Summary: Peter Pan
Review: I saw this movie on TV on Thanksgiving and I just loved it. Iknew i had to have the movie. If you are a Kathy Rigby fan you will like this movie. THe kids will love to see one of their favorite movie acted out with a live Captain Hook, Peter Pan, Wendy Darling, and Tinker Bell.

Summary: You shoulda seen it from backstage!
Review: I was lucky enough to work on the stage crew for this filming. I was there the night it was shot with an audience(a few days of shooting took place without one). The entire show is great and they create some really cool stage magic at times. The La Mirada Theater for the Performing Arts is a great smaller scale professional venue and the filming of Pan filled it to the brim.....hope you all enjoy the hard work of cast and crew!

Summary: Why Didn't I See This In Music Class?!
Review: I was taking an exam in chorus class and one of the X-tra credit questions was: What is your favourite musical? Why? Unfortunatly that question was crossed out by the teacher, anyway, if I were to give an answer to that question now, my answer would be PETER PAN (2000)! Why? Well, in my opinion, it has a good cast and crew (Cathy Rigby is perfect as Pan, the Darling children, Lost Boys and Indians are adorable, Smee and the pirate rogues are a true sack o' laughs and Captain Hook really steals the scenes!) and music so great, that I plan to memorise them and sing them with the actors when they start singing them. Also, the idea of Tinkerbelle was cute (even though she's just a ball of light).
Did I mention that the flying effects look as if the actors were really flying! I mean, the scenes where Peter flys in the Darling nursery and fights against Cap'n Hook are like totally awsome! And it's got plenty of funny and sad scenes too (great with the emotions)! My music teacher (Ms. Tolbert) showed my class some decent musicals during the school year (West Side Story, Okalhoma! etc.) but this one really takes it!! Boy is it a shame Tolbert didn't show the whole class this true work of pure literature!
I GIVE THIS MUSICAL A SLAMMIN' 5 OUTTA 5!

Summary: An amazing revival of a classic musical, with pros and cons
Review: I was very excited to receive this DVD from Amazon. After putting it into my DVD player I was greeted with a nice menu and features. The picture quality and sound on this DVD is superb. The set is far more advanced and impressive than the original Mary Martin version. The flying is more real and breathtaking also. Cathy Rigby soars over the stage beautifully, showing off talent in flips and turns through the air. As other reviewers have said before, there are some annoying differences if you are used to the orignal version. First of all, Cathy Rigby can not compare to Mary Martin. She is more masculine and can't carry a tune as well as her predessor. She seems to be more of a mean character in this version, pushing the lost boys around, well in this case they arn't really boys, and her voice isn't as playful as Mary's. I think Richard Cyril (or whoever played the original Hook) was somewhat better and more memorable. I like the added sequence of Marooner's Rock with neat mermaids and flowing water. I don't like how they used a much younger Mrs. Darling, she seems to be 25. Here, Smee is also a bit young for the character, he could easily pass for 20. As I said, the lost boys arn't really boys, but older guys, which is a disappointment. I would like to see the scene changes as if watching a live production, but they are not shown in this film. You can see the audience clapping along and credits come on the screen, telling of the name of the different scenes or rather where they take place. And sadly, Liza, (the nanny lady) never gets to go to Neverland as the original. Tiger Lily's dance is not as fun. But overall I would say this is a very good revival of a classic. I give it 5 stars for it is amazing in its own right, but compared to the original it falters a bit. Defintately pick this one up if you loved the original, or have never seen it. It is an incredible performance to enjoy with the family.

Summary: Magical
Review: I've recently taken a liking to theater, and this Peter Pan is something that has inspired me to do so even more. Everything about it was awesome. But what makes Peter Pan the most enjoyable, as it is for the many Peter Pan takes, is the music. Such songs as Ugg-A-Wugg, I've Gotta Crow, and I Won't Grow Up just stick with you. And Cathy Rigby displayed Peter Pan wonderfully, along with the rest of the cast. I can't leave out the choreography, it's awesome! Too bad the show was retired, it would be *magical* to see it in person.

Summary: The Best Pan You'll Ever See!
Review: Many of you have seen Mary Martin's version of the play. That seemed like nothing after I saw Cathy Rigby's live. This dvd version has even more than the live version. It even has a scene at the mermaid lagoon which only happened in the Disney cartoon. Get this dvd today. You won't regret it.

Summary: skip the Disney version!
Review: My 3 year old daughter has seen the Disney version of Peter Pan and reacted like she does to most cartoons- with that blank comatose stare. This video has her up dancing with Tiger Lily, singing with Wendy and pretending to fly. She acts out scenes from this movie all day, every day, with various family members and teddy bears taking on roles. This video has sparked so much imaginative play in our house and I don't cringe when she asks for it- what more could you ask? Highly recommended.

Summary: The live Theatre version is great!
Review: My almost 4 year old loves Peter Pan. I have to rate this theatre version even better than the 'cartoon' version. If you buy only 1 Peter Pan-- Get this one!

Review: Once you (and your children) see this version you will laugh at the disney and other versions. This is EXACTLY as the actual play, we saw this exact Cast live in Memphis. It brought back great memories and Cathy Rigby ROCKS...You've not seen Peter Pan fly until you see this DVD!
My 4 yr old son LOVES this DVD (minus of course the few pirate and fight scenes we censor).
Get it...you won't regret it!
