Summary: MOB FAMILYS OF THE 90S
Review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

Summary: NO SUBTITLES !!!
Review: Many "cops and robbers" TV/Movies are in what amounts to a foreign language: I'll call it Mobspeak. Examples on TV include "NYPD Blue and "The Sopranos". English subtitles (with parenthetical explanations when needed) would go a long way to fix the difficulties produced. I have seen some scenes where I felt that I was the only Anglophone who could understand the jargon. And that's because I was born and raised in Manhattan, the motherland of all mobspeak. Watching shows in mobspeak would provide immeasurably greater entertainment if English subtitles would be added. That, after all, is one of the great selling points of the DVD format in the first place.

Summary: Todays updated All in the Family
Review: There is little quesion that you will find most episodes of the first season of the Sopranos entertaining. It all stems from a mob guys need to see a shrink for panic attacks but the key is the likeability of the characters. These are real people, some you just wouldn't mind spending some time with despite their violent mob implications. David Chase also incorporates enough characters so the unexpected murder can take place anytime, unlike most television shows where you know who will absolutely survive the closing credits. Tony Soprano who is one of each episodes likely survivors has the ability to enthrall you with the mob side of his life as many relate to his family side instead. James Gandolfini is perfect for the job and wife Carmella (Edie Falco) is excellent. The main difference between All in the Family in it's day and the Sopranos is that racial insults are shared by uncle Junior and mom Livia. Tony is also set in his ways. There are many laughs with no laugh track. Please be aware of the violence which in this case may not be as shocking as it's usually what keeps the interest of fans. One could argue that this is the type of T.V. people really want to see especially with the reported success by HBO. At production costs at 2 million per episode and only on average 15 episodes per year it will be interesting to see if the networks can even come close, if not see these videos they're not to be missed.

Summary: This is your chance to own a part of history..............
Review: This is the start of the best series ever. Its the best out of all three seasons and you will have an urge to watch this season ten times. The acting is great and you will never forgot the characters. A few episodes may not be the best, but there are a few episodes that will make this entire package worth the price. Plus the DVD quality seemed pretty decent.

Summary: EXCELLENT ALL AROUND
Review: growing up in Jersey and living in a "mafia" neighborhood I can only say that it is all TRUE what is depicted in the movie and if others dissagree then sorry but it is all true, only the names have been changed. This is how it was in the 1960-pres and still is...you never know who your neighbors really are unless you really know them. Great show, very factual in language, behavior, lifestyle, etc....what can I say....only the gory details have been left out........cant wait until next season starts up on HBO.......Chris

Summary: Intelligent, Gripping, Extremely Well Done
Review: I heard all the hype and finally gave in largely based on how much we enjoyed the Sex in the City first season set. What an awesome surprise to stumble on something so good. This is such an intelligent show. I am still amazed at how they set up the "bad guy" as the main character. I find myself not only rooting for him but liking him despite all his faults and terrible deeds. I was very sad after playing the last episode in this set because it meant there were no more for me to watch. I can only hope they release the second season soon.

What you should do: Walk, run, or crawl to buy, rent, or borrow season one of the Sopranos. Beware for those with kids, the language is rough because this is an adult show.

Summary: For the SOPRANO Fan!
Review: I bought the box set because I missed a few episodes in the beginning of the first season. I am glad I did. Now I know how the "family" came about. I love the show. 4 discs included, 13 episodes plus an interview with the creator, 2 behind the scenes featurettes, commentary and more. Each episode has "Previously On" and "Coming Attractions". A perfect gift for the Soprano Fan in your life if not for yourself. I can't wait until Season 2 is released on DVD. Worth the money!

Summary: Christmas DVD
Review: I received the first season of the Sopranos as a christmas gift and was immediately hooked. Until then, I had never watched a full episode of the Sopranos. I sat down on Christmas afternoon with the intention of watching episode one. I ended up viewing seven episodes that day. We are on Dish Network and usually do not have the premium channels such as HBO. But when the third season of Sopranos kicked off, I called Dish and had HBO turned on. It's a great show and the DVD provided an excellent way for me to get into the show. Now I need the second season to be relaesed so I can view it.
