Summary: Love It
Review: Being a female basketballer myself i really loved this movie..

They picked the correct cast. Sanaa and Omar fit the role perfectly.

This is a must buy if you love basketball and love stories all together in one. though the ending wouldnt really happen in real life its a good ending for girls anyway.

It is not a movie just about bball so if you want to see serious action on that behalf its not for you... but if you like to see half of love and half of bball its really good. But it goes deep into child hood love. And how family life is in different situations. i think its deep on most levels.

Ps. Just like monica i found my prince charming and i'll love him forever.

Review: This is my favorite movie. As soon as my friends saw this movie, they said they thought about me. They said that I remind them of Sanaa Lathan so much. I really enjoyed the movie! I don't think there could have been any other actors that could have played the parts better. Sanaa and Omar are wonderful actors. Sanaa is beginning to be an actress that everyone is wanting. Reason being because of all the movies that she has played in and she has only been known for a short amount of time. Movies like: The Wood, Disappearing Acts, and The Best Man. We can't forget about Kyla Pratt and little Omar. But anyways, I think that Sanaa and Omar make a real cute couple. ... Oh yeah, the soundtrack is off the hook! ...

Summary: A Romantic and Athletic film
Review: Love and Basketball gets a thumbs up.They had the right actors and everything. Quincy and Monica, 11, started out as next door neighbors. They fell in love with each other. Later Q tryed to play Monica's heart because of her love for basketball, her #1 priority. He got engaged to Kyra played by actress Tyra Banks. I cried because he knew his heart was with Monica Wright. In a game of one on one basketball they showed their true love. They used expressions like "Where's the D" and "Double or Nothing".

I am a true Omar Epps fan. He is so handsome and definitely a sex symbol. I really enjoyed the movie.

Much Love

Summary: worth watching
Review: Follows the relationship of Monica and Q from elementary school, through high school, college, and life afterwards as they grow to maturity on the court and off. Sanaa Lathan is great as Monica, the girl who wants nothing more than to be the first woman to play in the NBA yet slowly begins to realize there is something greater missing from her life. Omar Epps does his usual fine performance as Q, a boy striving to be better than his NBA star father who learns that a man doesn't necessarily have to be a star. The basketball scenes are well shot and pretty realistic in the aspect of how male and female teams are viewed by the fans. Overall a very enjoyable movie.

Summary: Sanaa is so under-rated !!!
Review: Can someone please tell me why Sanaa did not get an Oscar for her role as Monica ? She's been robbed fair and square. The acting was okay but Sanaa's performance was knockout. My heart stated racing frantically when Monica found out that Q was engaged. My heart broke. I had to put the DVD on pause and get a strong drink before I could go back to it. You could just feel the emotion in the last scenes when Sanaa played Q for his heart. Gushy, yes but wasn't it so romantic. As she started to lose, I started to fret. She was pacing the court, running her hand over her head, she looked like she was about to faint and burst into tears at the same time. REMARKABLE ACTING !!!!

What can I say, the last time I enjoyed a film with such a large African American cast was when "The Best Man" was released. I loved this film so much. I've watched it day and night since I got it. Sanaa & Omar seemed so real in their love for one another that I started surfing to find out some more info !!!! Lo and behold they ARE a couple. Ask me why I loved this film -Well I love romantic films depicting black people. I love when directors portray the fact that there are a lot of hard working, determined middle class black people who strive to be the best in life instead of the tacky gang banging, crack head, baby momma films - Well done !!!

Summary: Most Well Rounded Film In History!!!
Review: Love and Basketball is so extraordinary, I can barely find the words to describe it. The lives and loves of two next door neighbors, Quincy and Monica, are wonderful weaved in a tapestry that will have you amazed! From young children to grown ups, we find these two struggling to deal with and master both Love AND Basketball as they go through life. It isn't easy, but this wonderfully written and directed film grabs every emotion, every situation and carefully lays it bare, then covers it with healing, love and laughter.

Even if you don't particularly like basketball, you will still adore the comedy/drama of the relationships in this movie. Whether it's Quincy and Monica, Quincy and his father, Monica and her mother, or the short, but significant appearance of Tyra Banks near the end as Quincy's fiancee. You will be completely captured from beginning to end. And unlike many other movies, Love and Basketball never sells you short. Every moment counts and at no time was I bored or screaming "NEXT!!" at the tv.

I highly recommend this one. Not only for the superb acting, writing and directing, but it has the most AMAZING soundtrack!! When you hear Angie Stone's remake of Simply Red's song "I'll Keep Holding On", you will have tears in your eyes. Trust me. This one's a definite Must Have!

Summary: A winning film
Review: Love and Basketball is a film about two aspiring basketball players, one a male and the other female. The roles in this movie are slightly reversed; the woman loves basketball more than the male, and the male really just loves her.

In this movie you will follow the couple from the their young years up through post-college. I enjoyed the movie because it was a different look at athletics and women's sports particularly. Rarely does a movie take a more feminist view. My only complaint was the passage of time. The movie is divided into quarters, each representing a new period of the actor's lives. With four quarters (and an overtime), very little time can be given to each time period. I ended up asking, "What happened next?" But, it is still a good movie for a change of pace.

Summary: Love and Basketball was a Slam Dunk!
Review: Love and Basketball is among the best movies i have seen (and that has been MANY!) The story of two kids growing up and falling in love is touching, both athletes, who put their love first. The movie is perfect, i think that all people should watch it. This is not your regular sports movie, it is a film of love, and putting that as your first priority. Anyone will love this movie, it is made for peopel of all ages! :) i highly recommend you to watch it!
