Other highlights: Edge and Booker T match, Christian faces ultimate humiliation against Diamond Dallas Page, Undertaker and Ric Flair battle it out in another death-defying match, and much more!

Summary: Wrestlemania X8....okay, but lacking a bit...
Review: WrestleMania X8 was good, and worth buying if you can find it simply because it was the last Wrestlemania to carry the WWF moniker before WWF became WWE, but a bit lackluster as well...

Saliva performs one of the official themes of WM X8, "superstar" to an indifferent crowd...

#1: WWF Intercontinental Championship:
William Regal (champ) vs. Rob Van Dam: Good match, but any match with RVD is good. Great curtain-jerker for a Wrestlemania. ***

#2: WWF European Title: DDP (champion) vs. Christian.
okay match, worth seeing also because DDP trips on his way down the ramp to the ring.... ***

#3: WWF Hardcore Championship: Goldust vs. Maven (Champ). Okay. Neither man wins due to the 24/7 rule, which comes into play about 200 times during the event... **

Drowning Pool performs "Tear Away", the other theme of Wrestlemania X8.

Backstage: The Hardcore title changes hands for the second time in the event....

#4: Kurt Angle VS. Kane. Okay match. **1/2

#5: Undertaker vs. Ric Flair. Good match, slightly nostalgic seeing Natch back in the ring... ****

#6: "I can't believe this is about hair" match: Edge vs. Booker T. Pretty good match, Edge makes fun of Booker T's Spin-a-roony near the end, too. ***1/2

Backstage: The Hardcore title changes hands again....

#7:Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Scott Hall. Good match. ****

#8: WWF Tag Team Titles: 4 Corners Elimination Match:
Billy & Chuck (champs) vs. Hardy Boys vs. APA vs. Dudley Boys.
Saliva plays the Dudleys to the ring. In a truly hilarious shot, you can see Bubba Ray "rocking out" with Saliva's guitarist, looking incredibly stupid in the process. As for the match, it's pretty good. ***

Backstage: The Hardcore Title changes hands yet again....

#9: The Rock VS. Hulk Hogan. Wow! What a match. The crowd was on fire all through the match, which adds to how great it was. Definitely the best match on the card. *****

#10: WWF Women's Championship: Triple Threat Match.
WHat we have here is a chance for the crowd to cool down between main events. *1/2

In the Parking Garage: THe Hardcore title changes hands for the fifth time in the event....
#11: WWF Undisputed Championship: HHH vs. Chris Jericho (champ)
Drowning Pool plays their version of MOtorhead's "The Game" which is Triple H's theme song. They sound like sh*t. Average Match. HHH was still somewhat injured, though, so he couldn't give a really good performance.

Overall, pretty lackluster. Definitely not the best Wrestlemania, and definitely not as good as Wrestlemania XIX.

Overall, **

Summary: Neither the best or the worst
Review: Hogan vs. Rock
Arguably the biggest match in years, problem is that its also one of the worst. I watched the first time merely to see -out of interest- whether the WWE could pull this off, and they do. But underneath the glitz and glamour this is one of the worst Rock matches and a pretty bland Hogan match.
(3/5 - and it would've been 2/5 had it not been hyped up so much by the crowds at the time)

Triple H vs. Jericho
Based on previous HHH/Y2J matches it should've been the match of the night. Sadly, it was unremarkable performance from both men and was butchered in crowd involvement by Hogan/Rock match earlier in the night. But, at the time HHH was the man and these guys deserved the title match more than Rock, Austin or Hogan who generally steal the main event spot.
(3/5)

Stone Cold vs. Scott Hall
Decent but nothing more. An average match which ends an average feud.
(3/5)

Undertaker vs. Ric Flair
I almost fell asleep during this, Flair ruled in the 80's, what the hell is he doing in the 00's? Surely they (WWE) realise that Taker is only good in matches with people like Angle, Bret Hart or Benoit who can lead and carry the lifeless oaf. Trash.
So predictable, its obvious he will never lose at Mania and therefore its so very pointless to watch him, unless you know he is going to have a fantastic match (and with the exception of Mania X-Seven they have all been bellow average) and he is not going to have a fantastic match against modern day Ric Flair. Nuff said.
(2/5)

Kane vs. Angle
Not bad. Angle rules. Kane sucks. Angle makes Kane look good.
(3/5)

The rest are neither here nor there, so I won't waste your time reading my comments.

