Summary: Stockard Channing is amazing
Review: I would have Stockard Channing be my psych anytime. Her portryal is brilliant as always and she has won me over as a fan (besides she is great in the West Wing)

Allison Janney, Kate Capshaw and Camryn Mannihime are very convincing and this is definately a movie I am keeping for my collection.

It kept me glued to the couch the whole time and I will just pray there will be sequals to it.

movie though it seemed RUSHED to production it did show that
good acting and director can keep you watching just because you
find your self needing to see how everything works out and not
just because in Hollywood all movies work out. Most wonder film

Summary: Lesbian Content was Good, but the Rest Was Even Better!!
Review: I'll be the first to admit that I was unsure if I would be able to sit still long enough to watch this entire movie, but once I got into it, I couldn't turn it off. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the stories and could relate to each of them.

My girlfriend and I watched it at the urging of another of our friends. She liked the whole thing, but recommended the first story, which deals with a new lesbian relationship. Movies about lesbians are traditionally pretty cheesey, so if we stumble onto something good, we tell all of our friends in about 2 seconds. That's what got us to watch it in the first place.

Turns out that that first story WAS very well done, and accurately portrayed the insecurity many of us feel in our first lesbian relationships, but the rest of the movie was good enough to almost overshadow the tasteful and sexy scenes between Kate Capshaw and Elle McPherson. Because I have sisters, I totally related to the second story. Because I have been cheated on, I liked and understood the third story and it's ending. The fourth story was just a shocker and had such a "hoo-rah" ending that I liked it, despite the improbability of it actually happening.

This is good stuff. If someone recommends it for the lesbian sex alone, watch further, because the whole thing was compelling and relatable. It's "If These Walls - I & II" with a twist.

Five stars!
P.s. I am searching for the artist who sang the "lonely painter" song during the first story. (...)

Summary: Elle is supposed to look uncomfortable...
Review: In a word - OUTSTANDING. However, I do disagree with other reviewers comments regarding Elle MacPherson. "Lauren" is the type of person that can't be comfortable in her own let alone someone who has the ability to follow her bliss. I think Elle played the charachter beautifully - I totally felt her fear and anxiety. Even though she was attracted to Kasey, acting on it went against everything her parents and society taught her. The fact that she would have the affair in the first place is pretty incredible. By the way, who knew Kate could be so hot?

Three sisters was just hilarious. Any woman who has a sister must see this.

I enjoyed each story very much. Over all I believe this DVD is a must for any collection.

Summary: A beautiful portrayal of women's lives
Review: In the tradition of films such as How to Make an American Quilt and Things You Can Tell Just By Looking At Her, A Girl Thing is a beautifully exquisite exploration of the complex nature of women's lives. This film first appealed to me because of its incredible ensemble cast, however the true strength of the film lies in Director Lee Rose's flawless ability to weave each individual woman's story together into a seamless work of art. There is no finite ending and beginning to each woman's individual story, but rather the transition periods leave the audience wondering whether the character ever comes to terms with her control issues, makes up with her family, or leaves her cheating husband. A tastefully done film with a feminist sensibility, I highly recommend A Girl Thing!

Summary: Tasteful sex scene. Elle & Peta back to acting school !
Review: Kate Capshaw is HOT! HOT! HOT! and convincing as a bi-sexual. Steamy lesbian sex but tastefully done with a superb score by Joni Mitchell. The only flaw with the first story is that if Elle MacPherson is so uncomfortable playing someone involved in a lesbian relationship, she should consider not undertaking similar projects in the future.

The second story about the three sisters is both hilarious and sweet. It reminds us all of the love that exists amongst siblings despite of nasty things we might have dished out to one other when we were young and silly.

Not much to say about the third adultery story except Lynn Whitfield and Linda Hamilton both have a long way to go before they could possibly hope to attain Mia Farrow's calibre of acting.

I loved the dry humour of the coffee house owner, and especially her courage, in the fourth story. Stockard Channing is, as always, a brilliant actress and acts as the conscience in the movie.

Overall, this movie is a "MUST SEE" chick-flick. However, I would strongly recommend that both Elle MacPherson and Peta Wilson take up acting lessons or go back to concentrating on their modelling careers!!

Summary: A Girl Thing - Better than I expected
Review: My favorite segments were the first two pieces, the one on the lesbian relationship and the other about the three sisters. I loved Kate Capshaw and found Elle MacPherson believable as a very uptight proper lawyer who lets public opinion ruin a heartfelt first love affair with another woman. I have seen Elle play a completely different, sexually loose character in Sirens. Because of this, I thought her uptightness was acting and not a reflection on how she feels about lesbian relationships. I watched the sex scene several times and what I saw emerge was that Elle had captured the tenderness between women in bed. At first, she is so hesitant, and then grows bolder and bolder with Kate Capshaw and then gives herself over to her completely, where she becomes "too dependent" and then withdraws from the relationship for 2 reasons. One is that the outside world does not welcome lesbian relationships, the other is that she has allowed herself to become so close to another, her fear of rejection takes over. The lesbian sex scene did not do justice to what could have been. I would have loved to have seen a sex scene where both women could have been directed to do what women do to each other to achieve orgasm rather than the motions that simulate sex between a man and a woman. At first I loved Kate Capshaw and then, once I let go of the fact that Elle has made her money mainly appealing to male sexual desires, I could see that she understands the tenderness between women.

Review: Oh my gosh. The first of the four stories is incredibly hot. Elle MacPherson and Kate Capshaw (Steven Spielberg's wife) have incredible chemistry. Worth the money just for their love scene.

And Camryn Manheim in the final story is remarkable. She is so talented in this movie.
