Summary: Not up to Baby Einstein Standards
Review: We, and our 18-month old, are big fans of the Baby Einstein series. However, Baby Newton is by far the poorest-quality selection of the bunch. The video aims to teach toddlers shapes, but the stock-footage examples of shapes are downright confusing. For example, the video shows a simple drawing of an oval and then provides as a real-world example an image of a bicycle back-lit by an oval lamp. I had a hard time figuring out that I was supposed to spot the oval shape in the background instead of focusing my attention on the large, circular wheels of the bicycle, and I have a PhD. from Harvard (really -- I swear.)

Don't waste you time with this one; spend your hard-earned dollars on any of the other fine selections in the series. Might I suggest Baby Beethoven, World Animals (my son's favorite), or Baby Shakespeare.

Summary: My 14 month old LOVES this one
Review: He has other Baby Einstein DVDs and this one is his favorite. He watches the entire DVD start to finish and dances along. He loves the colors and the shapes and the *clown.* He even gets out his shaped blocks while the movie is playing and we stack them up like the video does.

Summary: My son surprised me
Review: My son (a veteran of the other Einstein videos since he was five months old) started watching this video around his second birthday. I was underwhelmed with the new Disney style since I felt it was much more animated and "pop" than the pre-Disney videos. My son, however, seemed to really enjoy it and after a couple of months began telling me whenever he saw triangles, circles or ovals. It surprised me because I had not tried to teach him shapes; his only exposure to shapes was the video. So despite my impression of the video, it obviously made a good impression on him! He is now 2 1/2 and knows all the shapes in the video.

Summary: My daughers favorite video!
Review: My daugher is 5 months old and has several of these videos, but she likes this one the best. It is slightly different from the others since it is more computer animated, but she doesn't seem to mind. I actually find the songs to be kind of catchy!

Summary: My son's favorite Baby Einstein video
Review: Others have written that their children like this the least of the Baby Einstein videos. However, it is my son's favorite (18 mo). We don't have a huge collection yet, but he will pick this one out - maybe it is the lion as someone else said. He always wanders some during any of the videos, but this one keeps his attention well. I was even able to give him a haircut while he was watching it! I find the "music video" song to be catchy.

Summary: Scary and Weird
Review: We have the Baby Mozart and Baby Van Gogh (the best) from this series, and I was interested to see how Disney would make it better. Well, was I shocked when I got this tape. The 3D clown is freaky. The original songs are terrible -- and the same one recycled, completely repeated, twice during the 30 minutes. And I was a little shocked that characters for young children dig a hole and then jump in! Get Baby Van Gogh or a Baby Laureate tape, but do yourself a favor and pass this one up.

Summary: It's great
Review: My 16 month old has always loved the Baby Einstein videos - we have Baby Bach & Baby Mozart. I felt that she needed a little more since she was odler & bought Baby Newton! We love it. The music is great and the way they show the shapes is great too! She gets all excited when she hears the music & starts to see the dancing crayons!!

Great buy!

Summary: Makes my baby CRY!!!
Review: I don't know what it is but as soon as this video starts, turns digital and there are some crayons in a box which peak out with their little eyes, my baby bursts into hysterical tears. He is genuinely terrified. It's a mystery. He got it for his first birthday and I have tried is several times over the past 7 months and each time it's the same reaction. I'm giving it away, but part of me is afraid of terrifying some other poor unexpecting soul. I don't think he's just disappointed in the poor quality. He's truly upset. So am I. What's up with that? It makes me curious if this happens to any other baby. All the other videos we've seen of this series are great. Especially the first ones, and the animal ones.

Summary: Do Not Buy
Review: Baby Newton is the worst Baby Einstein video yet. Do not waste your money on this video. Most of the video is digitalized and my child hates it. It has a digital clown that is scary looking and crayons running around during the video. Also, it teaches that a pyramid is a triangle, a cube is a square, and a sphere is a circle. I do not see how this video was even released. Next time Disney needs to do a little more market research before releasing a video. I have even thought about demanding a refund it is so bad, but I don't think it would be worth the effort.