WrestleMania 18, knowing it had a mega Hogan-Rock match should've also had Jericho vs. Triple H vs. Angle vs. Austin in a 4-way for the Undisputed title (a match which could've competed with Hogan vs. Rock for main event status). It should've also had Vince McMahon vs. Flair for the ownership of WWE and Undertaker and Kane vs. Kevin Nash and Scott Hall..... Now that would've made an amazing show.

Match 11)Undisputed Title:(c)Chris Jericho vs. Triple H

This match card looked awesome even before I saw them! Here are the results with a small review:

Match 1)Intercontinental Title:RVD def William Regal

I like RVD and hate William Regal! This match was only 6 minutes but it had a pretty good ending. Once again RVD wins with the ***** frog splash. ***

Match 2)European Champion DDP def. Christian

Not a very good match. Too short! A good ending but it could of been longer. **

Match 3)Hardcore Champion Maven def. Goldust, Hurricane, Crash Holly, Mighty Molly, and Christian

A pretty good Hardcore title frenzy but not too interesting. It is definitly worth watching though. ***

Match 4)Kurt Angle def. Kane

The best match so far! It is technical, highflying, and a powerful type match!I thought Kane would win but Angle showed us all! *****

Match 5)No dq match:Undertaker def. Ric Flair

Another great match with Arn Andrewson interfearing but gets the crap beat out of him! I love matches with weapons! Great match! **** 1/2

Match 6)Edge def. Booker T.

Very short match with no build up! It could have been better but the ending was great! ***

Match 7)Stone Cold def. Scott Hall

Once again a great match with the nwo interfearing but Austin did away with all of them. Another Stone Cold victory! ****

Match 8)Tag Team Champions Billy&Chuck def. Hardy Boyz, Dudley Boyz, and the APA

Great tag team match! Finally a heel wins a match! The APA was gone first then Dudley Boyz, and last The Hardy Boyz. A match that we all knew who'd win because they won the Tag Team Titles not too long ago! **** 1/2

Match 9)The Rock def. Hulk Hogan

All I can say that this was a perfect match! Great moves! Great ending! The after match when Hogan celebrated with The Rock was awesome! *****

Match 10)Women's Champion Jazz def. Lita and Trish Stratus

Why was this after the best match on the card!!!! Still, a good but short Women's Title match. I hate to see Jazz retain her title! *** 1/2

Match 11)Undisputed Title:Triple H def. Chris Jericho

The second best match on the card! A true main event match! Thank God Triple H wins and Y2J & Steph loses!!! *****

The best Wrestlemania there ever was! You must buy this!!!

Summary: A Great WrestleMania!
Review: This one was as close to a perfect DVD as one could get. It had a great card along with great extras! The extras are nice and even features a bonus match with Hulk Hogan Vs. The Ultimate Warrior from WrestleMania VI! But, it is ultimately the card itself that sells the DVD so let's get to it:

Rob Van Damn Vs. William Regal(WWE Intercontinental Championship Match) - A good opener. Many thought that the clash of styles might be a problem but it worked out okay. Despite his critics, William Regal might be one of the better workers out there while RVD......well, he's RVD!

Diamond Dallas Page Vs. Christian (WWE European Championship) - This match was better than expected! I thought it would be boring but the two put on a decent showing. This turned out to be DDP's last PPV bout due to a neck injury that he suffered about two weeks later or so. At least he fulfilled one of his dreams and that was to compete at WrestleMania.

