Summary: my favorite movie of all time
Review: I have to say as a female basketball player and a movie freak this movie is the best one out there. I fell in love with it completely. Lathan did a terrific job as Monica, she was so good that she made me want to be just like her. The baskteball is great too. The DVD is way above good, its even under- priced for what it has to offer!

Summary: Over and Over
Review: I absolutely love this movie and it is ten times better on DVD. I watch it over and over and never get sick of it. With the DVD you read the actually script as you watch the movie, watch deleted scenes, audition tapes, bloopers, and listen to director commentary. If you love the movie you'll love the DVD. I had so much fun just watching the blooper tapes and reading about the actors. It's excellent and worth the money.

Summary: This is why they invented DVDs!
Review: You can see from the accolades that this is a great movie. Yet it was much more fun on DVD. It is chock full of features that make it obvious that the director was excited about the new medium and wanted to make it worth our while to watch it. It includes some great blooper scenes, audition tapes, lots of commentary from the director, editor, and main actress, and some scenes that were edited out, which you can watch with or without commentary. If you like delving into a movie in depth, then you will have fun with this DVD.

As for the movie...how wonderful to see a sports film that is told from a female character's perspective. Also, something you might not have thought about: as an educator, I also appreciate the love scenes which were very sexy but also promoted safer sex. A classic that I will look forward to showing to my kids!

Summary: A Must Buy
Review: Love and Basketball is a wonderful film staring Omar Epps and Sanaa Lathan, a real life couple, whose chemistry is evident in the movie. The plot follows two standout basketball players throughout their lives, starting at age eleven. The plot, characters, and all other elements are truly great. The film itself is completely worth watching, but the special features on the DVD make it a must to have in your film collection. I particularly enjoyed the Commentary version of the movie where Sanaa Lathan (Monica) and Gina Price-Blythwood (writer/director) offer an inside look at the making of the film. Other great features include the Lucy Pearl music video for "Dance Tonight" and several deleted scenes, which give you the option to watch as the scenes as were meant for the movie and the option to watch with commentary from Price-Blythwood, explaining where the scene would have come in, why it was deleted, etc. The DVD also contains bloopers, a documentary, and Epps & Lathan's audition tapes, which the option of seeing the auditions and the actual scenes. It was great to see how some parts changed (for example, in the audition they addressed how Quincy [Epps] knocked out Monica's tooth when they were eleven, but in the actual film the scene was changed so that Monica got a scar from the incident; the reason behind that is addressed in the commentary version of the film) I would recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys love stories (Price-Blythwood said that the film is a love story and basketball is a backdrop) or anyone who enjoys basketball because this movie has tons of action. Also, in the commentary edition, the women talked about how certain things in the movie got attention because they were "black" but I want to note that I am a white, teenage female, probably one of the last people this movie was supposed to be marketed to. I think anyone can enjoy this movie because the acting is dynamic and the special features are plentiful!

Summary: Brilliant movie!!!!
Review: I finally saw this movie on 01/01/01 and it was wonderful. This was really worth watching. The movie is about two childhood friends who just happen to be neighbours, go to the same college, and share the same love for basketball. The movie really tested their friendship when they decided to take their friendship to another level. There was some serious drama in the movie but it worked out well. It had a wonderful ending. I can't tell you the ending, but when you see the movie you'll know exactly why.

Summary: Very Realistic
Review: Love and Basketball is one of the best movies I have ever seen! And let it be known you don't even have to like Basketball, I hate it, but it is that good of a movie. The relationship between Monica and Quincy is very realistic, it was so real. Their relationship reminded me so much of my last past relationship. I cried, laughed, and was mad throughout the course of this movie- I recommend it to any movie lover out there- this is one of the best!

Summary: Sanaa! Sanaa! Sanaa!
Review: Love and Basketball was such an inspiring movie. I literally watch this movie 8 times in 5 days. I could never get enough of it. If you have been thinking about renting this movie do it, do it now, hey why not buy it. You will watch this movie over and over again. The two stars Sanaa Lathan and Omar Epps are excellent. Sanaa does and excellent job. She can pull of any roll. In the beginning of the Movie You see Sanaa as Monica the teenager. She can play any age. This movie is like watching your own friends on screen. By the end of the movie you will have swore it was real.

Review: this is one of the most realistic movies i have seen in a long time, and I would highly reccomend it to anyone even if you aren't into basketball. Its a great romantic drama about a girl who follows her dreams and still gets everything she really wants in the end.
