Summary: Very Nice Collection Of Highlights!
Review: After reading the reviews on this item, I can say that if one expects complete games, highly detailed analyses or critical interviews there will be utter disappointment. However, to those who love the NFL, this set is superb. Now let's face it, rabid NFL fans are never really satisfied with these kind of presentations. Rabid fans want complete games, complete player characteristics and commentaries, pregame and postgame analysis and copious amounts of verbage on game strategy. Since this would be an impossible task, a collection set like this one is the next best thing. All the dvds contain footage previously released by NFL Films and broadcast on ESPN, ESPN2 and the like. NFL fans who have taped many of these programs can now appreciate these episodes in the new dvd format. This collection of highlights puts related items into one chronological presentation. This is an excellent set for all NFL fans and, especially, the fans who favor the victorious teams in their respective Super Bowls. Particularly, fans of the Steelers (2 SB wins), Raiders (3 SB wins) and the 49ers (2 SB wins). Each dvd contains highlights of each NFL season that leads to the Super Bowl and then highlights of the Super Bowl itself. Featurettes (two for each Super Bowl year) pertaining to the players or the teams are also provided. Each featurette is approximately 5 minutes in length. While NFL Films has tried, in later years, to provide more intricate analysis and detailed reviews for the enjoyment of serious fans, most of this set is simply for the entertainment. However, one can see the evolution of season and game commentary with analysis in the later games as in comparison to the earlier games. In other words, Super Bowls XIX and XX are given a more detailed analysis and commentary than earlier Super Bowls. If greater attention to a team is desired, NFL Films has released season reviews and "complete" histories for several of the NFL teams. In all, this is a great set and I look forward to the release of future collection sets in this series, especially, if the trend to present more and better commentaries and analyses will continue. Great memories are rekindled and excitement is relived while viewing some of the greatest athletes playing in the world's greatest game. Enjoy!

Summary: Great job by NFL Films!
Review: Buy these DVD's! They are as good as it can get!

I need your help. I ordered my DVD set through amazon.ca. However, the set I received was defective...the collectable booklet was missing. Amazon.ca sent me a replacement, but the collectable booklet was still missing. Now, they are offering me a full refund, but that's not what I want. Those DVD's are so good, I don't want to get rid of them!

I'm willing to pay $10 to anyone who would be kind enough to send me the missing booklet. I know that some care about collectable items and others really don't. For the later group, helping me would be an easy way to make the DVD's more affordable for you! :-) PLEASE HELP ME!!! Email me at : superbowlbooklet@hotmail.com

Summary: Great Job by NFL Films
Review: I have always like watching the Superbowl highlights films on ESPN, but it is even better on DVD because they are uncut plus you have a season highlights of that superbowl year. For those expecting to see the whole game of those Superbowls will be disapointed. It would be nice to see the actual broadcast of those Superbowls, but I am not sure if they still exist. For now, the highlights that NFL Films shows from the superbowl are the best we have. I love the music.

Summary: Complete crap!!! I'm glad I didn't buy these!
Review: I rented a couple of these DVD's from Netflix thinking I would get to see four great super bowls from back in the day. Not the case. Highlight footage and crappy commentary. I want to see the entire games, kickoff to final buzzer. Come on NFL Films, get your sh-t together and stop ripping people off! The name on these is very misleading. It's a Super Bowl "HIGHLIGHTS" collection not the games themselves which sucks.

Summary: 'Bowled over, again!
Review: I've always been a fan of NFL Films' half-hour Super Bowl game recap/highlight shows that play on ESPN2 during the week leading up to the big game, and have always lamented the fact that they never bothered to put any of 'em out on DVD. Well, until about six months ago (as of this writing) when they finally came around and put the first ten Super Bowl highlight shows (as well as quick NFL season recaps leading up to the championship, and other bonus featurettes) out in a nifty DVD box set. Now they've thrown out the second decalogue of highlights from "The Great American Time-Out", featuring both good moments (the 49ers' first two wins in XVI & XIX; The 'Skins' first Super Bowl Championship in game XVII, and the Bears' 46 defense stealing the show in game XX) and not-so-great ones (The Raiders claiming games XI, XV, and XVIII, and the Cowboys picking up their second Lombardi trophy after XII). Now I can finally toss out a few more of the gradually deteriorating VHS tapes of those same segments that I taped off of ESPN2 a few years back!

While I thought the recap shows alone were worth the bucks I laid down for it, NFL Films added even more value to the presentation by throwing in two featurettes in with each Super Bowl game. While I found most of 'em kinda interesting, I was also driven to nausea by the sappiness of a few of 'em. Runnin' the Saccharine-o-meter to the red zone was the piece on Anthony Munoz and his NFL prospect son, Howie Long discussing his life in football and how he's been keepin' himself busy after his retirement, and Jim Plunkett pulling himself off of the NFL scrap heap to lead the Raiders to two Super Bowl championships. I swear, if I hear one more interview where someone was talking about how much heart ol' what's-his-face had, or how so-and-so's toughness & drive really inspired the rest of the team, I'm gonna need insulin treatments!

Topping off this set's sack o' goodies is a booklet that features images and basic info on each contest, including the date each game was played and the city & stadium it was played in, program covers, championship rings, rosters, scores by quarter, final scores, and the name & position of each game MVP (or, in the case of Supe XII, co-MVPs). A glossy, full-color Super Bowl XX ticket facsimile adds a nice finishing touch to it all. Now if only they'd throw in a soundtrack CD of some of those amazing tunes that compliment the game action...

Needless to say, I can hardly wait to get the "XXI to XXX" set when it comes out. Just like this set has done, the third offering's gonna bring back more'n a few bittersweet memories! Um, the "bitter" part being the Cowboys' wins in XXVII, XXVIII, & XXX and the Giants holding on to win XXV. Er, and the "sweet" part being the Redskins' wins in XXII & XXVI, and the Niners taking Supes XXIII, XXIV, and XXIX. I'll laugh, I'll cry... I'll kiss another fifty smackers good-bye!

Summary: Highlights Only
Review: Misleading title, I was attempting to locate the entire games not just the highlights.

Review: Outstanding collection of NFL super bowl recaps season highlights from the old days and other commentary from the players and coaches. Totally worth it.

Summary: Excellent Package
Review: Some people have criticised this title for not containing the entire games. What they fail to understand is that NFL Films does not own the footage from the TV broadcasts and therefore cannot publish such material.
The actual documentaries are of an excellent quality, both in cinematography and in narrative. Of course, with narration from the likes of John Facenda and Harry Kalas, the overall effect is multiplied.
These documentary films really capture the spirit of the big games, and to have ten of them on five discs, and the season review films, plus extras, represents excellent value for money. I very much recommend this, and other titles in the "Super Bowl Collection" series.

Summary: must see
Review: there is nothing like the NFL&Especially watching Super Bowl past Highlights minus when it's my Buffalo Bills. I won't be able to watch this Broadcast of that with ease. but Prior to the 90's the Super Bowl is always quite exciting.great deal&alot of cool footage. a Must have for the Ultimate Football fan.

Summary: Superbowl time
Review: Without question, the superbowl has become America's biggest one day sporting event. The superbowl make hero's out of nobody's (see Timmy Smith, Doug Williams, Kurt Warner) or goats of out losers (see the 70's Minnesota Vikings, the 80's Broncos, and the 90's Bills). This dvd tells the history of the season and the highlights of the superbowl game. I am huge fan of the superbowls. I had recorded everyone when they used to come on ESPN2 and ESPN classic before the superbowl was to be played. I'm glad that now the Superbowls are now on dvd.
