Summary: Good performances, but not enough
Review: I loved the performances on the DVD: the Doors, Bill Haley, and early Elvis, Ray Charles, James Brown, and Janis Joplin, but I was a little disappointed that it only included one Motown performance: Diana Ross and the Supremes and the Temptations. The Tempts were the best part of this video especially knowing the background to their appearance. No Marvin Gaye? No Four Tops? Well, David Ruffin sings the "(I Know) I'm Losing You" duet with Diana, but Diana gets most of the lead. The song sounded pretty watered down for her. Ruffin was the best part of the duet---such a dynamic performer! I was disappointed in the Mamas and the Papas' performance (very very disappointed). There definitely should have been more performances.

Summary: Good DVD
Review: This DVD contains almost an hour of great rockin' entertainment from Ed Sullivan. Featured are the Doors, the Beatles, Elvis and many more. Also this disc is narrated by one of the Mamas and the Papas. All songs are complete, most are uninterrupted. This is a great DVD for anyone who loved Ed's show.

Summary: 15 best performances of Ed Sullivan
Review: This DVD presents 15 performances (10 in color, 5 in black and white) selected from the Ed Sullivan Show aired at different times in 1950's and 60's. The performers are, in the order of appearance, Jackson 5(with 10 year old Michael!), Bill Haley and His Comets, Elvis Presley, Doors, Ray Charles, Jackie Wilson, James Brown, Roy Orbison, Beatles, Temptations and Supremes, Loving Spoonful, Mamas and Papas, CCR, Young Rascals, and Janis Joplin. Each performance is a gem; the DVD could very well be called "the 15 best performances of Ed Sullivan". The picture quality is excellent, and the sound clean and good. The commentary by Michelle Phillips of the Mamas and the Papas is concise and yet helpful.

So, why not 5 stars? There are only 15 songs, one each by the above 15 performers. Granted that this DVD is priced a little lower than others, the entire show is only 50 minutes. By the time it ended, I felt that I had seen only the first half of it.

Summary: Temptations/Supremes Diana/David duet
Review: Wow, this is a must to have, not only because it has The Beatles, The Doors, James Brown, Jackie Wilson, Bill Haley and the Comets, Janis Joplin and an innocent Jackson 5 (plus more) but it has The Temptations and Supremes on stage together. What really is the best is the lead singers of the Supremes, Diana Ross, and the lead singer of the Temptations, David Ruffin, doing a duet of each other's songs and David blows Diana off the stage. Great stuff.
