Summary: HORRIBLE!
Review: I just started doing yoga a week ago. I only had one video and wanted another. I just love the video I have and thinking that this video would be the same I went ahead and purchased it. I watched it and thought it was just horrible! I tried to do some of the poses but it was pointless. I wasn't stretching anything. The woman on the tape looks like she can hardly even breathe while doing the poses. I even tried doing the poses without props. Nothing. No stretching, nothing. I just felt like a blob sitting on the floor. I am very disappointed. I feel like I was ripped off! I don't see how they can get away with even calling this yoga! I cant return it because the store wont let me because it's opened. Now I am stuck with a very expensive shinny Frisbee. ... I would give this video a -5 stars if it was possible!

Summary: Tremendous
Review: I love this DVD for its interactive capabilities and tremendouns variety. I own over 50 videos/DVDs and this would have to be one of the best, if not the best. I finally decided to try yoga but thought I wasnt flexible enough. Within a month my body started to come around and open up as I often here yoga teachers say.

Cant speak highly enough about it. Lots of substance.

Summary: This is my favorite!
Review: I love this DVD! The beginning background music is very soothing. The narrator has a calming voice to go along with the instuctor's movements. All of the yoga poses are done in a slow, smooth manner. When you have to sit at a desk all day at work, it causes tension, immobility and stiffness in your joints and muscles. This DVD helps to relieve ALL of that for me.

Summary: A great program for all levels!
Review: I practiced yoga on and off for several years but hadn't done much of anything for the last 2 years. I've been using this DVD for about 2 months and I find it wonderful. The instruction is detailed (which I like, but if you don't want lots of detail or are a yoga pro, you might not like it at times), it provides modifications for different levels and you DO NOT need to have a closet full of yoga blocks, straps and other props to get through the workouts. You're told how and when to use them if you want to, but the instructor also makes suggestions to use books, rolled blankets, chairs and belts (all things you'll have around the house). If you don't want to use props at all that is also fine. My favorite part about this DVD compared to others I've tried is that I can choose what part of my body I want to work on and what sort of workout I want that day. I don't have to watch the same 30 min over and over until I can do it in my sleep or end up leaving the tape on the shelf. I'll be using this DVD for even when I become one of the Flexible People!

Summary: Where have you been all my life?
Review: I really thought I would never be able to do yoga - I just don't consider myself flexible. This video is amazing! It slowly leads you through all the things you need to gain flexiblility and strength. Most importantly for me, it dramatically reduces my stress and makes me so mellow! After I finish a day at work it really relaxes me and helps me sleep better at night. I really love it as a wonderful introduction and I can't wait to progress and use their other titles! It is not a fast moving, but very methodical and I feel it really protects me from hurting myself. Amazon also has the best pricing of any of the stores I have seen it!

Summary: Highly Recommend
Review: I recently purchased the DVD after reading a review of it in Yoga Journal and I couldn't be more pleased. Although I wouldn't classify myself as completely inflexible, I'm also not gumby. The instruction here is very thorough and gives lots of detail, including very in-depth detail on how to do the poses, and also direction on using props (if you want or need to). I guess this is what some reviewers have referred to as "slow?" If you're focussed on what you're doing and follow the direction, I can't see how you would not feel anything. It's important to understand that there are several different kinds of yoga and differnt approaches within each type. This is not power yoga. You're not meant to move at an aerobic pace with Iyengar. You will get very in tune with your body, breathing and how these work together. If you're a beginner who wants to really learn yoga and make it a part of your life for the long haul, you will greatly benefit from the dvd. If you've been doing yoga for awhile, or if like me, you aren't completely inflexible, you will still benefit from the detail and will probably find, like I did, that there are poses you thought you'd mastered but could still perfect. I like that I can choose a workout to focus on specific body areas, and choose workouts for specific purposes (like relaxation, or energizing). Nothing can take the place of a class with a qualified instructor. It's well worth time and money to take some classes at a yoga studio, but a good tape can really help and suplement your practice at home. If you're a beginner or want to get more depth to you practice, you will not be disappointed with this dvd.

