Summary: The greatest television series of the 90's
Review: NewsRadio represents the peak of comedic television reached in the 1990's. NewsRadio is the perfect example of workplace humor (without the actual work) that contains the full array of characters. I am eagerly awaiting the release of this wonderful series on DVD for it is no longer carried in my area on broadcast or cable. I also hope that the other seasons are released and I would look out for them if I were you.

Summary: Andy Rooney is the unfunny Andy Rooney
Review: People often compare News Radio to Seinfeld, and indeed both shows were completely unsentimental (unlike The Simpsons in its heyday). But whatever its intentions, Seinfeld effectively reveled in the shallow world of Clark Bars and Pez dispensers. This is part of the reason why people didn't get the last episode: they'd forgotten that the show's humor was supposed to come at the expense of the main characters, whose comeuppance finally arrived. Over the years, we came to identify ourselves with Jerry and his friends, thereby undercutting some of the show's edge.

News Radio, on the other hand, was unsparing. It made jokes at the expense of Andy Rooney, Bon Jovi, John Grisham and "Wichita Lineman" (twice!). This is why network executives and (many) TV watchers didn't appreciate the show. Could you even imagine The Today Show celebrating News Radio the way it celebrated Friends? Katie Couric would never understand why they were taking potshots at poor Glen Campbell.

I also love the set pieces. My favorite was Joe and Matthew's bet about the next song on the radio, and the ultimate reaction shot of Dave saying "God I love that song" (it was Wichita Lineman, of course). If I'm not mistaken, this scene was cut a bit when shown on syndication.

Summary: brilliant writing combined with superior acting equal NR
Review: Nine out of ten sitcoms fail to bring even a smile to my face. Everyone tells me that I'm a hard nut to crack, but I think what lacks in most shows today is either convincing acting or witty scripts (not just a joke cracked here and there). I could articulate about what made this show a perfect 5 stars all day, but when it comes right down to it I'd have to say that the show had a very rare and wonderful chemistry. You find yourself actually caring about the characters and looking forward to what happens next. NR is a dynamic sitcom that dosen't just walk the 'fishing for a laugh'-line. Instead it breaks out of the sterotype that sitcoms have become (as one viewer said earlier it combines situational and charactor humor/development to get its laughs-sit/charcom if u will) and sets a new standard for what TV comedy should become.
The early seasons are developing the charactors and the laughs are fewer and further between in comparison to the later seasons, but in comparison to 'friends' and all the other "great" sitcoms of the 90s this is by far the best (seinfeld is a close second)!

Summary: One of the best shows ever.
Review: While I haven't actually watched the DVD release yet, I have seen almost every show of this off the wall comedy several times. The chemistry of the cast is great, and the timing of the humor is paced just right. Phil Hartman's character is so funny that he could have led the cast and turned it into his own show. But he allows Dave Foley to lead the cast and each character is as important as the others. And because of this, when Phil Hartman died, the show didn't die with him. In came Jon Lovitz, who's contrast to Phil is very welcome and showed that there is no replacing the one and only Phil Hartman. It is a shame the show never build a following. Cancelled after five years, I discovered this gem of a show on Cable and found it really enjoyable. In an age where most TV sitcoms are stale, unfunny, and use the same jokes for every episode (example Friends, King of Queens, and That 70's Show), this great series is one for the ages, and one that is great to watch over and over. Don't miss it.

Summary: I Miss Newsradio
Review: So great, so wonderful, so witty... Will we ever get to see it? 2010 can't be the proper release date; why would we be able to preorder 6 years in advance? It doesn't make sense. I work at an Indigo store (GAH!!) and sometimes release dates (for books, anyway) are grossly misrepresented. For example, I came across a book yesterday that is apparently due to release in 2050, although it will be out much sooner than that, within the year in fact. Just wanted to give a little hope to the rest of the customers I've noticed complaining about the release date. Some outrageous release dates are just set when the publisher hasn't actually set one yet, and so a crazy date is posted to appease those fans who need a definite date. Anyway, I reeeeaaalllly hope this release is sooner rather than later, so I can revisit all of my favourite characters. Maura is wonderful as Abby on ER (now my favourite character since Greene passed away) but still not as great as she was as Lisa. Sometimes you can catch Abby acting a little Lisa-ish, but it isn't the same. And where else can we see Phil Hartman at his finest? And where exactly is Dave Foley these days? I can't make myself sit through Fear Factor just to get my Joe Rogan fix anymore. If anyone is listening, speed up the production! Even if you haven't all the commentaries, etc. We'll still buy it!

Summary: Little news on News Radio
Review: I wrote an e-mail to Sony Pictures (the owners of News Radio) expressing how much I love the show and want to get it as soon as it come out on DVD. The only thing I could get out of them is that it will be released next year (2005). . .

Summary: I hope the release date is only TEMPORARY.
Review: So recently we have seen the Friends and Seinfield episodes released on DVD. Both are funny in their own spectacular ways, however, Newsradio, a show I find much more hilarious than both those shows, is not due out until 2010! I have been a huge fan of Newsradio and I always freak out if I catch it on late night television now a days. I believe this DVD will be amazing, just with the episodes itself.

Summary: PLEASE! I really want the NewsRadio DVDs!!
Review: I hope that is true, what I read about them adding commentaries and behind-the-scenes stuff. I JUST LOVE all that!! Hopefully they won't have too many people at once trying to do the commentary, though. That's one of the places where they went wrong when they did the 'special edition' of the "Christmas Vacation" DVD.

Anyway, I can't wait until NewsRadio is finally released! One of the very best shows - ever. The writing is brilliant and, of course, so is the acting. Classic show! Love it!!!

Summary: PLEASE RELEASE THIS
Review: Why is this not released yet. Every other show, including a lot of lackluster ones, are on DVD, what is keeping one of the funniest shows from coming out?
Who ever is behind this needs to get it done - the loyal fans are speaking up. Make it happen, please.
