Summary: Much Greater than Five Stars
Review: I have seen alot of TV in my lifetime, but this show is one of top 3 1/2 hour shows ever made PERIOD. Seinfeld is only better than SWC because of more episodes. SWC show not only appeals to the viewer looking for sophisticated, intelligent humor (me), but also to the viewer looking for simple thoughtless humor we all love a little. The show is a perfect synergy of both types of comedy. I didn't notice this show when the seasons originally aired, from all the commercials, it looked pretty stupid. I caught one rerun episode at 2AM, now I'm one of the show's most diehard of fans. The show will hook you, and never let go. Run to the store and buy it now, it will change your life forever. Chuck Noblet, Stephen Colbert, is best part of the show in my opinion. His character alone makes the entire show. As Noblet would say this DVD is better than good, its gooder.

Summary: "Thank you Jesus, Daddy and the Spook!!"
Review: I must say that when I found out about this DVD, I started jumping up and down in excitement. I had been waiting for this day and thought it would never come. I had watched Strangers With Candy when it was on t.v., but I had not seen all of them. It was my favorite show, though.

I think that this DVD showcases the most intelligent show that has been broadcast for many years. The performances by Amy Sedaris are outright brilliant, not to mention Paul Dinello, Stephen Colbert, and Greg Hollimon.

This DVD is not for everyone, however. The dark sense of humor and twisted way of showing Jerri Blank's life may turn off some people. But I have watched this DVD numerous times now, and it never gets old. It always gives me many laughs, and I would suggest it to anyone who has a different sense of humor.

If wishes and buts were clusters of nuts, we'd all have a bowl of granola!

Summary: I'll be back in a shortly....
Review: 5 stars is not enough. These Episodes are extremely well done with a great attention to detail. You can watch these again and again picking up new jokes in the background props or catching new meanings within the dialog. Sure, it can be somewhat raunchy, but it is cleverly done. Invite your friends over to watch these. Overall, I'm not the kind of guy who laughes out loud- I'm more of a smirking kinda guy. These made me actually laugh. They are that funny.

Summary: Thank Goddess!!
Review: Without this series I would never have known how normal my life was. Bring this series back. It's political incorrectness at it's best. Let them eat cake.

Summary: They all want cake.
Review: I do not own this DVD but will be purchasing it based on the strength of Episode 4: Who Wants Cake? This episode is some of the best television you'll ever see, well written and seamlessly read, hilarious visuals and a feel-good ending that sets everything right. I currently have it on a six hour VHS that I used to record South Park one night and let run on until it was full. I can't wait to stop having to search that tape to find out Who Wants Cake! BUY IT!

Summary: After School Special On Laughing Gas
Review: As a kid, the networks self-anointed themselves with the title "beacons of morality." Silly, mellow-dramatic stories of drug abuse, drinking, racism and disabilities were inflicted on countless school kids.

Now comes "Strangers With Candy." A hilarious spoof on all of those corny, preachy after school specials. Even the opening theme song is straight out of those television tales of morality. What makes this series so funny are not only the writing but also the sight gags. Pay special attention to the writing on the chalkboard. Look quick and you'll see written "Custer verses Cortez: who would win?" as the daily classroom lesson.

It is unfortunate that Comedy Central cancelled the series in favor of more frat boy mook type humor. Instead of allowing a great series to develop even further, we now are treated to girls jumping on trampolines, beer humor and faux lesbians.

Thanks to someone willing to take a chance, we fans of the show now have the first season on DVD. This issue seems to be very popular (Amazon list) which will open the door for the remaining seasons!

Summary: One of the funniest shows ever!!!
Review: This has to be one of the funniest shows ever. This is one of those rare shows that will make you laugh from your gut. If you are easily offended, this show is not for you. But...if you love a good laugh and are not worried about being politically correct, this show is absolutely hilarious!!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: very funny
Review: This DVD is hysterical, as anyone who watched the show would expect. There are commentaries by the actors for a few of the episodes, but mostly this is a no-frills DVD of the first season of SWC. Highly recommended for SWC fans.
