Rating: Summary: Release more Laugh-In!! Review: I love this show. Yes, some of the material is dated, but there is no denying this was a television classic. Goldie Hawn and Lily Tomlin. Need I say more? I think that for 6 episodes it is a bit overpriced but for true fans, we'll buy it. I do think that the complete seasons should all be released. Especially the 1970-71, '71-72 & 72-23 seasons. The early seasons have already be rerun on Trio but you never get to see the later seasons and they were just as good. Especially Lily Tomlin. After her first season on the show she just kept adding great funny characters, one after the other. Please put more of this show on DVD. Thanks Rhino.

Rating: Summary: Release the entire series! Review: I loved this DVD and also the first one. These shows were classics. Please Rhino - release all of them as boxed sets!
Rating: Summary: Very disappointing marketing strategy Review: I saw an infomercial on TV out here in California that said you could order the full series of Laugh-in DVDs by subscription and they would send you two every two months. I have to agree with the previous reviewer, though - why this quirky marketing strategy? This was a great show that ran for a long time. If they offered the series for sale in regular music stores I am sure I would periodically blow some change on them, just like I am slowly collecting Monty Python and other series right now (as long as the DVDs were a decent deal and contained three or more episodes apiece). I bought the last "best-of" collection and I guess I'll buy this one (at least it's on sale) but it just seems to me like the show is a potential goldmine and it is being marketed stupidly. With so much material to choose from, why be so cheap? Laugh-in was a beloved part of my childhood, and one I desire to commemorate. Make with the shows, already!
Rating: Summary: A wider selection Review: OK, the first set gave you more early episodes which some people may prefer, but I am pleased that this set includes some of the later 1970/71 episodes which are great too! It's interesting to see the changing styles and I actually found the later shows were very good. The highlight of this set though has to be the episode with guest star Danny Kaye. He joins in with many of the sketches, complimenting the various characters - he is superb as usual.Great fun! Keep 'em coming Rhino!
Rating: Summary: They should have done a better job with this collection. Review: Once again, Rhino has put out another collection of Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In. However, this set is inferior to the first one for three reasons. First, the episode with Greer Garson is indistinguishable from the one in the first collection. Second, the listing of the episodes is different from the way they are presented on the DVDs. Finally, on the third DVD, they didn't have one of the regulars talk about his or her time on the show. This is the reason why I rated this collection so low, as it's always nice to hear the regulars' talking about their time on the show and there are still are a lot of them we haven't heard from.
Rating: Summary: Why not release the show by season? Review: Seasons 1 and 2 are easily the best, with Lily Tomlin easily being the best reason to watch season 3...
With a dual-layer disc, 4 episodes can be put onto one disc, with a handful of extras, and look very respectable (in the eyes of anyone who believed it when the mainstream media shoved DVD down our throats as having better quality.)
But 6 episodes on 3 single-layer discs, plus interviews, invariably leads to lower image quality. While other shows are worse, this packaging and contents only make me believe that we fans of this series are being fleeced; taken for a ride.
And the only series that had received even worse treatment was the original Star Trek series (at $20 per two-episode disc, Paramount really was taking big chances with its fan-base... The original Trek made back its money and more before Berman took over with the Next Generation and 3 dreary spinoffs... but that's another topic!) Of course, Paramount finally did the right thing and release the original Trek per-season, for only a moderately-inflated price. It's time Laugh-In fans get better treated as well.
Great show. But fans don't deserve this draconian treatment and fleecing.
Rating: Summary: Strike Two . . . Review: The second collection of episodes of Laugh-In, appears to be packaged in the same manner as Volume 1, which means that once more, the consumer is not receiving maximum value for their dollar A one-hour show, minus the commercials, has 45 to 50 minutes of programming. A DVD easily holds over 200 minutes of material. So in most recently released boxed sets for hour-long programs, you will routinely find DVD's containing four episodes. The three DVD Laugh-In set contains just six complete programs, along with some interview footage. That's two episodes per disc (approximately 100 minutes), plus the bonus material. Although the Laugh In discs contain much less than the maximum amount of material, the price of the set is relatively high. Rhino Video is certainly aware that the trend is to issue TV programs in boxed sets. Other studios issue their sets with all kinds of bonus materials. Rhino did a good job with The Monkees, choosing to issue the DVD sets by seasons, and including lots of extras. But in the case of Laugh-In, they continue to offer mediocre sets that short change fans. What are their real plans for this series? Do they intend to issue all of the episodes? Taking the "best of" approach, seems to indicate that they do not believe that interest in the series is great enough to justify issuing the program in complete season packages. Perhaps so, but there can be no denying that the "best of" sets could easily have much more content. If you like Laugh-In enough to pay the premium per episode cost, by all means please enjoy. However, realize that purchasing this set only encourages Rhino to continue this minimalist type of packaging. If they ever do issue the program by complete seasons, you may regret the decision to buy. If you are not getting a fair value, take a stand and keep saying "NO" to inferior product like this. If you must have this, try the used market.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing & Expensive Review: The selection of the 'best' seems very haphazard & some of the late '60s political references have lost their edge 35 years on. There's a lot of padding between sketches, Goldie Hawn writhing about in body paint. The worst thing of all is that there are just two episodes on each disc and the remaining space, about a third of the whole, is given over to one of the performers rambling on a lot about themselves and what fun it all was but nothing about the production and its history. Really poor value for the money.
