Summary: Allosaurus: A Waste of Time and Money
Review: These folks should be ashamed of themselves. After producing the worthwhile and wonderful "Walking With Dinosaurs", they came out with this which is little more than screensavers, video clips, wallpaper and similar stuff. IMHO, it seems little more than an excuse to take people's money. And it includes an insert shilling all sorts of other dino stuff, such as puzzles and books...In addition, I found it annoying that the installation was unable to find existing DirectX and Windows Media Player programs and insisted on installing its own version. Skip this and buy "Walking With Dinosaurs" instead.

Summary: The "Seventh" episode of Walking with Dinosaurs
Review: This dramatic narrative follows the life of actual Allosaurus, Big Al, from an egg to the corpse of a fierce hunter. Even though the filming skips about Al's life, the flow of the production is hardly damaged. The research for the film is impressive; even the Allosaurus fight has some evidence from Al's fossils. Superb computer graphics and animatronics create the believable dinosaurs. There is suspense, action and tradgedy,as well as humor and fun woven into the story. One negative comment is with the location of the filming. It is filmed in Utah and Arizona, which do not look quite accurate, but the extensive research and realistic dinosaurs balance it out. This good short film lets the viewer experience how a dinosaur may have lived.

Summary: An Intrigiung Story
Review: This DVD is great. The special affects are wonderful. It's kind of neat to think that only a spanse of time, however vast, divides our world from Al and his world (hopefully, things will stay that way).

Summary: A Sequel Supreme
Review: This equally excellent sequel is a spinoff of sorts of episode 2 "Time of the Titans" of the original Walking with Dinosaurs.

Here, the lens narrows and focuses on an Allosaurus, "Big Al", based on the possible life of a particularly revealing specimen in Wyoming (if you're really a continuity freak, you can fancy that Al was one of the Allosaurs terrorizing the Diplodocus herd in the original, but that's not really necessary). In true WWD style Al survives childhood , grows up, and meets his end after an eventful life. Blending fact and fiction, the show speculates how Al accumulated his spectacular number of injuries - one of which was fatal. The equally long Making Of episode that follows explains how scientists zeroed in on which wound was fatal - and why.

There are several outstanding scenes, including one where we see, through Al's eyes, the famous Cleveland-LLoyd Quarry - an Allosaur deathtrap which was to them what La Brea would later be to sabretooth tigers - and a frightening scene in which a huge female attacks Al as he attempts to mate for the first time. But the absolute highlight is an exciting Apatosaur hunt where we see how the Allosaurs may have taken giant sauropods down. Although seemingly suicidal, the predators' odds may have been evened by pack hunting and singling out of sick, young or elderly prey.

...At this price, "Allosaurus" is a blatant steal. Snatch it up, Dino fans. With the gang's most recent offering "Walking with Prehistoric Beasts", I am hoping that they'll soon continue with more Dinos. Oh, for a Mongolia episode starring the famous dueling Velociraptor and Protoceratops and co-starring Oviraptors Big Mama, Romeo and Juliet of "Dinosaurs of the Flaming Cliffs" and "Dinosaur Hunters" fame!

Summary: Good Big All
Review: This is a very good vedio!but it would be better if they showed the life of Big All as a juvenile.

Summary: Walking With Dinosaurs ALLOSAURUS
Review: WALKING WITH DINOSAURS held me so hard that I was about to pop-but when I found out that there would be a 'sequel', I went crazy. ALLOSAURUS shows that you can show that being a predator doesn't mean that you'll kill for fun-it's just what you do.

Summary: Good enough to stop sightseeing
Review: We came across this on the BBC while traveling in Scotland, and my kids (3&7) were enthralled. We could not get them moving even with the coaxing of castle tours and the Loch Ness Monster, and to be honest, my wife and I enjoyed it enough to sit with them.
It tells a good story with great animation and teachs while being honestly entertaining. It is one of those that finds that perfect balance. When offered this DVD or pokemon, my kids chose this! I rec. it to anyone with children at all interested in Dinasaurs.

Do not buy it for any DVD extras, that is not the point. It is just a great show. The other place to find it is in the Natural History Museum in London, and a lot of the money made from those items "shilled" go to continue this kind of BBC programing and the phenominal work done at the museum.

To sum it up---I gave my children the choice of this or Pokemon and they took this. I rec. it to anyone with children who like dinosaurs.

Summary: Better than the usual BBC
Review: Well,I have to say that I have seen this one,and it was better than the usual "Walking with Dinosaurs". This time, they have a real storyline, although it`s just a documentary film. And the dinosaurs seems a lot more full of life, although their look isn`t different. It`s a pity these series were not included in the book.
I this 30-minute special,we follow the allosaurus named Al from beeing an egg to his death. In fact, this could truly have been the life of an allosaur. But there are still a few things which I don`t understand (and it has happend TOO many times in "Walking with Dinosaurs"): why does he always start arguing with a female of his own kind? Why didn`t they let him fight another male to get the female instead? That would have been a little more realistic (and a more usual thing to happen in the dinosaur world as well).
Well,I know the filmmakers weren`t made out of cash, but I think this documentary could have been a little longer - 30 minutes was too short. It should have been about an hour. Then we would probably have had more time too learn about Al`s dangerous and wondrous world, and the fantastic creatures living there.
Still,I think this was a very nice addition to BBC`s most expensive project so far,and it is recommended watching both for dino-loving kids as well as for adults and anyone interested in dinosaurs & computer animations.
