Summary: Cardcaptors is awesome!
Review: (I'm actually 16) I love Cardcaptors. It has great characters and artwork. I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes animation from Japan (animé). But, just so you know, Nelvana has completely messed up the order of episodes. So the first episode in North America is actually the eighth episode (in Japan), which is why some parts of the show may seem confusing. It wasn't until the twenty-first or twenty second episode in Canada that they finally showed the REAL first show. Amazon made a mistake in writing their review. They said that Sakura and Li get the Shadow Card in the first episode and they were confused by the point of it being there. Sakura and Li actually get the Thunder Card in the first episode and Sakura used the Shadow Card to get the Thunder Card. This is an awesome show. Many, many kids and even teens love it. You can't go by the opinions of people who have seen the original show before it was dubbed, because there are so many differences between the original and the dub, that you almost have to look at it as a whole different show. By the way, someone said Li's voice sounds like a kid--well, no little kid sounds like THAT! He's already had his voice change. (The point in having a person with their voice change already to do Li's voice is to help show how serious and beyond his years Li is.) I also don't think the other voices are bad at all.

Summary: I would have given it zero stars...
Review: First of all, if you actually wanted to see a show with no plot whatsoever, then watch it on TV. But I have to warn you... this is the absolute worst dub ever! It's even worse than the Sailor Moon dub... A dub is supposed to be a show translated, not an entirely new show. I know people are probably sick of hearing Cardcaptor Sakura fans rant about Nelvana, but unless you have seen the original version and can honestly say you like the dub better then you cannot talk about us being too sensitive. It's Americans that are too sensitive, they can't handle gays, love (sad but true), close friends (Tomoyo and Sakura, but who doesn't love their friends?), and any scenes that are not full of pokemon-like action. Cardcaptor Sakura is a cute, touching story that can be enjoyed by kids as well as adults. It has a wonderful soundtrack that was of course replaced with techno-ish songs that are extremely boring. The opening theme makes the American Digimon theme look great. Nelvana is skipping episodes, cutting out scenes (even ones that aren't inappropriate- once they cut out a scene of clouds), changing names, changing personalities, giving characters horrible bratty voices that sound like they're sixteen, and gosh knows what else... What I don't understand is how they can say Chiharu and Yamazaki are cousins when they are suppose to be going out, yet they put down that Mei-ling and Syaoran are dating (BTW they're really suppose to be cousins that are engaged). I've heard people say kids get freaked out by all these things in CCS that are acceptable in Japan. Well those of you who feel that way don't have to watch it then! I'm sure people really get freaked out when there are shows like The Simpsons. Kids may get freaked by gays but would they get freaked by Japan!? Oh my gosh! Kids might actually learn some culture! Nelvana made sure kids didn't. Tomoeda has now become Reedington and any Japanese text has been snipped away. Nelvana claims to have changed the story because boys would feel isolated watching a show featuring Sakura. I know many boys who like CCS, and even if boys do feel isolated then don't watch! Go and watch Dragon Ball! Isn't it interesting how boys get shows meant for boys but girls don't? And Nelvana thinks shoujo anime is sexist... Go ahead and watch Cardcaptors, it's your loss. But don't say it's a waste of money to buy the subbed CCS, Cardcaptors is an absolute waste even if it wasn't on TV. It has no value. And for the record Clow rhymes with glow, not cow, Sakura is not pronounced SaKOOra, and "Li" is Syaoran's last name. (I know my rant seems long but that's only a little bit of my complaints) ~*KiNoMoTo 4eVeR*~

Summary: Not Worth It
Review: Skipped the first 7 episodes, bad dubbing, 10 minutes edited out of the original episode, doesn't even have the English version of the Kero-chan ni Omakese (Kero's Corner) as broadcasted here in Canada. Why waste your money on this load of crap when you can get the UNCUT subtitled version by adding a few dollars more?

Summary: don't buy it
Review: I have seen the american Cardcaptors and the original japanese subtitled Cardcaptor Sakura. I have to say that the subtitled original version is better because the story is better and it's much more cuter. Also, there are love stories with the original plot that gets parents to enjoy the movie more. Nalvana doesn't want anyone to know about the original version. So to have the whole story of Cardcaptor Sakura, buy the original subtitled dvd from pioneer. You will know the truth of Cardcaptors.

Summary: It's good, but you might as well tape it off TV
Review: I'm an anime purist. I get annoyed at the tiniest detail changed in a dub. But I never let that stop me from enjoying a show if it's good in its own right - and Cardcaptors is. The dub may be inaccurate and hacked up, but it has good acting (IMHO) and it's still worth watching.