Summary: Awesome Video
Review: I took yoga classes for almost 5 years and stopped for the past 10 years. Now, as on over weight, inflexible person I decided to get back into yoga again. This DVD has helped me start getting back into shape. I have increased my flexibility and my stamina in ways I did not think possible.

What I particularly love about the DVD is that I have choices. I can select what parts of my body to work on when I want to work on them. The instructor is clear and concise. They routines can be done at any level, beginner to intermediate. I have never seen anything like this where you can select what you want to do when you want to do it. It's truly revolutionary.

After really getting into this DVD I went out and bought this company's Pilates DVD and have been using that as well. It also gives me choices and my flexibility and stamina are improving with each workout I do.

I have been recommending both of these DVD's to all my friends, since they are geared to all levels and anyone can use and follow them.

Summary: buy something else
Review: I wanted a yoga DVD because I'm just starting to get into it and I thought hey this has a bunch of different routines I can do so I'll get a lot for my money. There are a lot of routines, BUT the woman demonstrating them doesn't follow what the other woman narrating says so it's confusing. Sometimes she runs through the pose so quick you have to go back and sometimes she's so slow you wanna skip the pose altogether. The woman narrating has a somewhat scratchy voice, and she has a southern accent. This may not sound like a problem, but when you're trying to relax and this woman interrupts your "flow" with her southern twang and gruffy voice, it's very distracting. If there is going to be a narrator for a yoga DVD I think he/she should have a soothing voice, and I personally don't think of a southern accent when I think of yoga and it just annoys me, no offense to anyone with a southern accent. They're very charming, but it just doesn't sound right on the DVD. The background/set for the woman demonstrating is horrible. It looks clostraphobic, not open and relaxing (it's a blue and tan? faux painted small room) and although this isn't a big thing either, it was also a distraction from being relaxed. The woman narrating doesn't match what the woman doing the poses is doing. She's onto something else by the time the woman has gotten into the pose. I'm not sure if the poses are good or bad as I'm not a yogi, but I felt a lot more relaxed and could feel my breathing a lot more from just doing poses out of a magazine (yoga journal). I'm not sure who I'd reccommend this DVD to because the people who could follow it are probably more advanced than this and the people who are beginning, or need some recovery stretch type of thing will get lost I think. The people like me looking to learn yoga should look for something else altogether. It's just so poorly made that it's incredibly distracting. The woman doing the poses looks more tense than Colin Powell. Anyway, no I don't recommend this. I wish I had gotten the "for dummies" one and now I can't return this :D.

Summary: Good intro to basics!
Review: I was not too interested in this DVD at first--mainly because of the title. I thought the yoga workouts would be too basic. Although I'm not as flexible as I'd like to be, I can still do the postures without the props. I'm still a beginner, so the benefit is in the pacing. It's incredibly slow. At first I was frustrated by the slow pace, but then I realized the DVD gives me the perfect opportunity to work on my form in doing each posture. The whole point of yoga (for me) is to relieve tension and not run through poses like an obstacle course, so therein lies the benefit. It forces one to slow down and really contemplate each pose while focusing on the breath and proper form. This is not a DVD for anyone looking for a "power yoga" workout, but the selection of routines is varied and can fill whatever time one has to practice. With sessions ranging from 15 minutes to 75 minutes, viewers can mix and match to fill the time they have. The only negative is in the voiceover--it's a tad too monotonous.

Summary: Should of Took Yoga Years Ago
Review: I was recently at a party, and a bunch of folks started talking about the different ailments and what you can do to cure them or make them feel better. As usual everyone has an opinion. Someone recommended that I try yoga, but frankly I was never really that flexible and yoga seemed so boring. I started taking classes in late summer, but was still a bit conscious. My instructor recommeded that I start practicing at home whenever I can so I picked up this DVD after reading about it here. I loved it for many reasons. The routines were geared for many fitness levels, but the yoga flow was steady and the instructors were highly knowledgeable, and kept the workouts interesting.
