Rating: 5 stars
Summary: I love this workout!
Review: I'm a very fit and experienced exerciser, but tend to focus on cardio and weights. This DVD combines balance, strength, flexibility and toning in a smooth and enjoyable workout. I love the pace, the exercises, and Kari Andersen's cuing. I always feel that it's time well spent and I certainly feel it the next day. If you're looking for a program that leaves you worked out without feeling worked over, this DVD is for you.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Work on Strength, Flexibility, and Shape in a whole new way
Review: Workout Description: 35 minutes of Pilates-, ballet-, and yoga-inspired toning (alternating between standing and floorwork, focusing on the lower body and abs) with 5 minute warm-up and 15 minute cool-down stretch for a total of 55 minutes (times are approximated)
Workout Level: mid-intermediate to low-advanced
Instructor: Kari Anderson (Has a degree in exercise science; Joffrey-trained ballerina, medal-winning synchronized swimmer, and certified instructor; 1994 IDEA Instructor of the Year). Kari's cueing is precise and accurate, and her technique and form are superb. Although Kari is warm and encouraging, she is never too chatty. She works both sides evenly and intends for you to mirror her movements.
Class: 6 women of various ages
Music / Set: The instrumental music is actually very pleasant and complementary to the workout. The interior set has lots of bright colors (blues with pink and orange panels). The overall production is of high quality, with very helpful camera angles.
Equipment Needed: optional mat/carpet. Workout can be done barefoot
Caveats: Familiarity with Pilates and yoga is highly recommended. Although Kari mentions modifications, none are shown. Be sure to listen to your body, because this program should challenge you but leave you feeling stretched and calm.
Additional Comments: This is a challenging workout, particularly if you still need to work on flexibility and strength, like I do. However, it is such a well-designed and enjoyable program that, even if you struggle to complete every move as gracefully as Kari, you still feel great after finishing. This workout is terrific at the end of a week full of hard workouts or stress.
There isn't really any other workout like this, except perhaps Angles, Lines & Curves I (not yet available on DVD). It's not quite Pilates, not quite yoga, not quite dance, but a smooth mixture of all three disciplines and a little something more.
The DVD lets you skip the introduction, which you should watch the first time or two that you do the routine, and choose two shortened workouts (Strength & Flexibility Emphasis for 16 minutes, Standing & Balance Emphasis for 12 minutes).
