Summary: I Still Can't Believe the Pats did it---this video is so-so
Review: OK you gotta love it because it recaps the amazing season the Pats had BUT they leave a lot of important highlights out. They gloss over parts of the season that were important and the coverage of the Super Bowl is mediocre at best. PLUS the introduction is some ridiculous Lord of the Rings [copy] "Quest for the Lombardi Trophy." It's almost comical but I can't laugh when I watch it, it's so bad, skip right over that part. Otherwise, get it for the memories. GO PATS!!! SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS!!! Now I can die happy.

Summary: It's what I ordered
Review: The Super Bowl XXXVI champions video is exactly what I ordered. It is highlights of the great season the patriots had. The video or Dvd is great for someone who is a fan of the team, and someone like me who got stuck watching the pathetic Minnesota Vikings instead of the Patriots during the regular season.

Summary: there is no such thing as a full game movie
Review: Have you people ever heard of NFL films? This is what they put out every year! It's a season highlights. It doesn't say super bowl video it says super bowl champion patriots. sheesh

Summary: Not what I expected, but still awesome
Review: I expected to see the Superbowl in its entirety, but it ended up being highlights of the entire season. While it wasn't what I expected, it was still great. I got a rush watching the the highlights leading up to the Superbowl. What a great season for the Patriots!

Summary: Pass....
Review: Avoid this DVD unless your idea of fun is watching the 8 hour pre-game Super Bowl Show. Why can't we have the whole game on DVD? That's what people care about - not the inane brain dead "pomp" which goes along with the Super Bowl..

Summary: Great Season Review
Review: This DVD is fantastic. It is a little light on some of the games (e.g., the second Buffalo game) that I thought had a little more drama than the DVD showed, but if I were king, this season recap would have been 3 or 4 hours long. Still, great stuff, including the Grogan highlights and the 1976 season review! I feel bad for those reviewers who were looking for the entire Superbowl, but next time I suggest they read the DVD descriptions first before buying.

Summary: Do you believe in Magic?
Review: As a veteran fan of New england football past, you gotta love it. All the emotion, drama, destiny all rolled into one hour of Brady, Smith, Venetari, Law etc. If you were a New England football fan you couldn't help relive the goosebumps and tears of joy all over again. The dvd version offers a little of everything. Great on the field film effects based on the actual footage almost seems fictional. How could it not? Three overtime game winning field goals (one in a snowstorm in the last game ever to be played in Foxborough Stadium), and a superbowl that not only brought home the Lombardi trophy, but maybe an oscar too! The most satisfying of all was the usage of the Patriot anouncers Gil Santos and should be hall of famer Gino Cappeletti. Their original radio broadcasts were used simultaneously with a majority of the seasonal highlights used on this dvd. If you believed the New England Patriots were a team of magical destiny, this DVD will enhance that feeling. It's something you'll watch over and over, again.

Summary: The best super bowl in history, PERIOD!
Review: A great highlight DVD of the entire Patriots 2001-2002 season. WELL worth the... bucks! A couple of raspberries in the DVD though: two are minor while the other is a doozie. First, you get stuck watching an NFL promo at the start and you CAN'T get to the main menu or pass by this. Ridiculous for a DVD to keep you stuck in one area. There was also an error in flashing the final score of the Patriots-Carolina final regular season game. But the big doozie is they DID NOT show the great way the Patriots entered the Super Bowl as a team and did not go by the usual name by name callout of the starters. This was truly one of the main highlights of the Super Bowl, and something to show the kids when they look back, however it is disappointingly not on here at all.

Summary: Gil and Gino
Review: Tbe DVD is what I expected--the entire game tape would NEVER be sold by the NFL (too valuable a commodity).

What I did not expect but thoroughly enjoyed was the extensive use of the radio play-by-play of Gil Santos and Gino Capelitti. We New Englanders have suffered through too many lean years listening to these two guys. To re-experience these unbelievable moments with the voices we're comfortable and familiar with was great!!

My wife was disappointed; she enjoyed the pre-game entertainment much more than she did U2 (a generational thing, I guess) and thought the pre-game stuff would be on the disk.

Still a must for any New Englander

Summary: Room for improvement
Review: Football fans will enjoy this DVD; not only does it contain stunning NFL Films footage, but it truly captures the drama and emotion of a remarkable season for the New England Patriots. As a Patriots fan who watched the season unfold, I still got knots in my stomach watching the playoff games when things got tense, and remained incredulous and euphoric when things came together (the non-fumble in the Raiders game, Bledsoe entering Lazarus-like in the Steelers game, and the whole Superbowl). You will not be disappointed.

However, big-time Patriots fans may be somewhat perturbed. Since this DVD features only "highlights" of the season (I can understand why this would be the case in VHS format because of time constraints, but why not tack on the whole Superbowl as "bonus footage" on the DVD, which could easily hold 4 more hours of one of the greatest games ever played), several CRUCIAL moments from the season are omitted: the biggest oversights in my mind are no footage (or even mention) of the David Patten head-out-of-bounds reception in the Buffalo game that preserved their win streak, and no footage of long snapper Lonie Paxton ebulliently doing snow angels in the end zone after the winning FG in the Steelers game.

My other major criticism -- aside from the incredibly cheesy opening commercials noted by several reviewers -- is the lack of bonus features that could have made this DVD one of the greatest items ever. Making a section with interactive player bios and game summaries (with infomation already available on the NFL web site) would have rocked my world.

However, NFL Films did a great job of placing footage of cocky opposing fans and players disrespecting the Pats at the beginning of almost every game. The gloating Jets fan is priceless for any true Pats fan.

In summary, I recommend this DVD to any NFL or Patriots fan... you will probably wish there was more on it, but you won't be disappointed with what you get.
