Rating: Summary: ECW's first PPV Barely Legal! Review: This was a very good card from the BEST wrestling promotion. All the matches are very good but very different so there is a match that all wrestling fans will like because of the show's diversity. The reason the dvd gets 4 stars is because the match between Shane Douglas (the most over-rated wrestler of all time) and Pitbull 2 is incredibly boring and hard to watch. My advice is to just skip over this match because it is just terrible. Nevertheless this is a great dvd.
Rating: Summary: GOOD, BUT NOT GREAT!!!! Review: This was ECW's very first PPV, and it was a damn good one too, but not great. All of the matches were pretty good but the "grudge match of the century" between Sabu & Taz was a huge let down. It was slow and boring and the fans didn't really get into it that much either. Sabu didn't even seem into it for some reason. However, the betrayal after the matchup is shocking to say the least. The main event was a little more interesting but still could've been better: The Sandman vs. Terry Funk vs. Steven Richards in a three-way dance. It had its moments and I still watch it sometimes. Terry Funk won the matchup and went on to face Raven for the ECW World Heavyweight title. Terry Funk gets really bloody and seems to be losing big time, that is, until Tommy Dreamer interferes and hits Raven w/ a DDT. Terry Funk pins Raven to become the new ECW Champion at 53 years of age! Tommy Dreamer chokeslams Big Dick Dudley off of the balcony through 3 stacked tables, to which commentator Joey Styles screams a long "OHHHHHHHH, MYYYYYYYY, GODDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!" This pay-per-view had its moments and some pretty cool matches. It's worth buying if you like trashy hardcore wrestling. Not a whole lot of blood & guts, but enough to make you happy.
Rating: Summary: Barely Watchable Review: What Pioneer Entertainment did to the Barely Legal PPV is horrible. They edited out all of the promos and interviews, including the Terry Funk package and even the streamers thrown before the Mic. Pro match. It's a damn shame they edited out all that stuff just to save some money of the VHS tape. As a fan you are better off finding a copy of the original PPV and saving your money.
Rating: Summary: ECW's 1St PPV is a HUGE SUCCESS Review: Wow, ECW really did put on a great show for their 1st ppv...i am amazed at the talent and the dedication that was put into this event...Here are my ratings for each match...Dudleys vs Eliminators- Wow, what a freakin (...)opener. Definitely got the crowd going and both the dudleys and eliminators put out all the stops---RATING- 8/10 Rob Van Dam vs Lance Storm- Rob Van Dam and Lance Storm steal the show again with high aerial moves and a lot of high speed and techicinal moves...job well done.- RATING- 9.5/10 6 Man Tag- Taka, Togo, and Teioh vs Great Sasuke, Naniwa, and Yakushiji- THREE WORDS- OH MY GOD!!! This definitely was the best match of the show my friends. This men were of lightning speed and words can not describe the action of these men- RATING 10/10 Shane Douglas vs Pitbull #2- Well no offense to both men,,but this was the worst match of the night....The both were very good in this match but its hard to top the other three matches before. The ending was great which made the match special. So ill have to be leiant with these men...RATING- 6/10 Sabu vs TaZ- Grudge Match of the Century....not really. I was hyped for the match...and was disappointed. There were some high spots but very slow. They have had better matches and I wasnt feeling the match...it was very good but I expected more. The ending was nice though. Ill give these men more credit because Sabu was still recovering from a shoulder surgery and broke his nose in the beginning of the match.- RATING 7/10 Terry Funk vs Sandman vs Big Stevie Cool- This was a very entertaining match...Terry Funk is the Living Legend and he proves it in this match... Big Stevie Cool did well in this match as well...and the Sandman is great too.. This match was very well planned and Terry Funk made me drop my jaw during his high spots. RATING- 9/10 Raven vs Terry Funk- This match was okay but because Terry Funk was losing a great amount of blood, that they couldnt do much...although Raven had a nice high spot with a table. Special appearances were Tommy Dreamer, Big Dick Dudley, and Raven's Nest. RATING- 8/10 Overall- this was one (...)first ppv and the ppvs only gets better with ECW. During 1997, this PPV would definitely beat any PPV from 97 WCW and WWF PPV. If you really love this tape...then definitely get Heatwave 98 because even that tops this great PPV.
