Summary: Pure Boredom
Review: I tried to watch this movie a couple of months ago. I am sorry. I see no sorry. It's a series of unrelated events and unanswered questions. Ugh. I don't see why people love this movie. Even if you are a Transformers' fan, you have to realize that this movie is sooooooooooooooooo boring. I had a hard time trying to watch this movie a second time.If you want real stories, check out Beast Wars and Beast Machines. Now that is entertainment.

Review: Forget Beast Wars! Forget Beast Machines! This is the REAL Transformers here. There ain't nothing better than the real thing! I saw this movie back when it was in the theater 14 years ago when I was 6. Needless to say it still blows me away with its immense storyline and character depth. And what voice talents! Orson Wells, Leonard Nimoy, and Judd Nelson were great! They couldn't have gotten anyone better to play these roles. Of course, my favorite character is Kupp. The chemistry between him and Hot Rod is magnificant at least. I'd say more, but I don't want to spoil it for all those out there who haven't seen it yet. This movie is a must have in the video collection of any true fan of the REAL Transformers

Summary: The Decepticons Learn A New Skill
Review: HOW ODD!!!!! just as it really counts the decepticons learn to aim straight managing to wipe out five of the original transformers in one go after numerous attempts. Much as this film is very very good and the music is outstanding. But it has as always all the same tramsformers inconstincies. But much to all our pleasure it has all the wounderful and debonair wit of Starscream that we have all come to know and love and with Leonard Nimoy adding a nice "Edge" to Galvatron... Still all in all a Very Good Purchase.

Summary: This Movie Deserves To Be On DVD---Revisited
Review: Before I begin, allow me to say this: If you're a fan of the movie, scratch this review and give it five stars. Nothing I say will change your mind, but this reflects the DVD content, not the movie itself. I wrote a review back in May concerning my expectations of the DVD. Am I pleased with the results? For the most part....no, not quite. I finally sat down and watched my copy of the DVD and I thought the picture quality was worth the price of the DVD in itself. I own the VHS copy already, so I did do a direct comparison immediately. But why the picture was presented in pan and scan (fills the TV screen, for the technically declined) is beyond me. I was really hoping for widescreen so I could get the theatre feel. Oh well! At least it did look good. As for the sound, it could have been so much better. I know the original soundtrack needed to be redone for a DVD-worthy presentation, but this too is an improvement over the VHS version. Nonetheless, the sound is very weak compared to what it could have been. I mean, how can Unicron dig his fingers into Cybertron without any power behind the sound?? That part alone BEGGED for an earthquake-like bass output. Alas, it wasn't there. :( As for the extras, there are storyboards to see and an interview with the vampire....oops, got carried away....an interview with Vince DiCola, the composer of the sythesized score, which I did like. But where is the rest of the stuff we all asked for? No director's comments? No trailers? (Yes, there was one) I guess they couldn't find it in time, but I would have gladly waited for the DVD release a little longer if it had all this. Now, some good points. This DVD shows the original theatrical release, which is most noticable in the opening credits. Gone is the Star Wars-like commentary (no big loss there) and the credits have been restored. Yes, Spike does say the four-letter word. It sounds a bit odd coming from him, but then again, it did fit the situation. Overall, I do recommend this DVD, even with the disappointing results of the presentation. It's not a work of art, but it does carry a very loyal cult following. If you're a fan of the original series, get this DVD, if nothing else for nostalgic reasons. For those not familiar with the original series, I recommend renting this before buying. Because of the lack of character developement at the beginning of the originals, most of the movie won't make much sense. As for me, this movie captures a time of my youth which I'm proud to say the Transformers were a part of. Judging from the number of reviews generated, many share my sentiments. Buy the DVD!

Summary: Heavy metal!
Review: I've watched this movie over and over for donkeys years and I NEVER get tired of it. Transformers: The Movie is arguably the best film I've ever seen. It's a classic scenario of Good Vs. Evil, executed with astonishing perfection. In a near future, the heroic Autobots plan to retake their home planet Cybertron from the evil Decepticons. Unfortunately the Autobots themselves are ambushed first, which leads to the loss of their leader - the courageous Optimus Prime. While both sides try to recover from the battle, little do they know that Unicron - a monster planet that devours everything - is heading their way. There's a lot of action here to keep you rivetted, and the robot design of the new Transformers - particularily Hot Rod and Galvatron - is fabulous! The animation is suberb (although not without its faults, i.e the brief appearence of Snarl) and tops many of what the latest Disney films can do. I love the cold, metallic look of the Transformers and the action scenes are suberbly drawn. Some parts are even surprisingly violent, something that pleases me a lot because it shows that this isn't just another kiddies movie. And to accompany them, you have some of the best music in film history. You really can't think of this film without also thinking of its soundtrack, because that's probably its strongest point. The rock & roll and heavy metal songs by Vince DiCola, Stan Bush and others is simply mind-blowing (particularily "Dare", which is my all-time favourite song). People have often criticised that the music is no good nowadays because it's eighties stuff. Well, whoever said that is dead wrong. This thumping soundtrack is the kind of music that lasts forever. If you haven't watched this yet, do so now! You don't know what you're missing! Transformers: The Movie is one of those rare films that you can watch again and again. Trust me, you want to see this!

Summary: For Transformers fans only
Review: I have to admit that I am a big Transformers fan. The DVD is a must have for Transformers fans. The DVD includes a long interview with Vince Dicola, and drawn but not animated storyboards. Of course then we got the movie. You will also notice there were like brief and I mean very brief scenes you never did see on tv or vhs. It's funny that when i watch it on Tv 13 years ago, all the violence was there from shooting Ironhides head to the robots burning in acid. Many people claimed that it never made it on tv but anyway on dvd this is your chance. Yes, the swear word which I never knew on tv was present in this version too. The extra they probably forgot to put was a trailer(if they had one) and Stan Bush's "you've got the touch" video, which was kinda dissapointing to find that it wasn't there. Before I go, I repeat only for fans, as I began to mature I loved movies that had a touching or convincing story but, on Transformers the story was kinda pointless and many of the autobots were missing. For non-transformer fans this is like 1-3 stars only. FOr the rest of you: Have a nice day.

Summary: Excellent 80s film with excellent musical score....
Review: Like almost everyone else who reviewed this movie, I grew up in the early 80s and loved Transformers. I went to go see the movie in the theater. Although, very disappointing, this DVD lacks a trailer and a wide screen format. The whole movie is like one long action sequence, which is very enjoyable, taking you to different planets and even inside enormous robots. On a sad note, I thought it was an unwise decision to kill off Optimus Prime at the beginning of the movie. The battle between him and Megatron (aka Galvatron) should have taken place at the end of the film. ... My favorite characters: Starscream, Soundwave, and Jazz appear in the film, but did not get much air time. It really takes you back to the good ol' days while watching this movie.......

Summary: Fun memories
Review: Loved the series when I was in a kid and I really liked the movie when it came out. If you liked the Transformers when it came out or if you like Beast Wars/Beast Machines now, this is worth the watch. But, WHY did they release this in pan-and-scan??!!!! Even the worst movies are being released in widescreen on DVD. It makes a fan feel slighted.

Summary: Robots in disguise...
Review: this is one of the greatest movies iv seen, animated or not. iv seen lots of anime and other cartoons, but none of the animation matches up with this movie. the one major problem with the film was that, it was hard for the rest of the movie to catch up with the first 20 minutes. the first 20 minutes was transformers action at its best. theres not much room for character development in the movie, but the show made up for that.
