Doc." I guess they ran out of poorly scripted dialogue at the end of this travesty because most of it is a montage of action footage that is mostly pointless. Russell's Wyatt Earp shows no drive for revenge after his brother Morgan was killed. Yet we are supposed to believe he became vengeful when the film shows Earp killing seemingly every bad guy in the west.

Review: Kurt Russell can play a tough yet romantic guy better than any action star in Hollywood. He and Val Kilmer are fabulous in Tombstone. The plot was refreshing, new, interesting. Don't bother with Wyatt Earp w. Kevin Costner, just see Tombstone! Again and again and again...

Summary: Kurt Russell Captures the Spirit of Wyatt Earp
Review: Of all the portrayals over the years that Hollywood has done of the man who was Wyatt Earp, Kurt Russell has really captured the essence of "The Man". He shows Wyatt as not only someone who was a larger than life, lawman, but a man who was caught up in circumstance, a man with hopes, frustrations - lusts, even fears just like the rest of us. The performance was in my opinion, one of the finest that Kurt Russell has ever done. Val Kilmer as Doc Holiday was outstanding. He was, interestingly enough, the first actor to bother to portray Holiday as a man with a Southern accent. Sam Elliot and Bill Paxton were also outstanding in their roles and overall this film, though not 100% historically accurate, did a fine job. It is one of my top five favorite films.

Summary: BEST WESTERN/ACTION MOVIE----EVER!! DESTINED TO BE CLASSIC
Review: I HAVE SEEN THIS MOVIE IN EVERY FORMAT AVAILABLE (DVD WIDE SCREEN IS BEST) IT NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ME. THE CHARACTERS ARE AS COLORFUL AS ANY OF DICKENS. THE SOUNDTRACK DESERVES SPECIAL RECOGNITION FOR ITS OVERPOWERING SCORE. THE ACTING INTERPLAY IS THE STUFF OF SEASONED PROFESSIONALS. IN ITS ZEST TO TAKE THINGS TOO SERIOUSLY THE ACADEMY HAS OVERLOOKED WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE NOMINEE AND RECIEPIENT OF THE 1993 AWARD FOR BEST PICTURE. WATCH IT ONCE THEN WATCH IT AGAIN---YOU WILL BE HOOKED.

Summary: NOT JUST ANOTHER WESTERN
Review: As somewhat of a film buff, I know the films I like, and the films I don't... certain genre's run me cold; western's being one of them.. that was until I saw this. I bought it because I'm collecting all the Val Kilmer films and of course everyone raved at how good it was. As I said I don't like westerns, but gave it the benefit of the doubt... and I have to say that it goes way beyond your average shoot-out. Kurt Russell plays a brilliant Wyatt, but Val steals the show with his portrayal of Doc Holliday, a man dying of TB, but with dignity. Even though he was dying he still stayed loyal to his friend to the end. Once you get over the initial shock of nearly every man with a moustache you start to enjoy the actual film. Granted there are a few continuity errors but what film doesn't have those.. It had an all-star cast to support these two hollywood giants.. Michael Biehn who played Johnny Ringo was excellent, as were the likes of Sam Elliot and Stephen Lang (The Hard Way, Guilty as Sin).. and of course the two Titanic guys, Bill Paxton and Billy Zane..Bill Paxton has been in so much and yet he never seems to get the recognition he deserves. A last comment : A definite must see..