So why only 1 star? Because anyone who actually spends money buying this DVD must have a few screws loose. Tape it off TV, and buy the uncut subtitled Cardcaptor Sakura discs instead. If you're happy with reading subtitles (which shouldn't cause problems for anyone aged about 11 or older), I can guarantee you'll like it better.

Oh, and just to clear one thing up: Every episode of the first series *has* been dubbed, just not shown on TV. The episodes are being shown in the correct order here in the UK (today was episode 10, with the Flower Card), and the skipped ones will be released on DVD eventually. But they're still inaccurate, and they'll be shown on TV first, so again, just tape them and buy CCS on DVD.

Summary: Cardcaptors A Mystic Adventure
Review: Cardcaptors is the story of a young girl named Sakura Avalon and her quest to capture the mystic Clow Cards. She accidentally released the cards when she opened the Mystic Clow book. This is a great adventure for younger children.

Summary: I used to like CC, but I found out the truth
Review: Let me tell you one thing parents. Do not buy this thing for your little children. You should buy them the Japanese version. Here are my reasons: First the episodes start with #8 because KIDS WB wanted to have Sakura Kinomoto (Sukoora Avalon) and Syaoran Li (Li Showron) together. The whole series jumps right through, and kids become confused and asking questions like why is that card captured, and what happened I haven't seen that card before. It all goes to show that the series is messed up, no matter what other people say, because they haven't seen the original. Another matter is the name changes, so what, kids can pronounce Japanese names, heck i'm not Japanese and i'm 9 and can pronounce their names. ex. Sakura Kinomoto was changed to Sukoora Avalon, and Syaoran Li, was switched to Li Showron. Believe me the voices are different, the cute teddy bear guardian now sounds like a Taxi driver, and Sukoora sounds like a snobbish 19 year old. The original version is so much better and even though it says 13+, that is not the case at all. It should more like be Y7. Enjoy the original Cardcaptor Sakura, instead of the dub. And to you dub fans, I don't complain to Nelvana, the worst dubbing co. in the United States, ok.

Thank you Parents/Children/Guardians

Summary: Good, but it could be better!
Review: When I frist saw Cardcaptors in Kids WB over the summer, I thought that it was one of the best shows on earth. However, In early January this year I purched the frist two volumes of Cardcaptors and, for the heck of it, the (subbed) frist two volumes of Cardcaptor Sakura (avaiable on Amazon.com). I watched the Cardcaptors volumes frist with my four year old brother, and we were both estatic. However, when I watched Cardcaptor Sakura two nights later I was suprised by the amount of depth in the characters of that series, and the lack of plot holes. Yes it's true that Cardcaptor Sakura has been buchered, and that the American version could be a lot better, but the american version is good. So my sugestion is that if you've already seen Cardcaptor Sakura, don't buy this edition, however if you've never seen Cardcaptor Sakura, and don't plan to ever see it(or if your younger that 13), then buy this one. As long as you don't see the Japanese version this one will seem fine.

Summary: Guess what : I don't have unlimited access to CCS!!!
Review: This is mainly to Cardcaptor Sakura fans: will you be quiet? Sure, those idiots at Nelvana ruined their chance to have a great show stand out from the usual nonsense they make. Sure, the voice actors sound like they're doing this halfheartedly. Sure, the episodes are all messed up in order and reproduced in a completely inane plot. And sure, they edited out stuff that you seem to think is harmless. About that last one: Saoyran or whatever the heck his name is in CCS having a crush on...uh...Sakura's college-aged brother? Guess what? That stuff creeps out American kids! Maybe the standards are different and Japan kids get taught weird stuff at an early age, but this is America. I agree with you mostly: Nelvana completely botched it. All of it. Apparently they believe it's wrong to produce a show that introduces an actual plot, an actual storyline, and dialogue that....ohhhhhhh!......doesn't insult the intelligence of people over five years old!!! But despite the freak changes made on this, Li has not been made into the star! I mean, that is obvious! Do you see him having heartfelt conversations with Kero or capturing all the cards? As for Madison (Tomoyo) who acts like a complete ditz....ugh. She's like, out of Sweet Valley books or something. But this may astonish you: some people cannot spend their days buying Anime from Japan at the crushing prices it's displayed at (yes, even here)! And others are not fanatics of Anime! Nelvana changed it because boys might actually like shows too and because of the stuff that weirds out a lot of people and seems pointless. If you don't have the money, just tape the show on WB in all it's shredded glory. (If you have a VCR you will notice there is a little button there that says "REC". That means record! If you encounter further mechanical difficulties, consult a psychiatrist. Thank you. Please stop butchering this more than it already has been. Leave us to our mutilated copies; thank you, and have a nice day trying to get off the couch.
