Rating: Summary: a great kids movie Review: Our daughter loves this movie! She loves the story and seeing the Barbie characters in the movie and I like the movie because it is a nice, gentle story. I also liked the animation-it is very lifelike.
Rating: Summary: It's senstational! Review: I must admit, I did a little eye-rolling when I saw that Barbie had joined the legions of blond-haired, blue-eyes ingénues pursuing an acting career. I guess I should have taken into consideration that, though in terrific shape, she IS a 42 year-old woman, which means that class, style, confidence, taste and a healthy respect for culture have become part of her repertoire. This movie is magical in its entirety. It combines the classicism of a world-renowned fairy tale with the visual splendor of CGI animation, the talent of the world's finest dancers and choreographers, and the timeless beauty of Tchaikovsky's magnificent score. And, there is a tag at the end of the video directing viewers to Barbie.com, which I am pleased to report is as safe, fun, pretty and inspiring as the movie itself. I had no idea Barbie had come such a long way.You go, girl!
Rating: Summary: Excellent for the whole family!! Review: What a wonderful movie! The music is great! The adventures are great! I think everyone will love it in your family! My daughter has never been into Barbie, until now! Right up there with Disney movies! If you liked the Toy Story movies, you'll love Barbie and the Nutcracker!
Rating: Summary: What a surprise! Review: I fully expected to be disappointed by Barbies Nutcracker. Not so! What a pleasant surprise! Both my 5 yr old son and my 3 yr old daugher love this video. It held them both captivated with not only the story-line but also the visual presentation. A great video for the whole family whether you like Barbie or not.
Rating: Summary: Awesome!! Review: Good enough for my 11yr. to watch. She liked it & it is a version for the nutcracker. This is an enchating movie for any fans. The songs & animation is good. Also the story line is great. This is a great item for any barbie fan or maybe a nutcracker fan. Also it is actually good for any age. the movie is great, so I would definelly recommend it to you.
Rating: Summary: I'm Hard to Please Review: This is by far one of the best renditions of The Nutcracker. The dances are mystifying and the story between Barbie and The Nutcracker also entertaining and none formulaic. Barbie is more than just a plastic doll with blonde horse hair, she is indeed a great role model for girls of all ages.
Definitely a great movie for all ages. Parents need not worry about letting their youngs ones watching this alone.
Rating: Summary: Better than I expected! Review: I have a problem with the whole Barbie concept, but when my 5-year-old daughter saw this in the movie rental store, she HAD to have it. I watched it with her and was very pleasantly surprised by the quality animation, and beautiful music and dance scenes. It also felt less frenetic than a lot of Disney animation that tends to emphasize action, pratt falls and hitting and getting knocked around, etc. Even though there was plenty of drama in this movie, it seemed a lot gentler. My 5-year-old loves to dance to the music, and even though it's full of all that sappy prince and princess stuff, I actually enjoyed it. Watched it more than once, in fact!
Rating: Summary: Barbie dances into the heart of little girls Review: My four-year old daughter adores Barbie and Kelly so naturally she wanted to see Barbie's the Nutcracker. I didn't have alot of expectations so I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this movie. The music and production values are excellent. Barbie is a positive role model as is the Nutcracker. The Mouse King (voiced by Tim Curry) and his bat sidekick are amusing. Even my six-year old son enjoyed the movie.
Rating: Summary: For the kids, but still a solid effort Review: "Barbie In The Nutcracker" is primarily for the kids. The music is fantastic and the computer-animated ballet sequences are great, but this is still a "Barbie" movie no matter how you look at it. I commend the "Barbie" people for using great production for the music and ballet, but the animation is a little bit square. Tim Curry is funny as the Mouse King, and the story did manage to hold my daughter's attention. She's two and one-half and didn't find the Mouse King too scary. None of the scenes in this flick are too scary as I recall. The other "Barbie" movies out there(a "Rapunzel" flick and "Swan Lake") have the same top-notch production that this movie has. They also share weak plots that won't hold an adult's attention.Keep in mind that this is strictly a children's movie. That's the only reason I'm giving it three stars. If I were a two or three year old girl, I'm sure I'd think this is the best movie ever.
