Summary: Not a good purchase
Review: All the techniques were virtually the same. There were just variation of the same techniques repeated to many times. These techniques are good, but the DVD is pretty limited in his explanations. The good point is that you will know their name in Chinese... but the rest of the DVD does not worth the price.

Summary: Not for the novice
Review: I agree with one of the other reviewers, who objected to the fact that all of the wrist lock moves begin with the assailant's arm already captured. How thoughtful if your assailant proves kind enough to allow you to similarly capture his arm... in the real world, it isn't going to happen, so why is it shown that way in the dvd? I guess I'll have to shop around for some other dvd that shows how to block an intended blow and capture the wrist. The dvd seller mailed out the dvd to me on the same day I placed my order over the internet. But the postal service's special "media" rate meant that it took exactly four weeks (yeah, that's four WEEKS) to reach me at my home. The seller needs to invest a little more money in the distribution aspect of his business.

Summary: Generous AND Brilliant!
Review: Master Sang H. Kim... where to begin. Former Special Agent, creator of JunSado... what you are invited to learn AFTER you demonstrate great skill in Tae Kwon Do at his school in Connecticut. Also holds an M.S. and a Ph.D. Voted best instructor throughout Korea, very generous in his teachings.

This DVD is also quite generous... It contains twice as much as the VHS version... BOTH "Wrist and Aressting Locks" as well as "Combat Strategy"... essentially teaching the viewer how best to counter attack and then apply multitudes of Wristlocks, Arm Bars, and a great deal more, to pinning the assailant.

Another key benefit of the DVD is that you can use the Menu to study any of the techniques any way you choose. Since however the DVD begins with the primary JunSaDo wrist locks, it is best to start at the beginning, as the DVD's fluidity is designed to take each lock to yet higher levels and applications. Master Kim makes it a point to explain quite clearly and eloquently each and every technique, as well as reviewing the techinques repeatedly both in real-time and slow motion ensuring easy learning absorption.

As a Special Forces oriented Martial Arts student and part time instructor, I can tell you that learning these advanced techinques will give you the "upper hand" either in your training environment/s or really wherever you may be confronted. JunSaDo is not well known, easy to apply, extraordinarily quick, excruciatingly painful, all making even martially trained attackers at your mercy with just the slightest chance as all the techniques are easliy applied... from the clinch to the pin. It should be noted that it is not the intent to use these techniques to break bones, or dislocate limbs or joints, however it is pretty clear that they all will or sets them up for it if taken to the extreme.

This DVD is also a great resource for Law Enforcement Officers who are interested in easier restraint and control than what typical training provides.

Overall, the DVD is worth twice as much than what is asked, and I'd recommend absolutely anything with Master Sang H. Kim's generous teachings.

Summary: huge catelogue
Review: This DVD is a huge catelogue (and I mean HUGE) of moves. This is useful for more advanced practitioners as the moves cannot act independently by themselves. In a real fight, certain situation leads to these moves being used. While practicing these moves will greatly enhance your skills, I'd suggest that you feel comfortable with grappling and martial arts in general before thinking about how these moves fit into your arsenal of tools.

Summary: Abundance of techniques & variations
Review: This film has a huge catalogue of techniques, as there are 25 different wrist locks and 24 arresting locks, or so it seems. Actually, there are far less techniques than that, as every variation of a single technique is presented as a new technique. But still, there are many techniques to choose from.

As stated, most of the techniques are variations of one basic technique. For example, eleven of the first wrist locks are all variations of one technique. The techniques are presented so that the next technique builds on top of the previous technique. In a way, this is a good thing, but on the other hand, the techniques are not presented in increasing order of difficulty: for example, the basic "gooseneck" wrist lock technique used by police all around the world (so it seems) is technique number 20.

The techniques are presented several times in real time and slow motion, in some cases Kim giving verbal instruction on performing the techniques. In my opinion, the instruction is not detailed enough, and with many techniques, there actually is no real instruction whatsoever. Although they show the same technique several times, they use the same film clip over and over. This is the case even if there was some foul up in the presentation of the technique - they just have edited it off in the repetitions.

In my opinion, the techniques don't seem totally realistic (at least all of them). First of all, all of the wrist locks begin with Kim already having the attacker's arm on hold. Secondly, there is a severe "uke effect" present, meaning that the attacker doesn't really try to hit Kim, does not fight back and so on. Granted, it's easier to show the technique with a good uke, but it would have given a more realistic feel if they have showed a more resisting opponent in some of the repetitions. And third, some of the techniques used are so complicated and/or use so many combinations of techniques, that would need excessive practise. It would have been really interesting to see how these techniques do in a realistic force on force training, with full speed attacks and protective gear used.

Each of the techniques is arranged as a separate chapter on the DVD. This makes it extremely easy to find a specific technique you are looking for - provided you know the number of the technique. As the techniques vary considerably in difficulty, there is something for all levels of proficiency. It would have been an improvement if the techniques would have been rated in difficulty, to help to choose a technique of suitable level.

Summary: Fantastic piece of work!
Review: This is what DVD is for!
Training videos have always aspired to this loads of content and easy to follow. i would recomend that you have a little basic knowledge of locks before buying this as it will help you to folow it.
I see no problem from beginers to advanced with this product everything is explained simply and well and the angles are well suited to present clear applications!
Overall its impressive and I was amazed by the sheer volume of content conatained within the DVD, its also extremely easy to use as you can skip from technique to technique and everything is clearly labelled so you know what to look for!
This is great for law enforcement officer really handy and it only takes a little common sense to know whats needed and whats not in your own circumstances i.e. country of work and local laws on 'use of force'

Summary: Deserves A 10 Star Rating
Review: Why it is that someone who agrees this DVD is Fantastic and yet gies it 4 stars is beyond me.

So many features, so many easy to learn expert techniques... Not to mention you actually get 2 Titles within this edition. Wrist And Arresting Locks AND Combat Strategy. 2 for 1. Regardless...

I'm a relatively small 19 year old 110 pound woman. Someone grabbed me (200 Lbs. easy) last night while I was out with my best friend, and I used one of the techniques, actually only defense #18 because of the way he grabbed me. My attacker never had a chance, and then I used in combination one of the MANY "Walk/Come Alongs" (later demonstrated in great detail) to a more public area where he was taken into custody.

Very well probably saved us from serious harm, and it just came by instinct.

I'm so greatful for this, and I have no martial arts training. That's how well this DVD teaches people. I will now buy many more titles by Master Kim. Thank you, Master Kim for sharing your abilities for everyone who really should know how to protect ourselves.
