Summary: HBO brilliance
Review: HBO in the last few years has managed to become my favorite channel for series programming which is a good change of pace since all the movies they seem to play are junk or I already have them on DVD. Hitting a home run with Sopranos and Sex in the City, also not forgetting the up and comming Arli$$, Curb Your Enthusiasm enters the frey from a very original standpoint.

Larry David, the creater of the blockbuster series Seinfeld is the main character in Curb Your Enthusiasm playing himself. Though not really himself since nobody could possibly get themselves in as much hot water as the Larry David of this show! He's conservative yet at the same time a complete nut. At every turn he is always doing or saying something that seems to really offend someone around him or get himself in trouble with his wife or friends through something else he's done. I often find myself hiding behind my hands embarrased by the things that HE'S done, and I'm the kind of guy that'll answer the front door naked too!

An extremely witty and well written show, you tend not to forget that its a scripted program then get knocked back to reality when you realize that things this bad cant possibly happen to a real guy!

Summary: Hooray! Curb Your Enthusiasm on DVD at last!
Review: I can't wait to get this DVD set as this is one of my favourite comedy shows of all time. 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' was screened late at night on free-to-air Melbourne station Channel 9 for a while and has attained cult status here. 'Seinfeld' is hugely popular in Australia and it's no surprise that Larry David's own series has found an appreciative (albeit smaller, due to the time slot) audience here as well. It's going to be a blast watching these episodes at my leisure and showing them to friends and family who never caught these shows the first time around.

Bring on the rest of this hilarious series on DVD...and let's see other equally excellent series like the remaining seasons of 'The Larry Sanders Show' get released as well.

Summary: too funny
Review: it takes about 2 shows to understand the humour because it is all about the characters and personalities and the way they interact with each other instead of the usual obvious verbal jokes. its a keeper.

Summary: Excellent show
Review: This is such a funny funny programme. If you aren't already a fan, you soon will be. Larry David is amazing and the show is great. I just wish they would have released this earlier, but hopefully they'll get working on the second series collection real soon. I love this show.

Summary: Larry David Is The Man
Review: This show is great!!! Read the other reviews to find out what this show is all about.........there is no sense in just repeating. The only thing you need to know from me is that it is damn entertaining. Waiting for all the rest of the seasons to come out.

Summary: The reviews speak for themselves...
Review: CYE is the funniest show on tv right now. "Shocked N. Confused from Canada" review shows why there is a stereotype about Canadian intelligence...read the other 50 reviews giving the show 4 or 5 stars, this show will have you laughing the entire 30 minute episode everytime. Anyone who doesn't think so probably prefers comedy like Scary Movie or Super Troopers, anyone with a half-witted sense of humor will love this show. It's easy to see where Seinfed's sense of humor comes from, Larry David is amazing.

Summary: Understated
Review: This series, kicked off by the episodes included on the DVDs in this set, continues to be among the most amusing series in the ether. The humor is drier, more underplayed, and more sly that Seinfeld, created and co-produced for several years by Larry David, whose baby CYE is. It seems to me that reviewers here who write about falling on the floor laughing, crying, and wetting their pants laughing so hard, either are missing the point of the series or are reading something into the episodes that is not there. Events, if one can call them that, in each episode call for chuckles, responses of "Oh, yeah, I've been there and done that, just as stupid as Larry." Occasionally, full belly laughs are the requisite, but for the most part, the show elicits low-key amusement. Somehow, I imagine that Larry David, if he could look out from the TV, would be rather bemused at the sight of people howling with laughter and rolling around the floor in response to his humor. If you like the sort of humor that typified "Seinfeld," "Dream On," "Buffalo Bill," "The Larry Sanders Show," and such ilk, you will love these DVDs because CYE is at the very top of this genre.

Summary: Best Comedy Series on TV Today
Review: Curb Your Enthusiasm has all the makings of a classic comedy series. Larry David, writer and star of the show, also co-created the show 'Seinfeld' (with Jerry Seinfeld). David wrote for that series from 1990-96 and returned to write the series finale in 1998. David was Emmy-nominated seven times for his writing on "Seinfeld," and won in 1993 ("Outstanding Individual Achievement in Writing in a Comedy Series") for the now classic episode "The Contest."

He also shared an Emmy in 1993 for "Outstanding Comedy Series" (He has shared a nomination for this award six times.). In 1994 David shared a PGA Golden Laurel Award with Jerry Seinfeld for "Most Promising Producer in Television." The second season was nominated for an "Outstanding Comedy Series" Emmy.

To keep the narrative fresh and spontaneous, Curb Your Enthusiasm is shot without a script; the cast is given scene outlines and often improvise lines as they go. The result is a hysterically capricious show that's unlike anything else on TV. Each half-hour episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm features reality-style footage of David (playing himself) at home, at work and around town, as he gets into predicaments with fictional and real-life personalities.

Most of us can probably relate to most of the situations depicted on the show in one way or another. If you watch it enough, you'll probably find one of your own most embarrassing and humiliating moments represented on the show. It's like laughing at your self, but at someone else's expense. The show makes seemingly trivial details of one's day-to-day life (a trip to the movies, a phone call, a visit from some trick-or-treaters), and makes them precipitate a "Murphy's Law" chain of misfortune to side-splitting effect.

David's writing is once again, fantastic, and the humor is much like that of the Seinfeld show; so if you enjoyed Seinfeld and are craving fresh, new material of that ilk, get HBO and start watching the show. What you will find is that Larry David's style of comedy is as funny as it ever was. Candid, unsparing, and self-deprecating, each show is full of skits that probably reflect a comic exaggeration of David's real-life experiences; and they're hilarious!

Summary: Showing Enthusiasm
Review: I never heard of Larry David before. I watched the very first HBO episode accidentally, thought his wife Sheryl was totally cute, so I gave it watch. Afterward I could not wait for the next episode. This show is THEE most funniest show on TV today. I tell friends, (and enemies) about this show, the next day they are telling me about that crazy "bad luck" Larry. I love classic sitcoms, but I don't usually purchase TV-DVDs, CYE is the one dvd series I know I will be enjoying many times over. Turn your friends on to this show!
