Rating: Summary: ...Hysterical Review: ...This is one funny movie. This is not a movie where a sterling acting performance convinces you that an actor is a different person, or where some fundamental truth aboot human nature is revealed. This is a movie where you laugh your [head] off because of dialog about moccasins, quitters, and big. . . fat. . . books. And if the scene with the insanely effiminate bookstore owner is revealed to be a hardcore bad [dude] doesn't just slay you then you have deep issues. This is one of the great sleeper movies of the 90s'.
Rating: Summary: OK Movie Review: Although I didn't think this movie was as bad as some of the people who reviewed it, I also don't think it's John Candy's best. One thing that might be missed is if you don't know your western history well you won't get some of the jokes!

Rating: Summary: Mediocre Comedy Review: Although I love Candy in every film I have seen him in, I was disappointed in this one.... it is slow, looks like it had rewrites along the way, possibly due to his death, but good for a few chuckles along the way. The characters, except for the two leads, are very good and really shine. But Candy is weak in his role, leaving much of his talent by the wayside... again maybe because of his death and scene cutting. I never cared for Richard Lewis and his is just as weak as Candy in this film. The price is right and the editing, photography, and supporting cast make it a worthwhile purchase. The film was poorly written, but comes out as a C+ film overall on DVD.
Rating: Summary: light amusment Review: Certainly not a typical John Candy film, and unfortunately his last one. It is amusing, though--a light-hearted spoof about a bunch of people heading west, who get disgusted and head east, back home. It's not hilarious, but it will make many people smile. There is some clever stuff, such as the bit about putting the wagons in a square instead of a circle, so the Indians will have to circle farther away from the wagons. The running joke about the deranged (and definitely gross) brothers is funny. How they spend their evenings lighting up the sky with a flaming torch will appeal to the child in everyone.
Rating: Summary: I thought this movie was stupid Review: I do like John Candy but not his last movie. I thought this movie was going to turn out good since it was his last film but it didn't. He had good acting in this movie but I thought this movie was waste of time. It was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. DO NOT PLAN ON SEEING THIS MOVIE!
Rating: Summary: Worst Movie ever! Review: I have never seen a movie this bad.
Rating: Summary: Good Movie Review: I highly enjoyed this movie. Some reviewers say you have to know your history, but [thats not true]. All you have to know is who the Donner Party was. John Candy's death was unfortunate, but it did not "jinx" the movie. I think it is one of his best. The gay book store owner, Julian, does steal the show, however. All in all a good movie.

Rating: Summary: Funny! Review: I was really pleased with this movie. It had lots of funny parts, and I think that if you like comedy, you should watch it.
