Summary: Curse you FOX! If only another network picked em up....
Review: This is my favourite American animated serial since the glory days of The Simpsons. Witty, and completely unorthodox material abound in each gem of an episode. If you have a pulse and a mildly unconventional sense of humour then you will also become as much a fan as I am.
Seth! Go shop this around! Your loyal cult followers will support you!

Summary: Funniest show ever!!!
Review: This is my favorite show ever and I was very upset when fox cancelled it. Fox is the reason the shows ratings went down because no one could find it. I would always go to see it and it would be on a different timeslot.I really don't think it is right to compare family guy to the simpsons. Yes, they are both about families but no one compares every live-action sitcom about families. And although the simpsons is a classic, and i love it, i have never laughed harder at any other show than at family guy. The show is written brilliantly and few comedies have been written on the same level as this show. It is a must buy, I've never talked to anyone who hasn't like the show and that's including my mother and grandmother. The show definately steps over the politcially correct liine, but the way they do it is hilarious. Almost every line in this show has it's own punch line, and I recommend this dvd set for anyone and the next one also, which I have pre-ordered. Every episode on both dvds is a classic in its own right. Buy the dvd sets and support Seth MacFarlane's comical genius.

Summary: Genius
Review: This is a show for people who enjoy pop culture. It will not be for everyone, as some people will not get the jokes. Some of the reviews on here state that there are only 2 episodes per disc, this is wrong. There are 7 episodes a disc. Also, some reviews complain about the missing Osama bin Laden joke, this was taken out by Seth because he was supposed to have been on one of the planes on 9/11. It is a complete injustice that this show was cancelled TWICE! Fox just didnt realize what they had, as shown in the great DVD sales and it beating out Leno and Letterman in ratings since being put on Adult Swim.

Summary: Separate but sometimes equal
Review: Which is better? The Simpsons or Family Guy? WHO CARES?! They both have their strengths and weaknesses just like any other series. I don't see why everyone compares the 2 shows...sure, Peter isn't very bright. sure, they have the same amount of children as Homer and Marge, both animated, both appeared on Fox...that's about as far as it goes. With The Simpsons, we're treated every week to the family's adventures...it has been kept alive all these years with clever references and great dialogue. With Family Guy, we WERE treated every week to one joke, the funny flashback, then another funny flashback. Sadly, it was a one joke show...but, amazingly, IT WORKED! I love both of these shows for different reasons. I love the Simpsons for its smart writing and A+ references and I love Family Guy for the times I want to give my brain a rest and just enjoy a stupid laugh with no thought involved.
I loved this DVD set, it sits on the shelf next to The Simpsons in perfect harmony...get over it people, they're just TV shows....enjoy them both, just stay away from King Of The Hill !!!

Summary: one funny show
Review: This is probably one of the the funniest shows to emerge out of the nineties. I never remembered laughing so hard at the Simpsons. Don't get me wrong, I love Homer and the gang, but never did I roll across the floor with such laughter as when I saw Peter trying to breast-feed Stewie. It angered me when they cancelled it, but yet the Simpson's continues to live way past it's prime, rarely churning out a decent chuckle nowadays. This show true comic genius. To the two that hated this show, I can only guess that you must have been doing some serious [drugs] when you watched it, because this stuff is classic.

Summary: Great to have this come out, wish production was better
Review: I really enjoyed this series on Fox & am glad that they have released the DVDs. The success of the DVD sales might help get a direct-to-DVD movie, which would be fantastic. Too bad multiple airing times screwed a series with so much potential! Those who debate whether this is better or worse than Futurama, The Simpsons, King of the Hill, etc. are really misguided. Each show has strengths & one can be a fan of more than one.

The DVDs are subpar. Commentary is only on two episodes per disc & leaves much to be desired--little information and not very funny & the commentators are often just silently watching the episode. The promos and behind the scenes were an interesting addition, but not essential.

Region 1 lacks "when you wish upon a weinstein--" a third season unaired ep that was included on Region 2 discs. Perhaps Vol. 3 will include this. This also censors a couple jokes--the JFK pez dispenser is cut (but appears on Region 2). Osama bin Laden showtunes joke and "sieg heil" cries in a Stewie fantasy sequence are censored from both this and the Region 2 discs.

Had hoped for uncensored discs that even contained scenes which were cut for original broadcast.

Review: Now, you see, I find it very amusing that people like Homer more than they like Peter because Homer is a lot more stupid.

And of course this show is going to be compared to the Simpsons because, DUH, both shows are about families, two kids and a baby. Does it get any more obvious than that? And another thing, if these people like Simpsons so much why aren't they reviewing something they love as opposed to something they hate?

Haters. :)

Summary: FUNNIER THAN THE SIMPSONS!!!!!?????????PLEASE
Review: How any one can come on here and knock "The Simpsons" is down right disrespectful, to a classic. Where family guy fails the simpsons succeed. This show was funny at times, but not funnier than the simpsons, homer is considered a friggin' icon, and people are gonna come on here and compare Peter to him. unlike Peter i actually care about Homer. I am glad they took this trashy show off the air, just a simpsons knockoff, and fails. The simpsons, made parody's that were actually funny, and paid tribute to classic shows, movies, and music, and made them funny. And its viwers stay loyal to the show.

Summary: NOT Better Than The Simpsons!
Review: "The Simpsons" is classic! Peter is funny and very stupid, but not stupider and funnier than Homer. I will give this show its props it did push the envelope when it came to issues, but "The Simpsons" debuted in the 80's very different from now. Homer is an icon, i don't see how any one can come on here and say Peter was better than Homer, the best cartoon character created. The DVD set is a good collection and if your a fan of the simpsons you'll like this show, one thing that turned my off from this show is that annoying baby.