Maven Vs. Goldust (WWE Hardcore Championship) - This one was a bit boring but got interesting as the "24/7 rule" was reinstituted for this match. We saw Spike Dudley, Al Snow, The Hurricane, Christian and even Molly Holly get involved in this! It made for some good light comedy.

Kane vs. Kurt Angle - This one was actually a good bout but a horribly botched ending due to Kurt Angle (a rarity for him since he's usually on point with his matches). A good bout nonetheless.

Ric Flair vs. Undertaker - If not for Rock Vs. Hogan, THIS would've been the match of the night without a doubt! For two guys past their 40's (Flair is mid 50's), they did what guys half their age can't do! Only wished they could've got Tully Blanchard and Ole Anderson for a real Horsemen run in but all in all, I can't complain. Great match!

Edge vs. Booker T - Not a bad match. Had a couple of good spots.

Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Scott Hall - Now, there is a slight controversy over this bout. Originally, Hall was supposed to win but Austin insisted on not jobbing and the nWo agreed. Some might complain and I am not a big Austin fan but how many times did the nWo get the job in the old WCW? Poetic Justice to me. Anyway, not a great match but watchable.

Four-Team Elimination WWE Tag Team Championship - Unless you just like these teams, just skip this match!

The Rock vs. Hollywood Hulk Hogan - This match was the true main event of WrestleMania 18. I don't care what HHH says (though I do agree with him in principle that the WWE title should be the main event at WrestleMania, I think an exception should've been made here), THIS IS THE MAIN EVENT! The crowd was all into it. The biggest surprise was the crowd as they not only booed The Rock despite the fact he was a face and Hogan was the heel, they brought energy to the match! You'll love it just for the crowd reactions alone!

Triple Threat WWE Women's Championship - I felt bad for Jazz, Lita and Trish Stratus as this was actually a good three way match! On another night, these women would've gotten the applause they deserved but coming after Hogan/Rock was an unenviable task. The crowd, while appreciative of the efforts, were emotionally drained.

Triple H Vs. Y2J (Undisputed WWE Championship) - This one was decided before the two stepped into the ring. It wasn't exciting to begin with and coming behind Rock/Hogan, the crowd was just waiting for this match to be over with by this point. If you want to see a good HHH Vs. Jericho match, may I recommend renting or buying WWF Fully Loaded 2000 for the Last Man Standing match! That one was classic!

All in all, a great DVD!

Summary: Wrestlemania 18 REVIEW
Review: The eighteenth annual "Wrestlemania" was the last to wear the WWF moniker before it was legally forced to change to World Wrestling Entertainment.

Once you look past the "dream match" featuring "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and The Rock, there really isn't much to this event. Hogan vs. Rock is not exactly a scientific classic as both men stretch their limited list of moves as far as it gets. This match lives up to its hype, though like most of the card, the outcome is predictable.

There lies the biggest problem with most of this card. While we are getting to see a few big first-time meetings, it's clear that the younger guys are gonna win. It's about the veterans passing the torch. In one of the odder pairings, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin takes on Scott Hall. With all respect given to Hall, this one just doesn't look good on paper. As an opponent for the most popular athlete in the company, Hall just doesn't work. With Hall's past, it is clear who is gonna get the win here. The other big problem here is the feud was developed for barely even a month and while it worked with Hogan-Rock, it doesn't here.

Aside from a very well-worked opening match with Rob Van Dam challenging William Regal for the Intercontinental Title and a better-than-usual Woman's match, this pay-per-view is pretty poor. Hogan and Rock should have closed the show as it was clearly more interesting than the World Title main event with Triple H and Chris Jericho. This match was pretty good though it's only real point of interest was the hope that Triple H would get his hands on Stephanie. The fans can never get enough of seeing Steph gets her. I always felt that she worked more effectively as the snobby heel. The rest of the card is average at best.
