Summary: the 70's Series that started it all (the kung fu craze)
Review: Although the previous review below may be correct in the fact that the Kung Fu television series was originally meant for Bruce Lee, it was David Carradine that won the part and made the show the 70's classic that it is (nobody even knew what "kung fu" was). The Green Hornet (w/Bruce Lee) TV series was not as successful in the US as the Kung Fu series was. I was a big Kung Fu fan as a child and I'm grateful they've packaged the first two seasons into DVDs. (Admittingly, the third and fourth seasons are probably not worthy of DVD conversion). The Kung Fu TV series (although not as "snappy" as a Bruce Lee flick) have a nostalgic place in my heart and I credit the show as my initial inspiration to pursue Martial Arts. It was soon AFTER the debut of this show in the early 70's the demand for Asian martial art movies exploded in the USA including those made by the legendary Bruce Lee. Successful martial art stars in the USA owe a lot to this David Carradine television series.

Summary: I'm inspired to do a kung fu website
Review: As the title of this says, I am inspired to create a Kung Fu website dedicated to the show (I've already started the design). There are some available, but none cover it from the perspective I have. There are many episodes where Caine shows his displeasure of eating meat, and in the first season he even converted two different characters to being vegetarian. And in the third season, Caine finally rides a horse in the very final episode, but only after he apologises to it. Thirty years later, the show still holds up and does not look dated.

Review: David Carradine is the man, not much more can be said. True, Kung Fu was Bruce Lee's idea, but Carradine was the better man for it. I've seen all of Lee's stuff, and I've Seen all of Carradine's stuff, and despite the ramblings of some tasteless asians (see reviews above), it was Carradine that made Kung Fu the cultural phenomenon it was. There was a reason Green Hornet bombed and Kung Fu soared; While Bruce Lee was good in the niche of Martial Arts acting, he would have been unable to imbue Kwai Chang Cain with the dramatic flair that Carradine did.

Review: I loved the movie and the series. I now have both seasons and will watch them again and again. Now about the bigotry remark, "tradeand5" should not be allowed to write reviews of any kind, his/her comments should be eliminated, it was admitted the show was never even seen by him/her. Booo Hisss to you "tradeand5", period, fool.

Summary: Still A Great Show, Even After 30 Years
Review: I remember watching this show religiously when I was a kid and thinking it was the best thing on TV. The philosophy of life exemplified by the character Kwai Chang Caine (David Carradine) had a real and lasting impact on me. Watching the same episodes all over again 30 years down the road, I find that they have not lost their original power. I would recommend watching this show with your children. If everyone learned to behave more like Kwai Chang Caine, the world would be a better place indeed.

Summary: bruce lee myths
Review: It is a common myth that Bruce Lee was involved in the creation of the kung fu TV series. The myth that it was stolen from him is just a fabrication popularized by the seldom factual movie "Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story". He did however audition for the role and was turned down and rightfully so. Bruce was too big for the role of a humble monk. Why would anyone complain about him NOT getting this role, if he did he wouldn't have made any movies and would not have become a cult hero. He would just be another used and abused series character actor of the 70's.... With that said, this series as worth anyones time and money and amazons prices can't be beat!

Review: This Kung Fu series was a BRUCE LEE's Idea. and BRUCE LEE himself was supposed to be in it. But for Racists in the USA, they stole the idea and made money of of itt with this film. What a disgrace. I never watch this film nor spend a penny on it.
