Summary: These tapes are just amazing!!
Review: Our daughter, Sophie, has been watching the Baby Einstein series since 2 weeks old. She absolutely loves them!! Now, when they come on she sings and laughs and dances to the music!! We just got the Baby Newton for her 1st Birthday and of course, just loves it!! I recommend these tapes to anyone!!

Summary: Baby Newton
Review: I absolutely hated this video at first---I loved the other Baby Einstein videos with the great toys and beautiful children, and so did my 11 month old son. The clown in this video is scary with his jiggling dance and blank expression. HOWEVER, my son loves this video. He watches it every night. I do not understand what he enjoys about it but now that it plays every night, the shapes song plays in my head. If you are over 2 years old, you most likely will not enjoy this video. But babies seem to love it and it is educational.

Summary: Simply Awful
Review: My daughter, who loves the other (pre-Disney) Baby Einstein videos, cried (16 months). We put it away for a few months and tried again (at 20 months) -- and she cried again (at the same spot). It's scary, moves much more quickly than the other videos, and seems like a ... knock-off of the real thing (even the toys and puppets look cheesy). The "original" song is dumb, and even the classical portion of the sound track sounds bad (as in, poor quality recording and mixing). Don't waste your money. This is Baby Einstein sells out.

Summary: More Baby Eistein
Review: My one-year old has a real hard time getting ready for bed. I just picked up the Baby Newton and WOW it relaxs him so that he is ready to go to bed for the night. My wife and I have Mozart, Dolittle, Christmas and Einstein. We needed something new for him and out came Newton. I don't think Disney ruined it. The only thing we noticed is that they spend more time on the circle then the other shapes. We like the upbeat music and all the colors they used in this video. As a school teacher in Special Ed I am thinking about using it in class with my delayed students. It gets high marks from this family!

Summary: Too Much Disney
Review: Julie Clark has allowed Disney's style to overpower her original concept. The music is loud and dopey, the crayon character is frightening and the real children's faces are missing...

Summary: Straying from a good formula
Review: What was unique about the Baby Einstein series of tapes was that they used real-life objects along with classical music to create a world already familiar to young minds.
So, of course, they have to eliminate much of the real-life objects in lieu of digital animation, and replace the classical music with new children's songs.
Our toddlers watch the tape, but don't get into it as much as Julie Clark's two Baby Dolittle tapes.
If you get it as a gift, you won't want to return it - but it certainly isn't worth paying full price for.

Summary: Wonderful teaching materials for toddlers
Review: My 18 month-old-son had enjoyed but outgrown all the other Baby Einstein materials. I would not have purchased BABY NEWTON were it not for the enthusiasm he displayed in watching the video at a local children's store. He learned his basic shapes from watching this tape, and now correctly identifies shapes by name in any context. I think whether or not a parent finds this tape worth the purchase price is directly related to a child's developmental stage. Frankly, I found it refreshing to not have to watch Julie Clark's children. Disney products may seem "slick" to some people, but I cannot argue with the effectiveness of the production values in achieving the goal of teaching shapes.

Summary: What happened to the kids?!
Review: One of the things that my baby really enjoyed about the Baby Einstein videoes was the kids. She was always delighted by the segments showing children of varying ethnicities singing, interacting with hand puppets or shouting out a highlighted color or word. (One of her particular favorites is the kids singing the alphabet in Baby Shakespeare). While this DVD did a good job of illustrating shapes and making them fun, I will have to put it away until my daughter is a little older as she's into exploring the world around here right now and would prefer to watch real world objects that help her do that on screen.

In short, the animation was cute but our family misses the Baby Einstein kids!

Summary: The crayon characters frighten my toddlers.
Review: I have always been a big loyal fan of the Baby Einstein Company. We have all of the videos, and my twin toddlers never tire of them. So I couldn't wait to bring this one home. There is far too much computer animation, and very little puppets and children, and "real world objects", which are the signatures of their videos. The computer animated crayons (the main characters if you will) frighten my toddlers, especially when the blue crayon does his Tarzan impression. Heck...he scares me a bit too! I hope that the Baby Einstein Company will learn from the overall negative opinion of this release, and bring back their old style on their next endeavor.

Summary: Dissapointed!
Review: The old adage of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies. I had this DVD pre-ordered for months. I was so eager to share it with my little one, but what a dissapointment. Disney's involvement took Julie Clark's amazing idea and design and changed it for the worse.
